Welcome to my interest check for Are You My Light?

This RP is intended to be a combination of a fated meeting between two people who share similar internal suffering, and a bonding experience where these two damaged people slowly learn to open up to one another and eventually help one another let go of the ghosts of their pasts and move on with their lives.

Although I'm a sucker for a good romance, this RP is not intended to be one right off the bat. If it happens to naturally start heading in that direction then that's all well and good. But I will not entertain any requests to make it a romance oriented plot/story, nor will I accept any requests to start nudging Lorraine in your character's direction romantically. I know who Lorraine is and what she needs, and if your character doesn't naturally provide that then there's no chance she'll fall for them. Period.

• On the outside Lorraine always wears a smile, speaks sweetly and with compassion and understanding, and never seems frazzled by things that go wrong. But on the inside she's a deeply lonely, dispassionate, and depressed young woman. Having endured numerous traumatic events from the time she was young she's struggling to define herself as a person and feels more lost with each passing year. Even so, she always fronts with positivity and never lets anyone see her in what she considers her "natural" state. Lorraine's one and only passion was art during her years as a child and teen. But, for reasons she's never openly spoken of she abandoned that passion shortly before graduating high school. And despite not realizing it herself Lorraine currently chases a state of being content rather than being truly happy.
  
• Lorraine was born to Helena and Michael Richardson, a Clinical Physician and Real Estate Agent respectively. Both parents were loving and respectful people. And the memories she has of them are some of the few positive memories she has. And, for that reason, she continues to them hold dear to the point of having built a small shrine at home to honor their memories which she pays respect to every morning after waking up.
  
  The first major tragedy which set the wheels in motion for Lorraine's decline from the upbeat, energetic, and artistic child she initially was came in the form of a freak accident. Her father, having been out of state on business, was shot and killed while having lunch with his colleagues as a gang war moved into the area and erupted into a shootout. When news reached home both Lorraine and her mother were stricken with grief, and things quickly turned sour and led to the second major tragedy of her life which was her mother's descent into alcoholism. By that same year's end, Lorraine's mother, being drunk once again, lost control of her vehicle on a rainy night and careened out of control and slammed the car into a telephone poll. The driver's side door was completely caved in and her mother's left leg had been partially amputated by the twisted and caved in metal resulting in her bleeding out before emergency responders could arrive in time to save her.
  
  Following the tragic deaths of her parents Lorraine ended up in foster care...
  
  What happens after this is a story for another time. And it's not a story Lorraine will speak of openly, or willingly. If you want to know more about her life you'll need to approach the topic with great care and finesse.
