Sai groaned from behind the counter of the store counter. All around him, it smelled like shaved wood mixed with the sharp, stabbing scent of metal. It stung his nose, but in a rather good way. It helped his mind wander to think up what next project he would complete for Hitoshi. He was always assigned something, like to build cabinets or dressers, and use the tools they had in the back of the store in the housing area to make it. Hitoshi would then bring them out to auctions and other places people could buy homemade items. It helped rake in a little extra cash, as well as promote the shop a bit. They had some pieces on display near the front of the building, able to be seen through the thin glass that separated Sai from the freedom of outside. Which he would have taken at that time...

...since no one was
coming into the god damn store.

He hated slow days. When people came in needing tools or they wanted to buy some of the furniture, Sai would jump at the chance, as it took away his boring and dull hours that he would be sitting in his office chair, staring with a murderous gaze at the door. It would obviously change once people came in, as Hitoshi told him it would make customers stop coming. Maybe the ones that would look into the store thought he was angry to be working, and thought he would be as much of an asshole to them as any other person with that look.

But when he got to talking to people, he was at his prime. He could easily persuade them to overpay him for a piece of furniture, or get them to buy a 'special' tool box with tools they buy, saying that it was a sale, when in actuality, they end up paying the same price for the item if they just bought it regularly. He and Hitoshi had to get by somehow, and Sai found that the easiest way when he was out of his guardian's sight.

He groaned once more, throwing the newspaper from three weeks ago to the side and under the desk, out of sight. "Of all times...I'm stuck looking after the store on a dead day. Maybe you set me up, Hitoshi...bastard." He, of course, was speaking to no one. Hitoshi was out with some of his friends, who were also ghouls like him and Sai, and probably having a blast feasting on some unfortunate human, or even one of those cocky ghouls that liked to pick fights with people.

Either way, Sai was hungry. He placed a hand on his stomach, frowning. He hadn't gone out to hunt for a while, preferring to limit his amount of eating to enough where he had plenty of strength, while also not giving himself away. He knew about ghouls that were found by Investigators firsthand. He shivered at the thought of running into one on one of his hunts, and it being the end for him. He was cautious about them, preffering to learn about his targets prior to attacking them. As long as they were not CCG members, or tied to any in general, he would kill and devour as much as he wished, while staying under the radar. He smiled, knowing the Lemur could not be caught so easily. He was smart enough to stay in his own lane on the streets of Tokyo.
