Setting:
When we set off across the stars, we knew what we were sacrificing. We were sacrificing the whole world for a new one. Within a few months after departure, most of us stopped communicating with our friends and family on Earth. There didn't seem to be any point knowing that we wouldn't receive a reply for more than half a year.
We knew it would be difficult, but none of us were expecting that it would literally drive us mad, something no one had prepared us for. By the time we arrived at our destination, there had been several mutinies by people who wanted to turn back, and during one of them, some of the mutineers had destroyed our landing system so as to force us to go back.
But our captain ordered us to keep going, and when our crash-landing went wrong, our ship sank and we lost almost all access to technology, sending us back to the Stone Age. Weren't it for the fact that we'd been preceded by machines that terraformed the planet before we came here, we'd all have been dead by now.
It would take decades to gather the resources we need to rebuild the technology we need to contact Earth, although the radio silence itself should have been enough to let them know we were in trouble. But that was many years ago, and for some reason no rescue team has ever shown up. They should have been here a long time ago by now. Something must have happened on Earth to keep them from rescuing us. Whatever the reason they're not here, most of us have long given up the idea of being rescued. Perhaps humanity has become extinct. Some even believe that, with the rate technology was advancing, in the time it took for us to get here, humanity moved on to something else that now sees us as little more than animals. Sometimes it does feel like we've become animals again, or lost some part of our humanity we had in civilization.
When we crash-landed, the mutineers and loyalists immediately formed separate camps, and tensions rose as each blamed the other for being stuck here. In the first few years, there were some skirmishes, but we quickly came to an agreement that we should just move to separate locations: they moved as far west as they could, we moved as far east as we could. We didn't mind moving on. It meant we had a chance to find the resources we needed to rebuild something of a civilization from what we remember it to be.
There are stories of some people who took some of the most advanced technology from the spaceship with them. If these stories are true, they keep it entirely to themselves.

This is an open RP, which means that anyone can control any characters as well as the plot and setting. Anyone can create as many characters as they want, but cannot kill others' characters without their permission (which may be granted in advance). You can, however, injure a character and leave the decision to the other player whether they die or not. Anyone can also add to the plot and setting. No character submissions are necessary: you can develop your character as you go.
