Cerberus World Factbook 2117 Edition

The world is constantly in flux, whether due to the actions of us, one of our clients, or one of our rivals. A situation in a stable country could change from one year to the next. Thus, we have organized the World Factbook to give a basic overview on the situation across the world as of the current year.

- Who Are We?

We are a PMC dedicated to serving the interests of our clients around the world. These range from nation states, to corporate entities, to the occasional private individual. These services range from standard infantry to a Cataphract Corps. We at Cerberus pride ourselves on our quality of services and ability to get the jobs they are hired for.

The Corporations:

The major entities that we serve. The Corporations are our primary clients, and as such we have decided to give a basic overview of them and their functions in dealing with Cataphracts.

Regulus:

Headquarters: Arlington, Virginia

When the Great Crash came, several executives in the Aerospace industry saw the writing on the wall. They consolidated their assets, selling loose ends and then formed a company, buying up the remnants of the failed Boeing and Lockheed-Martin, as well as several space-focused companies. From the ashes rose Regulus, the most prominent aerospace company in the world. Designing both civilian and military craft as well as space exploration equipment. America was one of the first to build dedicated Cataphract forces, and Regulus was right behind the land of the free, developing equipment for the new tools of warfare.

Atlas & Kaiser GmbH:

Headquarters: Hamburg, Germany

Germany came out of The Great Crash reasonably well. Atlas & Kaiser was soon established as a bulwark against the crash. It soon came out as a weapons developer, with BMW as a subsidiary, developing heavy machinery and luxury vehicles. As a result of this marriage, Atlas & Kaiser was able to stand as one of the first developers of the Cataphract Framework. It's primarily responsible for engines and weapons used by cataphracts and their pilots.

Sanxing Systems:

Headquarters: Taipei, Taiwan

As China split up into several different states, Taiwan seized an opportunity. It moved in and opened factories and offered economic prosperity to its neighbors. Sanxing was one of the companies to take control, opening up old computer chip factories and refining them. Now, there's not a home without a Sanxing chip in it anywhere in the world. From smart fridges and cellphones to the Cheyenne Mountain Complex's ATHENA System, Sanxing is ubiqutious.

Amaterasu Group:

Headquarters: Tokyo, Japan

The nine tailed fox. so-called because of its nine major divisions. Amaterasu is a classical Japanese Zaibatsu conglomerate, formed from the merging of several corporations during The Great Crash as well as several later buyouts. The dominance of Amaterasu, especially in the Pacific Rim, is a test of world infrastructure. They own everything from shipping and shipbuilding to construction, and as a result know how to throw their weight around.

Adelaide-Trask:

Headquarters: London, England

Adelaide-Trask is the most interesting of the corporations. It's mostly involved in white collar industries. As a result, there are almost no Cataphract Parts made by Adelaide-Trask, however, this London-based firm has its fingers in other pies. Adelaide-Trask has recently made moves against Regulus in an attempt to gain control over various oil fields around the world.

Ilmarinen Heavy Industries:

Headquarters: Tampere, Finland

While Ilmarinen is relatively new to the world stage, Ilmarinen's contributions can't be understated. Primarily involved in mining and foundry work, Ilmarinen has recently come as a large player following its buyout of several Scandinavian and Russian companies in an attempt to solidify a place in the world. Ilmarinen also has been seen gunning for Atlas & Kaiser's place in terms of vehicle development, designing several cars and pieces of construction equipment.

Space Elevator Alliance

An NGO comprised of NASA in the US, JAXA in Japan, ISRO in India, and the ESA, the Space Elevator Alliance is the overseer of the Space Elevator and several Mass Drivers on Earth. As of current, there is the Orbital Pillar and Mass Driver in French Guyana, the Sharanga Mass Driver in India, and the Hawaiian Orbital Driver in Hawaii, with another Mass Driver under construction near Mount Kilimanjaro. This organization governs over who has access to the various resources, through both diplomacy and banning groups or individuals from accessing tools.

A GUIDE TO CATAPHRACTS

An Excerpt from APEX Magazine

The Cataphract is the symbol of modern war. Around 25 feet tall, and weighing around 60 tons, the Cataphract is the modern tank, and the modern cavalry.

Cataphracts are further divided into several classes with different roles on the battlefield. Of course, these roles are malleable due the Cataphract's modular frame, allowing a unit to switch roles with a simple switching of parts back at its base of operations. However, these are standard classes as defined in the 2115 Military and Mercenary Codex.

  • Vanguard are the heaviest category of Cataphract. Armed with a 120 MM cannon on its right arm, guided missiles on its right shoulder, several 10mm machine guns, and a heavy shield. The Vanguard is made to act as front line troops and break through defenses easily. Vanguard classes carry a booster rocket for quick movement forward, but have almost zero upward mobility.

While its mobility is relatively limited, the Vanguard class make up for it in pure strength. Able to throw a car roughly 400 meters, Vanguards are often also used as battering rams or as shields to protect lesser armored Allies.

Current Major Conflicts and Belligerents:

Lake Baikal: Peoples' Republic of Northern China vs Siberian League
Queen Maude's Land: Regulus vs Adelaide-Trask
Patagonia, South America: Patagonian Liberation Front vs Argentine and Chilean governments
