Jaspreet is a laid-back character in general, known to be warm and friendly to those around him and show a bountiful love for his close friends and community. Not the richest, nor the poorest, he does his best to exude a lighter mood and appears wise beyond his years. Nonetheless, Singh is excellent at using sarcasm to repel most insults, and out of context questions about where he comes from. With a dry, witty comedy, Jas was able to defuse tense situations involving bullies, misunderstandings, and misinterpretations of his nationality. He fiercely defends the wearing of his turban, and as many Sikhs are, shaken to the bone with humiliation when removed of it harshly in public. Fascinated with ancient Indian history, as well as Middle Eastern, due to his heritage and stories from his grandfather, passed down through the generations. On Sundays and after lessons, Singh is found helping out at his local temple in the kitchens, or cleaning after services.

History:

His great-grandfather was a major in the Indian army during the fight for independence against the British Crown, to which his grandfather followed in tradition, remembering the independence of India being declared in 1947 at only 14. Without any foreign influence, a power vacuum appeared for a leader in India, where the turbulent times forced many to undergo a harsh life. As it became imminent that India was no longer safe, his grandfather and father escaped, claiming asylum in America. It was here, Jaspreet's father scraped by, working three jobs and studying in-between his lack of sleep. As they settled, Singh's father was to be arranged to marry a girl from the homeland, sent by ship after only one conversation over the telephone. It seemed hurried, brash, for his father was only a year or so away from finishing his higher education in university to become a doctor. Luckily, the arrangement proved to be a good match. 
Jaspreet and his two brothers came soon after.

Although they suffered racial slurs and increased suspicion, especially after the 9/11 attacks, they managed to uphold a peaceful way of dealing with the situations - to Singh, that was comedy and a spiritual outlook on existence. His love for history comes from his grandfather who, at 84, lives with the family. He recited Sikh stories about the Gurus and many of what the family had endured during the independence aftermath of India. The tales about hot, dusty carts shifting rice across the countryside, or brightly coloured spices that permanently tainted the air. And the vivid recollections of the Golden Temple. Harmandir Sahib, founded by the fourth Sikh Guru, Guru Ram Das. The holiest Gurdwara in Sikhism, and one of the greatest pilgrimages to undertake.

Personality: Noah is a quiet, shy academic, he'll support people who gain is trust but it takes him awhile to get to that stage. Doesn't like approaching people, preferring to stay out of the way unless someone wants to talk to him. He also becomes embarrassed easily and so tries to avoid being humiliated publicly. Seems to be quite sad and lonely most of the time.

History: Noah grew up in an honest middle-class family and his life was, for the start, a normal one. He was the oldest child and 6 years after his birth his new younger sister died in childbirth. Ever since that he's wondered why he survived and harbours an element of survivors guilt, knowing that he lived and the sister he never knew did not. His father, due to his job working overseas for 3-4 months at a time would often invite Noah to wherever he was at because of this Noah is way travelled and interested in other cultures. His life it seems, would be a happy one however during the most recent school holiday break his mother died due to aggressive leukaemia. This put Noah into a phase similar to the one he experienced at the time of the death of his sister, but now it was exacerbated by him having to start a new school.
