Futuristic ARK: Survival of the Fittest (Closed)

"Shit." Roan could hear sizzling from down below as Jack poured out his waterskin on the fire the bird occupied, putting both out before it could spread to anything else. If the tower caught fire they were in for a rough night.

Roan made his way to Jack and the now soaked half cooked bird, "Everything good?"

"We don't know," Jack shook his head as he pulled the smoking bird out of the dead fire by its talons. "But I think we did it wrong."

"Doesn't look edible," Roan agreed, "Toss it to the raptors, I guess. I'll set something else to cook."

Jack nodded and tossed the bird into the raptor stable, letting the lizards squabble and tear it apart.

"She comfortable up there?", Jack asked, pointing up at the top platform.

"She's alright," Roan replied, "She said she'd call if she needed anything. I'm sure she's going made with nothing to do though."

"Hehe," Jack shook his head, "I bet she doesn't think this building was a waste of time now."

Roan laughed, "Sure, but I think she's had enough ridicule for one day. Save it for tomorrow."

It was true. After an injury, the comments made. Roan felt like it was more insult to injury than anything. And maybe he felt responsible for her getting hurt. It was his idea.

"Sure, sure." Jack waved it off and went to go add some more wood to the fire while Roan retrieved meat.

Roan started cooking the meat on the fire, making enough for everyone, "So, how much meat did you get?"

Jack pointed at Hardhead in the herbivore paddock, "We got enough that he was slowed down carrying us back." He was quite proud of that accomplishment, "As long as we keep the bins filled up with sparkpowder, it should last us a while.

"Perfect," Roan commented, "Plenty of narcotics and food."

Meanwhile, Vera sat outside, watching the sky as it changed from a multicolored painting to a beautiful starry night.

"Hmm?" Vera sounded, looking over, "Oh, yea, thanks."

Roan took some of the meat and a waterskin and made his way to Anna, "Hey, i hope you're hungry. I brought you food."

Jack nodded and sat down next to Vera as he handed her a slate of stone with her food on it, a makeshift plate. "Stars are nice."

Anna looked like she had been considering shooting herself out of boredom when Roan appeared, at which point she brightened up, "Oh, thank you!"

Vera nodded, watching the sky as she ate, "Its pretty."

"Getting bored? You look like you're dying, " Roan chuckled, handing her her food and drink before sitting on the edge of her bed to eat as well, "I can keep you company. "

Jack nodded, "Think the sky will be this pretty when we get where we're going?"

"Oh, my God, yes!", Anna laughed, "It's so boring being stuck!"

"I dont know," Vera said with a soft smile, "We're usually in bed before the stars come out."

Roan laughed at the reaction, "I'll keep you company then."

"Hmm," Jack nodded, "I normally keep the windows barred so Lil' Chicken doesn't get into trouble at night." The microraptor seemed to understand his words because it squawked indignantly at that.

Anna voiced her thanks as she took the food. "Can you open the windows, please?"

Vera giggled, "I think lil chicken was offended by that."

Roan quickly opened the windows, "Better?"

Lil' Chicken agreed, nipping near Jack's ear before hopping across his shoulders to sit on Vera's instead. "Lil' Chicken's too dramatic for her own good," Jack smirked and shook his head at the microraptors antics.

"Thank you," Anna nodded and smiled, looking out the window at the breeze that came in through the opened window. "The stars are beautiful tonight."

Vera laughed, joking with the man, "Youre just jealous she likes me better now."

Roan looked outside, smiling, "They are nice, aren't they?"

"Oh, you can take her," Jack laughed, "She's useless as an alarm clock." Lil' Chicken wasn't much of a crowing rooster, so much for being called 'Lil' Chicken'.

"Yeah," Anna nodded, "It's a nice view."

"Well, to be fair, She's a hen not a rooster, so you know.." She commented with a giggle as she offered the microraptor some meat.

Roan nodded, "Bet the watchtower has the best view."

Lil' Chicken eyed the meat sideways and then snatched it out of Vera's hand, barely missing Anna's fingers in the process. "She sure acts like a rooster," Jack rolled his eyes. "And she's gotten down feathers all over my room."

"Oh, it's the best," Anna agreed, "You can see for miles inland."
