Anyone into SciFi corperate intrigue?

eisforenigma

Boogie woogie woogie
I'm not! But I've got two stories that desperately need some intrigue! I was wondering if a lovely soul here on RP Nation could help a fellow out.

The first story is a futuristic epic set in our solar system post-terraforming of several planets and moons in our system, with tentative exploration of other galaxies ongoing. Corporations have trumped government for system-wide control, and though political power has not yet faded, its influence and resources pale in comparison with the business leaders of the verse. I need help building these corporations and their overarching plots as relating to the doings of my main characters; a ragtag team who happens to stumble upon one of the greatest cover-ups ever attempted in human history - the existence of alien life.

The other is actually a piece of fanfiction for the Alien franchise I've been putting together for a while, which follows 'Aliens' and ignores the following films for the most part. I need help coming up with Weyland-Yutai's reaction to the story Ripley and the others bring back home, a decision they make which requires Ripley's compliance (which she will be disinclined to give), and maybe some advice on how to handle the military/social aspects of Hick's physical recovery and Newt's proper placement in society.

Any and all help with these fields will be hugely appreciated. I can offer nothing in return but my undying gratitude, unless you'd like a brainstorming partner for your own works. I am a master of plot and a viciously constructive critic, and will be in your debt and at your service.

To begin with the second idea, the Alien franchise is 1979 IN SPAAACE.

For Hicks, therefore, you can safely do a bit of research into rehabilitative treatments and apply a mild sci-fi update or assume he gets treated like so many veterans - given the minimum treatment then dumped on the street.

Newt, honestly, is likely to be in just as dire a situation. WY doesn't have a great track record for ethics.

As for their reaction? Obvious - "yeah, okay, how do we get a sample for the bioweapons department?" Could go with the 'hugger on the escape pod' route.

First story!

Well, these things are best rooted in a degree of realism - what do these corps do? What are their major interests re: resources, products, demographics, PR? Based on that, why would they want to cover up alien life?
