NEO HUNTSMEN
─PLOT SYNOPSIS
For years, since that fateful day in 1998 when the earth under Tokyo split and strange things were let loose into our world. The ones we call Demons, mindless predators of humanity who cause havoc and fear. And with the coming of dangerous, violent and manipulative demons, there had to be a coming of equally dangerous, violent and manipulative people to take them on. However, this was a new threat, no one knew how to fight them, and there was little to no regulation.
The police were largely ineffective, and as the demons spread across the world, many people took it upon themselves to protect themselves and their own neighborhoods, towns and communities. And with this, a business formed, The Huntsmen Guilds, collectives of people who trained as the mercenary's that fought and killed demons. Guilds popped up in almost every major city the world over and bigger cities often would have five or more. They developed their own subculture, one that was obsessed with cars, punk rock, rap, and more.
But, not all were equal. Some cities were cleaner than others, and as a result there was less need to have Huntsmen there. Most would travel as needed, until they found a Guild where their help would actually be needed. Where jobs were plentiful, and were that money flowed like water. It was cities like L.A., New York, London, Johannesburg, Rio De Janeiro and Beijing where the largest Huntsmen Guilds formed. But no city was ever able to top Tokyo. The place where the spirits first emerged into the world, was widely regarded as the Hunters Mecca. It was the place where people and spirits lived in both the most harmonious situation, and also the most conflicted one.
Demons ran rampant, and it became the place where Huntsmen from all over the world congregated, dreaming of being the next on on the news for defeating a powerful demon. It changed from a city of technological innovation and neon to a city of surrealism and bizarre occurrences. And for a city that was already considered just a little strange, the spirits only amplified it.
There were only two ways to battle demons on equal footing, the first was too take a powerful steroid known as Obi that amplified your physical abilities to superhuman levels for a period of time before needing to rest, the second was to be devour part of a demon and bond with it to gain it's power and become Dai or half-demon, though this is incredibly dangerous and combined with the fact that the success rate was less than 10%, is considered extremely taboo.
But Huntsmen and demons aren't the only beings that reside in this world, A new threat known as Disasters, Demons who are born with intelligence bordering human have appeared. These beings also crave the death and destruction of the human race but now have the power to organize together. So now you, the young brave Hunters, come to this city from afar. All across the world, or possibly from right here in Tokyo, you and your peers come to this Mecca to cut your teeth and prove yourselves against this new threat are you ready?
─CHARACTER ROLES
Huntsmen.
A Huntsmen is a specially trained professional employed by the Hunters Guild. They are tasked with the investigation, pacification and elimination of Demons/Disasters to protect the civilians of Japan from any potential harm caused by demon. During their investigations, they analyze crime scenes for traces of demon perpetrators, expose their identities, incapacitate or neutralize them.
In compliance with the Hunters Law, huntsmen must be constantly vigilant. After a crime scene has been found, huntsmen function like modern law enforcement. Using the clues that remain at crime scenes, they are able to distinguish certain characteristics about their targeted demon. Since the huntsmen as humans lack the physique, stamina, and strength to manually handle demons in combat, they are compelled to use Obi, the super steroid that allows humans to raise to the same or slightly lower physical attributes of demons for a short time.
Though some hunters opt to go for a more permanent power boost from devouring body parts of demons and become Dai or half demons. Even this isn't enough and so the development of V-Type weapons that are capable of damaging demons and disasters, started and has become the main way for dealing with demons. The hunters guild operates similar to a military or law enforcement agency, with a strict system of rank designating an hunters's abilities and authority. Rank determines an hunters' level of responsibility, access to high-risk missions and high rated targets, salary rate, and numerous other aspects of their career.
The Ranks are: Master- (The highest possible rank, achieved by the smallest percentage of Hunters. They are considered the strongest of all Huntsmen, and typically command operations) , Sub-Master- The second highest rank, achieved by a small percentage of Hunters. , Senior- (Most Huntsmen achieve this rank later in their career. It is typical for an elderly Hunter to retire at this rank, and their responsibilities are typically training a junior partner.) , Apprentice- (After completing training under the supervision of a senior hunter they are now free to take on missions on there own accord), Junior- (This is the rank at which almost all Huntsmen begin their career and begin training under a senior hunter.)
Disasters.
Disasters are a carnivorous humanoid species of demon that are only able to feed on the flesh of humans . They are as close to humans as possible: they normally display the same attributes; the same physical appearance (albeit some may have the heads of animals/horns and such) and intelligence as a human with the main exception being their inner biology, mentality, diet, and supernatural abilities.
Disasters have a high physical capability and are four to seven times stronger than the average human: they are able to send the average human flying if struck with enough force, and can penetrate a human's body with their bare hands, They are also capable of jumping to heights not achievable by a regular human, Their bodies are extremely resistant to injury. For example, if a Disaster were to be stabbed with a sword, the blade would break instead, suffering a small scratch that heals almost instantly. However, higher kinetic forces, such as a fall from a great height, can and will harm them. Disasters have a strong regenerative ability: small wounds and fractures heal in a matter of seconds. Larger wounds take longer to heal, but will usually vanish after a few days, as long as the disaster has access to an adequate food supply. Disasters have been shown to regain their strength and heal wounds almost immediately after consuming a small amount of flesh, suggesting that they can quickly metabolize their food to boost their regeneration. This regenerative ability varies among individuals, with some disasters exhibiting the ability to reattach severed body parts or regrow detached limbs.
Many of them have some form of supernatural ability as well such as controlling or manipulating fire, telekinesis, short range teleportation etc.
In extreme cases of regenerative ability, some powerful disasters can even heal severe brain injuries, reattach their severed head or upper body, and regrow large sections of their bodies. Though powerful and durable predators, Disasters are still far from immortal. Disasters and Demons are rated based upon various factors, including their basic strengths, activity levels, influence and hostility towards Huntsmen. In modern-day, there are five rating levels, from SS (the most powerful) to C (the weakest). Most of them belong to the Disaster organization "DarkMoon". The whereabouts of this group are largely unknown.
