Futuristic ARK: Survival of the Fittest (Closed)

"No joke, that thing looked massive," Vera agreed as she called the raptors back, "I'll get the spino."

"You do that," Jack climbed up onto hardhead to keep Roan from falling off, "I'll get Roan back to camp and see about putting him back together, you guys round up the carnivores."

"We got it," Vera said and looked to Anna, "Come on. Lets get these guys back to the camp."

Anna gave a thumbs up as she got on Occisor's back, "Good boy, Occisor!", she smiled at the raptor and directed it back the way they'd came. When they got back to camp, Jack had lain Roan down on his sleeping bag and was going through a lot of fiber and water cleaning him off and binding his injuries.

"Dilo venom," he explained, holding up a rag covered in green goo. "Blinded him and knocked him out."

As the girls watch Jack clean up the other man, Vera made a face. The venom smelled vile like Sulphur, "Smells horrible."

"It probably feels horrible too," Anna agreed as she came over to kneel down next to Roan, "Think he'll make it?"

"No broken bones, only minor scrapes and compy bite marks," Jack shrugged, "He's probably going to be asleep for a while, but when he wakes up he'll be right as rain."

"Compy bites? No wonder he's out," Vera commented, "I wanna hear the story about whatever that thing was."

"Join the club," Anna added, "I think we all do."

"I want to build these walls as soon as we can," jack sighed, "If another assault like that happens we're probably dead."

"We might have been dead if Roan hadn't gone off like that, " Vera said, "I'll help you out, Jack."

Jack nodded and stood once Roan was patched up as best as Jack's medical abilities could manage. "He should wake up in a few hours." He picked up his hatchet, "Until we find a dino that can gather a lot of wood very quickly, it down to human power to pull this off."

"Yep," Jack nodded, "In the engrams I think it's called "Large Wooden Wall" if you've got it, but we'll also need fence foundations to hold them up." Examining the wall of spikes, "But that's definitely not going to be the final shape of the wall, it's jagged and awkward, and doesn't extend far enough next to the slope for where a gate is going to be."

"Maybe we could shape it out. Draw it out in the dirt or something?" Vera suggested.

That sounded good, so Jack nodded, "Yeah, we can do that," he nodded, "Or lay down rocks along the path so it won't be invisible when we take a step back."

"Why not both?" Vera asked, "We could get an idea for what we want."

"Let's go get the paras, we've got a lot of ground to cover," Jack went to go get on hardhead. Lining up the stones and lines in the dirt to make a plan was probably as close as they could get to how he'd used paint to figure out the floor plan of the fortress.

Back in the hut, Anna was trying her hand at medicine, using a bone needle to stitch the worst of Roan's injuries closed and re-binding the minor ones with fresh bandages. By the time Roan woke up he was definitely patched up better than what Jack had done.

Vera made her way around the other slope, putting rocks down to show the line for the wall. It took a while, but eventually it was done.

Meanwhile, Roan began to shift and wake. He groaned, eyes fluttering open, "W-wha-"

"Nice," Jack nodded when he could take a step back and see where the wall would be. "Yeah, I think that will work." It also helped calculate the materials they'd need to build the wall, gates, and spikes on the outside to put it together. "That was a good idea, Vera!"

-----------

"Did you sleep well?", Anna asked with a smile, "Don't try to move around too quickly, I had to sedate you to keep you from waking up too early, the hangover sucks." Anna knew from experience.

"Hey, what can I say? I'm kind of smart," Vera said with a smile.

---------
"Is everyone ok?" He asked weakly, still trying to wake up.

"Yes you are," Jack gave Vera a clap on the shoulder, "I've gotta go do some math to figure out what we need for this." He started back towards the men's hut to make some Engram notes to work on.

------

"Everyone's fine," Anna nodded, putting a hand on Roan's chest to keep him laying down, "Those compies ripped you a new one, give yourself a break."

Vera hummed, watching the man work out how much they'd need.

------------
"And the Rex?" He asked, letting her lay him down again.

"There was a rex?", Anna looked confused, "Was that what that massive corpse was?" She'd thought it must have been some kind of massive predator, to give the spino any degree of trouble, but she'd never seen a rex before.

"Thats what is said. Wild female rex," Roan replied, "I stayed up all night... I just didn't feel right, and then I heard it walking.. I decided to go to it before it came to us."

"You should have woken us," Anna shook her head as Jack came in, "We'd have helped, we only found out what happened when the raptors went crazy."

"You're up," Jack noted.

"Barely," Roan replied, "Well, the thing is dead.. and I'm sore. I would have been fine if it weren't for those compies."
