Premise:
The Vanguard Training Corp is an accelerated class of the military Cadet program, whose regiment is designed to develop soldiers to combat the Titans or serve the king with distinction. Vanguards are specifically chosen during one's time during the Cadets. Grades as a Cadet are greatly considered but scouts also look for those who shine in areas such as leadership, bravery or can be influenced by one's family status. The Vanguards are well kept secret, only known to the most privileged members of society or elite soldiers. As of now, it consists of twenty renown members in the military, spanning from the Survey Corps and Garrison who act as leaders. These members take some guidance from the king but a commander makes the decisions outside the walls. In the year 828, the program has begun recruiting. Your characters will be the first entrees into this experimental program whose goals seem unknown. Once your time with the Vanguards are done, however, you are promised a lucrative position to your choice of military division.
Some might be wary about the program, as the only information you are given is that training will take place beyond the walls and you are expected to perform challenging missions. The ultimate goal of the regiment is to develop your characters into skilled commanders in the future. Only one-hundred people were invited into the program and your characters are forced to take an oath of silence on the matter. Any infringement results in a life in prison.
Time Frame:
This RP takes place seventeen years before the start of the series. Wall Maria is still standing, but a series of plagues have killed hundreds and life in the walls is presenting new dangers. The survey corps is pressured into setting up a base outside the walls to expand humanity. However, their efforts have resulted in hundreds of soldiers dying. The King privately assembled the Vanguard Training Regiment to address the massacre of soldiers, believing the quality is better than quality when it comes to fighting the Titans.
Rules + Etiquette:
1) Facilitate a roleplay with stakes - what I mean by this is your characters should run into danger and be put into situations where they must find a way out and work with other characters. I will do my part to ensure this as well.
2) Your characters are skilled but they won't start out as Levis or Mikasas. If it is reasonable they develop into that, I am game. Play out your character's strengths and weaknesses.
3) Basic RP etiquette - I expect one post a week, barring anything interfering in real life (I understand). Let everyone have a turn to post before moving on.
