HOSPITAL - 10:00am

This time of year could always be seen as the dreariest. Fall, the season of change when the happy refreshments of summer fade into the drab unforgiving chill of winter. It was late October, October 29th to be exact, and not a sound could be heard throughout the entire town. Ghost trails of what used to be lined the ransacked streets and not a soul could be seen. Southfield was quiet at the wee hours of the morning, the creatures that bump through the night returning to their resting holes and the unfortunate denizens of this cursed town slowly starting to emerge from their bunkers.
It was about 10:00 am now. The town was in full motion and people were rushing about to use what little daylight they had in the day. All save for a group of new strangers who had stumbled into the town. They all came at different times but they all arrived two days prior. It was the same for any newcomers to the town. The strange fog that encompasses the area did something to affect the senses and neural pathways. For people who were new, it typically put them into a small coma by the time they emerged from it but the people who've lived here since the beginning weren't as heavily affected anymore. Sometimes the effects were so strong that they wouldn't wake up and the townsfolk would have to deal with that. This new group seemed promising though since they've been able to stay stable thus far.
They would awake in a generic hospital room with nothing to illuminate the room except the light from the window reflecting off the creme colored walls. The light was blinding for a person who only just awoke after two days but a light headache and nausea were to be expected. Stomachs growling, head-spinning and legs wobbly weren't out of the ordinary. Disoriented and confused, they had no recollection of how they landed in this unknown place. Last thing anyone would have remembered was walking then nothing, no name, no appearance, just emptiness. There was a mirror in the room, should they look at it a few things would come back about who they were and memories from the prior week but everything from this week was gone, a complete abyss in the system. At this point most would panic, things might seem a little frightening to recall being home and waking up in a silent hospital room alone. A simple saving grace was left by one of the townspeople who catered to them while they were asleep, a note on the counter.
"Dear (Hopefully) New Friend,
This may seem a little weird but we're here to help you. This place you've unfortunately stumbled into isn't safe and isn't like other towns. Sorry to tell you but you're trapped here like the rest of us and unless we work together you won't survive. We've taken your things (sorry!) but you're free to get them back. I'm sure you're hungry and have questions so meet us in the town hall! It's the big red building down the road with the clock tower on it. We'll get you situated and back to full strength in no time!
Hope to see you soon,
Priscilla"
The note left instructions for meeting at the town hall as well as how to get there. Once leaving the room they'd enter a dimly lit hallway with all other routes blocked off save for the glass stairwell. They even painted arrows on the walls pointing in the directions they should go to get out without running into a dead-end. Upon exiting the building they'd see the ruin for what it was as the brisk fall air slapped them. No one was outside right now or at least not on this side of town. Cars were overturned and destroyed to bits, the few shops around were ravaged and all the windows busted through, liter flooded the streets. Even the front lobby of the hospital was destroyed. If they looked down the road to the right they'd see their objective insight.
