Slowly but surely, everything was going to shit. What was to be expected? They were all just recruits; the closest thing they had fought compared to Titans were just wacky cardboard cutouts. Many of them hadn’t even experienced anything akin to war and loss. Elke, for instance, was one of Shiganshina’s survivor, but even she was stunned at the loss of one of their own.
It all became worse when Luka went to support Elke. One of the Titans had loomed too close, drawing the boy’s attention. Luka’s attempted slaying of the beast had gone painfully awry, and within sheer moments he was splayed on one of the roofs in a muddled mess. Why were they all faltering? Most of the platoon nearly graduated in the top ten, and even she, who had made it to that prestigious title, didn’t know what the hell to do. Vivian just knew she had to act before it was too late.
Grinding her teeth, Vivian took to the air again. Katsu was preoccupied with another Titan, so he wouldn’t be able to deal with this one. But… before she knew it, the Titan that had been previously been focused on Luka had loped after Anke. A distraction. That was what they needed. She silently thanked the younger girl as she landed on the rooftop where Luka was.
“Luka, get the hell up!” Vivian roared as she roughly shook the boy. He was the leader of their squadron; they needed him conscious. “We need you on your feet!”
Her gaze flitted back to Anke and Katsu. Damn it, if Elke was functional at the moment, she would have sent her to help them out. Vivian cursed under her breath. She couldn’t stay until he woke up. She had to help the other two, unless she wanted them to end up like Viktor. Standing back up to her full height, she shot one of her hooks into the nearest wall and tailed after Anke and the other Titan. Luckily, it was distracted— she placed another hook into its shoulder and swung around to cut its nape, but the force of her trajectory, despite it being just enough to fell the devil, had wrenched her left wrist in a painful direction.
Vivian landed on another rooftop, nearly stumbling to her knees in the process. Drenched in sweat and having taken down two Titans in the matter of minutes, she was all but exhausted. “Anke! Help Katsu out!” she called out towards the blonde. She had done all she could for the time being— she only hoped that Luka would be up and at it by the time they needed him.
