Nightfang
Veteran Adventurer
You are one of the chosen few who, having passed either the written or physical exam, are rewarded with a zeppelin ride to the town on the edge of the academy's island. Here you will choose your schedule and take the placement test. All you have to do is join your fellow students next to the three gates. Planted on the eastern side of an isolated island in the far sea, this fortress and school has stood against time, invaders, and nature itself as a testament of an ancient civilization.
Bards tell stories throughout the four quarters of the earth of this mystical island of Arsion. The barbaric tribes of the west, frozen thanes of the north, powerful empire of the south, mystic enclaves of the east and even the central kingdom all pay homage to this great academy. Aspiring heroes, villains, and others seeking fame and fortune have flocked to find favor with the legendary island and creatures said to inhabit it.
Many ruins dot the landscape, but only three, the academy and its two port towns, remain populated. Great warriors and small armies alike have tried to pry into the ruins depths and recover their secrets, but few get much farther than the academies own students, who use the areas as a means to test their mettle and learn skills that will help them once they're graduated.

Okay okay, we're not all that great, so we have an impenetrable castle on an island nobody can tame, but we're only here to look after the worlds future. Without great leaders and heroes to keep chaos at bay in this world, it risks falling into darkness for all eternity.
As scholars and teachers, the staff all guard their own secrets discovered of ancient days and powerful magic. That's not to say we want it kept a secret, it's our job to impart it on capable acolytes. It's your choice whether to use it for the betterment of others or yourself.
Example Classes and Teachers;
Meadow - Survival, Unarmed Combat, Stealth Skills
Mourningstar - Enchanting, Dark magic, Defensive Magic
Benjorn - Alchemy, Crafting, Card Magic
Vivi Cabal - Magic 101, Utility Magic, Dungeoneering
Vulpi - Music, Magic Theory, Illusion
(Not all classes shown, feel free to make some up! ^^)
Positions open for teachers.
Arsion is the tall fortress on the east coast of the island, just east of that is the walled-in town of Eriln. Students will begin their adventure here.
The south-east of the island is mostly swamp, the graveyard here is prime grounds for hunting the undead, but few students are heard to have entered the crypt at its center.
Further south, across the smaller of Arsions three mountains, is the forest temple, a place for druid and shamanistic students to focus their connection to the natural world.
The south western peninsula is covered in dense woodlands, all but hiding the fisherman's village at it's tip.
The center of the island is dominated by two massive stone domes, Arsions twin mountains. The fiery volcano Tercota sits to the east of the larger Mt. Elgar.
The rest of the island has long been unexplored, but there are rumors of the old academy, a massive ruin crumbling in the jungles far to the north.
1) Please be as descriptive as you can without sounding to repetitive. We don't need two different explanations of how your character doesn't like such and such, but we would like to know how your character is acting. Show how they feel or think, don't tell.
2) Don't worry if this is too hard, if you have trouble you can either ask for help or just take it easy. Games are for fun, after all.
3) That said, no Role-playing other peoples characters.
4) No nonconstructive criticism. You can tell people how they can improve, but please don't be insulting, or get insulted by someone trying to help.
Off of the tower, about fifty feet up, stretched a small ten by ten balcony with a curtained entrance. A young man, looking roughly in his late twenties, with long amber hair, wearing a brown vest and emerald shirt, walked out onto the balcony and addressed the students.
"I'm pleased to welcome you all to this fine academy. Very soon you will be accepted through the gates in threes to take your placement exam." He gestures to the gates in question with a wave of his hand before lifting the other in a cajoling expression. "Don't worry, you can't fail this one, it's only to decide which classes will be best suited to your needs. Now, the staff wants you to feel invited to stay awhile, enjoy the refreshments we have prepared, and get to know each other while you wait. The tables next to the doors should hold anything you need, if not ask an assistant and they'll get it for you, I'll see you all again when it's time to start."

The massive flying boat that carried the students to the island dropped its anchor next to a tall tower, letting the students walk down the stairs while a small army of servants brought their luggage behind them. At the bottom of the tower was a large courtyard, lined with an equally large wall. Four gates could be seen, the smallest of which leading to a just visible town, the other three mismatched gates were nearly as tall as the wall.Arsion Academy, the legendary fortress and school in the eastern sea, is a place that hundreds of aspiring students apply to, not all are chosen of course, only the two hundred or so that can pass their entrance exam...
