Kian half-heartedly listened to his mother go on and on about the girl he was expected to wed. He patiently waited for her to finish before simply replying, "No." This evokes another 30 minute rant from her that he barely listened to. "Is she similar to the last?" was all he asked, recalling the last mess his mother had forced him to mingle with. "Her family's financial and social status is much higher. You can't let her get away. I forbid it." He scoffed, "It's not like we need the money." With one more pointed look from his mother, he sighed and went his way.

Annabella reached her parents and they told her about her new engagement. "No!" Annabela said. "Belle," said her father, using his nickname for her. "No! I am never getting married." "Annabella," said her mother, "This isn't a choice, you are expected to marry. This is what I spent everyday teaching you to do."
