Fandom Avatar: The Last Airbender

Suka heard a voice and sat up in her tent,"Firebenders?" She whispered. She lowered one of the shards to make a little entrance and looked up at the other girl warning her,"Did you say firebenders?" Her voice was sweet and innocent, and very quiet. Just then a scratchy skidding sound came from behind them. Suka jumped on her feet and raised the shards from out of the ground to over her head and aiming them at the firebender in a fighting stance,"You the firebender?" She asked, tiny voice emotionless. She was only 4'11 but she wasnt afraid to stick up for herself. Besides shes never met other benders besides waterbenders. No matter how composed and serious she seemed on the outside, she was actually really excited inside!

"Well i have a question for you, you, why do you hurt innocent earthbenders?!" I say to the firebender, a tear coming down my face.

Vrida raised an eyebrow. "What? Innocent? They had weapons, and they were heading toward my village at a fast pace! It looked to me as if they were going to harm my village, so I did what anyone would do! Actually... Jack did the harming, but i was going to defend my village, just like any other human." Vrida said. She kept a steady tone, trying her best not to yell. Her hands were by her side, she was not in fighting stance. But if someone made a move, she was ready. Always being alert was the key to survival in an encounter with other strangers. Vrida's expression on her face softened. "Don't worry, i'm not on a conquest journey or anything. You can trust me..."

Jack was suspicious of the girl, whether Vallery though so or not. "And how do we not know you are lying to our faces? You eathbenders are hardly ever trustworthy!" Jacks was finally able to get a good look at her, and realized how young she actually was. If she was just a little girl, he didn't want to kill her. "Wait, your younger than most of those other benders, aren't you? There's no way you were gonna hurt the town with them." He looked down at the ground. "I hope not at least." Jacks relaxed himself and tired not to scare her more that he already might of. She reminded him of one of the girls he talked to at school at the capital. "I hope at least."

Suka took a step back and stood straight,"Wait...." She looked back at the young girl,"Youre an earthbender!" A smile grew on her face but quickly vanished as another thought pushed the first one out,"Wait...where am i?" She pulled out a map,"I lost track of where we landed...." She spoke to herself as she unrolled the map of all four nations. She turned it sideways, upside down, then right side up as she examined it. She blinked a little and lowered the map under her eyes but above her nose and looked at the firebenders,"Are we in the fire nation?" She whispered in a way hoping she wasnt right. She put her hand on her head and grabbed a hand full of snow white hair,"Oh no no no!" She shut her blue eyes.

"I understand now, and I'm sorry for misunderstanding, and yes I am a young bender, I get teased sometimes for it" I frown "if you won't attack me, then I won't attack you" I say then look at the waterbender "yes I am a Earthbender, and you look like a waterbender!" I say with a smile "Also if we are in the fire nation then we should get a move on to somewhere safe, I'm still on a journey to find the Avatar but i guess safety comes first" I say "so what do you guys want to do?" I say while briefly looking at the people around me.

Suka jumped,"The Avatar!" She remembered hearing the two crew mates talk about her. Suka often went into her own world and would sometimes forget she was people. She stood quiet thinking if she could find the avatar, the feud between nations would be over, and her parents would let her travel and see the world! She snapped out of her thoughts and looked at the strangers with determined look in her eye and hands balled up in a fist,"I want to see them bend so badly!" She yelled in her thoughts.

"Yea the Avatar, I want to find her, and help her in her journey to fight the fire lord, the Avatar also helps other and I could help her doing that too" I say "but sometimes I feel bad for the Avatar, the Avatar always has to deal with a lot of pressure. Being an Avatar is so important that the whole world depends on her and what she does to save it, and that must be really tough for her." I say still frowning

Vallery felt sudden excitement, she turned her head to the two girls, smiling, and said, "well, do you mind if I join in, helping you find the avatar? I just would like all these unreasonable deaths to NOT happen, and I don't want families forced to separate." Vallery said, turning her head down. well this is going to be hard, mostly because Vallery herself was a fire bender, and fire benders were attacked on sight if spotted In any village other than fire.

"No, I don't mind, I think I can trust you, but before we start anything I have to clarify something with you" I say looking at Vallery "if you try harming anyone in our group, and i find out that your on an opposite side, then you won't be in our group, you got it" I say to Vallery, and just trying to be cautious and careful.

"Ook, but, on another condition, I say that goes for everyone. Otherwise, I would feel like nothing's changed." Vallery glanced at the water bender. She looked as if she wanted to see the other benders preform, she looked curious. Vallery glanced at the fire, it was going down. Vallery shot a little fire at it, causing the fire to grow brighter, creating more warmth and light. "We should get some sleep, we have a long way to go before finding the avatar..." Vallery sat down, rested her head on a log after putting sot leaves on it, and closed her eyes, sleeping soon enough.

Suka made a squealing noise and put her hands to her cheeks and looked at Vallery. Her face a little red, she wanted to burst out and say how cool that was but her lips and cheeks formed a pout as she tried to hold the excitement in.

Suka agreed, they should get some rest, it was already late and looking for the avatar was going to be tough. She walked back to her little ice tent then had an idea just as she was going to lay down. She stood up and walked back out. She planted her feet firmly on the ground and with the help of the moon, created a large tent over her and her new comrades, including the fire, but left a hole in the center on the top, so the smoke could escape. She went back to her spot, where her mini tent was and layed on the ground, using her pack as a pillow,"Good night...." She whispered, being used to saying that every night to her family.

The night sky was clear and boundless lit up by a thousand thousand brightly shining stars, it was the most beautiful thing Owain had ever seen, he felt like it should mean something but his mind was as blank as the faceless, metallic sea that tossed and churned his form. His pruned fingers gripped a slowly spinning wooden box of cargo fumbling around the corners when it dipped too far trying to maintain balance but he was getting so tired. He had been bending the water around the quickly sinking Fire Nation cruiser trying to keep it afloat but he was spent, nothing left int he tank anymore barely enough to keep him conscious. The Fire Nation's cruiser's bow stuck up straight in the moonlit water desperately reaching out for someone to pull it out from it's watery tomb but there were no heros here, no warriors. No men. Just one boy trying to stay afloat under the sight of the waning moon, his father was on board but he was a water-bender. A master water-bender he would be fine, he always was. Blood painted the metallic water around Owain's crate, his chestnut hair soaked and slicked down into his face with now crimson salt-water. The beautiful night sky blurred and churned along with the see as his grip relaxed and he fell into the unforgiving ocean.

Owain jerked up swinging with a right, and hitting a body of air. His dream fading from the corners of his mind all he could recall were fire-benders and a ship, and his Father. He laid back down on his beach, the crash of waves was soothing but kept him from falling asleep or dying or whatever. The sun hung low so it would be dark soon, then he could sleep and dream of Father and Mother and home. Maybe he had been sleeping this whole time and he was going to wake up now safe and sound in his bed, he knew deep down that wasn't the case though, this was all his life was meant to be he figured.

Owain dreamed and hallucinated for a couple of hours until a mousy fire-bender named Clair found him and brought took to healing his head wound, it looked like he hit it on the corner of something falling down so she didn't think much of it. She put her bouncy brunette curls into a pony tail and opened up a leather satchel filled with various herbs and medical supplies then got to bandaging him up, one across his forehead and a few smaller ones one his hands and forearms, he was burned pretty bad across the back in the shape of a comet with the tail and everything. Maybe a fighter after all she thought not a good idea for someone so lanky and.. easy to break. She spread a cooling salve for the pain and wrapped it up as loosely as she felt comfortable doing then went down to shoreline to see what she might find of his.

It was night again, the sky was overcast this time though and Owain's body ached. He sat up slowly realizing he had no shirt on and had definitely been tended to, the brunette in her simplistic Fire Nation garb caught his attention almost immediately. He was still wearing his Water Tribe fatigues so she could not have any misconceptions about him, a thousand thoughts raced through his mind though nothing seemed to make sense until she looked back and realized he was awake.

"Hey take it easy alright, i'm friendly just found you sprawled out here bleeding to death," Clair's hands were up defensively but she had a friendly smile plastered on her face.

"Why? I'm a Water-Bender, your enemy.. definitely not your friend lady," It didn't matter why she helped him, he was alive and not he needed to get away and figure out what he was going to do. That was sort of a lie. He wanted blood he knew that, Owain just needed a plan, he needed to find the Fire Lord and achieve satisfaction.

"Yeah I got that from the clothes, look we're people first and benders second at least that's what I grew up believing.. If you want to go I won't stop you i'm just saying I have a place for you to stay and recuperate which you should really consider doing," Claire had packed up her medicines while she talked and began to walk away into the woods around them probably on her way to grandmother's house.

"Yeah.. Thanks but i'll be going then.. Thank you actually, seriously this time," Owain gave her a genuine smile without really meaning to, she seemed like good people even if she was part of the Fire-Nation, he turned and went into the woods opposite of his savior with a feeling of meloncholy. Somehow he knew that if he kept to this path he would have to kill her, a sweet little thing like her didn't belong in this world. Cruel, cruel world that it is.

((OOC; Long post I know but i'm super suck at intro posts, next one will be a little more humane I promise!))

Vallery was in a light sleep, and she thought she was hearing footsteps. She assumed it was just part of her blank dream. Vallery tensed up, getting paranoid about all the things it could be. Bear? Fire nation soldier? kid nappers? murderers?...... ghosts?!?! Vallery sighed and ignored the footsteps, listening to the crickets chirp. Soon, she was fast asleep.

"Hah! Stupid water bender, walking right into our town, asking us for medicine!"

the young girl shivered inside the cage, her hands shakily gripping the gray, rusted bars.

"P-please, i-its my mommy, s-she's s-sick!"

The guards laughed, and one put his sweaty, dirt-covered hand on one of the bars.

"If ya' wanted to help ya' "momwee", then ya' shouldn't have come ta' us!"

"Please! M-my mommy w-will go to s-sleep for e-ever!"

The guard with an accent laughed, as the other one acted like he was crying, while sarcastically pouting. A little fire bender, around the age of 7, was peeking through the corner. She gripped medicine in her hand, since the guards gave it to her instead of the girl who needed it. The guards left, laughing hysterically. The little girl walked to the cage, and unlocked the lock, handing the girl the medicine once she was out of the cage. The water bender girl looked at her, mad at all the fire benders in the planet. The water bender girl kicked the 7 year old fire bender in the stomach, and ran away. The fire bender girl left too, so she didn't get scolded by the guards. The fire bender went to her house, crying on her bed.

That seven year old fire bender was me...

The woods were dark and creepy to say the least, the only sounds were the faint creaking of branches in the dying breeze and Owain's brushing through the lower foliage, he had long since gone back and grabbed his shirt though it barely held having almost no back on it.

He was still pretty damp even though he had been left out to dry for almost a whole day, he liked the feeling of the water in his hair, it was safety. It was home.

"Wait a minute.. didn't I pass that curved tre-" Owain noted a twisting cherry blossom as he

barreled into somebody's sleeping form, he stepped into a dying fire trying to recover and lost it sprawling into the dirt face first. He rolled over quickly making sure he wasn't still on fire and looked around at the people he had found, their campfire was little more than a candle wisp giving off the faintest light which suited Owain, his face burned up and he knew it would be beet red. His palms were getting sweaty already, for some reason he was thinking about mom's spaghetti, but on the surface he looks calm and ready.

Fights always made Owain nervous, a lot of things made Owain nervous actually but fights especially, he loved the way it felt to move past it into the flow, the moment.
His moment. His flow. Now he had to be ready, now he had to make it his moment.

"Am I still on fire?" His head was hot. Quick as lightning Owain bent the water off of his body and put out his hair, or rather the portion that survived, the left side was untouched but the right had been decimated down to a few inches of scorched strands.

Vallery yelped in shock, shooting her body straight up, her hands grabbing her stomach. It felt like someone tripped over one of her rib cage bones, as she groaned in pain. Vallery glanced to her side, seeing a guy, that wasn't jack. She blinked, trying to see clearer. Vallery noticed he was a

water bender, an old one. She instinctively put her hands in front of her head, in a way of defense. Her stomach still hurt, but the guy looked even more beat up. "Uh, hello? Friend or foe, sir?" Vallery wasn't to obvious with her clothing. She had a dark blue shirt on, with pants up to her knees that were a dark gray. She considered them as pajamas, them being a soft cotton. Her hair was messy and loose, hanging down her shoulders. Vallery looked at him, noting his appearance. She didn't spot any weapons, but there still might be. His face looked... Burned. She saw the footprints that showed he tripped into the fire. Wincing at how painful that must have been, she hesitatingly said, "ohmygosh... I'm so sorry!"

Suka's ears filled with voices. Her eyes sleepily blinked and twitched open. She sat up, supporting herself with one arm and hand, while the other rubbed her eyes. Suka stood up, putting her blue parka with white fur on. She stepped out of the ice tent and say Vallery and a stranger. The 4'11" girl walked behind Vallery and stuck close,"A-Are you hurt?" She was wide awake now, and could see he had cuts a bruises and a new burn,"I-Im a healer, i could help if you want..." Her tiny voice offered. She was typically shy toward strangers, but she saw he needed help and pushed her timid self aside. Of course she was still weary of him, but people deserved to be helped

Vallery grew defensive and was going to protect Suka, even though Suka was more powerful than her at the moment. Vallery slowly put her hands down and eyed the stranger, noticing he looked as if he was going to attack. "You are a water-bender, right?" Vallery said, trying to slow things down so he wouldn't get mad or scared. Vallery saw he had a huge advantage, being taller and stronger, so it wasn't a good idea to start arguing. She noted the footprints in the mud, and assumed he came from her village, which made Vallery a bit scared, worrying he might have attacked her village.

Suka didnt realize it till Vallery pointed it out, he IS a water bender. Suka blinked her ocean blue eyes and moved a piece of her snow white hair out of her face and behind her ear, it seemed to glow with the moonlight. A smile grew on her face toward the fello water bender. She came out from hiding behind Vallery,"Im Suka!" She attempted to be friendly.

Owain ran a hand through his natural jerry curls, he hated them since the day he was born but his dad had passed that on and there had yet to be a product to straighten it out without making it a wavy mess, burnt strands kept coming out in diminishing handfuls. He would have to shave his head next chance he got, for now it would be enough to comb it over.

Then he noticed the girls, one short with hair pale hair that would be the envy of every iceberg, and the taller red-head in the black pants that had but a moment before been in mid apology now stood defensively over her companion. She was a fire-bender. He couldn't put his finger on it, not her clothes, her mannerism, not her clothes either they were fairly plain but he knew, it was like smelling the rain before it came.

"Yeah, I Water-Bend but it's my skill with ice that does people in," He measured his words carefully trying to sound la least slightly dangerous without being too much of a dick, they had tried to be nice. Sort of, dammit no they were being nice the blue eyed one offered to heal me up afterall. Wait, blue-eyes and white hair?, why didn't I realize it sooner?

All of a sudden he did feel like a dick and he hated that he did.

She's a Fire-Bender! A bender of fire this should be simple, easy actually. She should be dead, wam! bam! thank you ma'am but i'll see you after the next bending revolution baby!

His hands hands came up palms out to show he meant no harm, he had to find out why a water tribe girl would be doing here anyway. A tilt of his now cooled head regarded Suka once she introduced herself. He wasn't sure he wanted to know after reflecting on his own trip in.

"New into town, decided to go for an invigorating hike.. Avid campers?"

Owain tried to smile but he was pretty bad at faking one and he felt pretty on the spot.

Vallery raised an eyebrow. He knew she was a fire bender, he just had to know. Vallery sighed and sat down on a log next to the fire. "I'm Vallery. And you probably know i'm a fire bender. Well, now you know, if you didn't. Anyways, in case you were mistaken, i'm not keeping Suka prisoner." Vallery said in a plain tone, trying to figure out what he was thinking. Looking up, she noted the position of the moon, and it was almost daylight. So that meant she got at least a few hours of sleep.

"Yea..." Suka kneeled on the ground, her palms on her thighs, and back straight, heels of her feet tucked under her rear. This was how she was taught to be seated, especially when conversing with a new stranger, it was supposed to show respect and that your attentive to what your guest has to say. Typically this was done when you invited a guest into your home for dinner or tea, but its become a force of habit now. Suka continued,"We arent campers either," she stopped and put a hand to her chin,"now that i think about it, I dont know what we are...we all just met a few hours ago!" She tilted her head getting lost in her thoughts once again: "Maybe we're nomads? No no, thats not it. We're just a group...of strangers? ...yes thats it! No wait...more like acquaintances...i got it! Team avatar! Since we are going to search for her...no thats dumb..." She shook her head and snapped out of her thoughts and spoke out loud once more,"We're just people who happened to meet for a mysterious reason we've yet to find out~!" She smiled. I-It made sense in her head......

Vallery had cut right to the point stating Suka was her travelling companion and not a prisoner which Owain had taken with quite a bit of salt, but when Suka spoke he came around to the thinking that she was there as willing as you please. She spoke as she thought or vice-versa, either way she didn't sing like a jail bird, there was even a hint of excitement in her voice when she mentioned the Avatar.

The Avatar. He almost laughed out loud but stifled it so a mild grin. That pile of human waste had abandoned all of us for what a hundred years probably longer now,
if they had any morals at all, if they could even bend and then again only if they were still alive the idea of even locating where the Avatar might be hiding out was like a good joke and actually somewhere deep in his core it kind of made him angry though he couldn;t wipe the silly smile off his face.

"
You know where the Avatar is? Do you have any idea where to even look? What if the Fire Lord already found him and is just using him for some sort of crazy death machine?" The questions came in a staccato, burst fire mode enabled. It was an absurd notion. Stupid actually, and it beat the hell out of his plan three ways to Friday. The smile began to fade with the idea of Avatar hunting, he had to be sure of these people before he could consider anything else.

"
What's your story anyway? Fire is top of the elemental food chain right now so what brings you down to our level?"

Owain ran a hand through his curls again while regarding Vallery, and sighed at the thought of losing his curls afterall. He hated them without a doubt but he loved not being bald so much more as an infinite amount of middle-aged men(and their wives) would agree.

Vallery glared at the stranger.

"You know, that's kind of racist."

Vallery said, kind of offended.

"Well, not all fire benders are the same. I would rather die then harm innocent familys or people, and that's exactly what ozai, the 'fire Lord', is doing. Even though all fire benders have a strike of violence, I take mine out on ozai. Plain and simple, I want to crush him, like he did to so many families"

Vallery stared into the starry night, her eyes showing anger. Vallery said that from her heart, that was what drove her. But she knew she couldn't defeat ozai herself.

"You know, one night I met a fire nation soldier. He said that if he didnt follow ozai's orders, then his family would be executed, even though his family did nothing to harm anyone."

Vallery noted, stating that ozai even crushed families in the fire nation. Vallery saw her friend, who was innocent, get taken to court, but thankfully she came back, but her arm was burnt, showing that ozai was probably also in court. Vallery closed her eyes, listening but still willing to talk.

Suka stood quiet, the subtle tension was detectable, and detect she did. Her head sunk into her shoulders, the way a turtle duck does when its fearful. She didnt like that feeling, it was disruptive and brought down her normal positive attitude.

But that fear turned to sympathy when Vallery spoke of the soldier. It was upsetting to know that Ozai rules with fear, instilling into everyone under him, even his own subordinates and his family! Suka's sapphire eyes rolled over to study Vallery's expression. She could almost see other memories flooding her eyes. Suka then looked at the stranger,"Im here because im lost." She stated with a care free smile and a small giggle. "I wanted to see the world! I was cooped up in the Northern Water Tribe since all the war and chaos is 'unsafe' no one really travels but the warriors....Ive never SEEN anything but ice and snow my whole life! So i snuck onto a boat *uses hands as a boat sailing* sailed on down here and boop! Landed here." She said,"Heh heh...unfortunately....i didnt know i landed in the Fire Nation until i bumped into Vallery...." She looked down at her lap with a slight blush of embarrassment,"I missed the idea that landing in the Fire Nation was a possibility.....i didnt think my plan through..." She blushed sheepishly, her face a little redder. Her head popped back up to look at the two,"Im a runaway i guess! Besides my parents wanted an arranged marriage for me, i didnt want that!" She smiled once more but it quickly evaporated,"I didnt belong there anyway...." She mumbled. She thought herself as an outcast. She didnt know why she never took part in the normal things people her age did back home. She never had friends, practiced more than healing which was forbidden for women, was always home, and people ignored her. She didnt know what went wrong. Perhaps she was so shy she allowed herself to disappear from society completely.
