Description: Lux is a charismatic devil-may-care-type. She is a senior in art school but really not committed to school and doesn't care much about graduating, because what does an art degree do for anyone, anyway? She loves creating and also loves partying. She thrives on chaos and gets bored easily, so she cures that boredom by acting in unexpected ways. She'll invite the neighborhood hobo in to enjoy the party and chill with him when she's tired of everyone trying to impress each other; she'll silently leave out the back door in the middle of an intense one-on-one discussion and run off to hop the fence and frolic with the dogs in the dog park if she doesn't feel like dealing with your bullshit; she has a penchant for doing the most obnoxious thing at precisely the wrong moment but her sardonic wit, moxie, and charisma make you want more of her even when you fucking hate her. Description: Phlip is a very solid, loyal, taciturn kind of guy. He runs with his head and not his heart. He's largely a loner, but he has known Lux since they were little kids on the street and he is very protective of her. He knows she thinks of him as a brother and he certainly could never think of her as anything other than a sister, never... He goes to the same art school as Lux but he studies realism and plays the trumpet. He plays bass guitar for a shitty local band whose members usually show up too drunk or high to play, and he is always the one having to beg their gigs to give them one last chance. Description: Everyone thinks Yejin is crazy except Yejin. She sort of lives in the apartment, but sometimes lives with her turbulent on-again-off-again boyfriend and sometimes with her surrogate family, the Wilsons, who she calls her "white family." The Wilsons are actually the family of her best friend Caroline, whose father is the pastor of her church. Yejin--she will tell you it is pronounced "yay" (jazz hands) - "gin" (miming downing a bottle)--is sometimes called Yej, and will argue with her roommates that she does not have to pay rent for the full month if she is not there every night. Yejin loves fiercely, and her ups and downs with her boyfriend are absolutely heavenly or devastating to her. She sees no reason to ever filter her mouth and just says what she thinks, which is often irrational and offensive, which Lux loves about her. Yejin would describe herself as very down-to-earth, homey, loyal, and pragmatic, but no one else would describe her as such. Are we picking a particular city to place this in? Because I vote Baltimore or DC, which include some of the grimiest and also homiest places there are. Also, should we make it a small-ish building? Speaking from experience, in places where there are 10+ units on each floor, many floors, people don't really ever get to know each other.
