Fantasy Animal Instinct

Fall, when the leaves turn brown. Here in Bellevue, that means rain, and more rain. However, today we stumble across one of those days when it is just plain cloudy and cold. Kora shivered, tugging her coat around her shoulders, her earbuds blasting some high pitched anime music into her ears as she walked towards the parking lot.

On her way there, she bumped into something hard and heavy. Looking up, she could barely make out the face of a sneering classmate. "What do you want, punk." He threatened. Kora growled, standing on her toes so she was face to face with him. "For you to move, jerk." She said, shoving him aside and walking out the big back doors.

She looked forward, blinking at the sheer amount of light seeping tough the grey clouds. Blinking, she walked along the path, blissfully unaware of what was going on around her. She was lost in the music in her ears, and was quite glad she was, because otherwise she would have seen that she was walking strait for the forest near her house. When she finally lifted her head, she had no idea where she was.

Kora reached a shaky hand inside her jacket, turning her music off and wrapping up her earbuds, shoving it back in her pocket. "Just great...." She mumbled, looking around. She turns in a full circle, starting to regret leaving her phone at home. She sighed, letting her gaze rest on the horizon as she tried to figure a way out of his forest.

Just as she was about to step forward towards the direction she thought the road was, she heard a crunch of dried, dead leaves behind her. Snapping her head, Kora turned towards the noise. The sights would change her life, and turn her plain life into something a lot bigger than she would ever believe.

Before her was a majestic, large Bengal Tiger, standing tall and proud. His auburn eyes priced into hers, causing her face to pale and her hands to shake. She could feel her hands get clammy, the gathering in her palms. She reached out two gentle shaking hands, trying to sooth the animal. "N-nice kitty." She said, her voice cracking around the middle.

The tiger gave no sign of threat at all, but instead lowered his head to the ground. Curiosity took over her body, her brow raising slightly as she walked forward. As she got close, she could see a few scars dotting it's back, precisely where her's where on her human body. She kneeled down, looking over it's body. When she turned back to him, his golden eyes and nose where a mere inches from hers. Stretching out a gentle hand, she touched his nose. Suddenly a brilliant white light absorbed her vision and she blacked out.

Misha swore as he finally escape the mad house that the orphanage had become and into the cold. Today was cleaning day the busiest day of the week and nobody was excused. It's just his luck that last night Meri finally went into labor. He hoped he hadn't missed it though if it was his choice he would have stayed by her side and thus wouldn't have had the chance to miss it. Unfortunately the headmistress of the orphanage threatened to send him away if he stayed out there all night again and though he doubted she truly would being as sweet as she was he didn't want to take any chances.

Stuffing his hands in his jacket pocket to warm them he walked into the forest behind the orphanage with hurried but sure steps. He has been exploring this forest since he could walk and knew it like the back of his hand. He closed his eyes and breathed in the clean cold ear of fall which was one of his favorite seasons. He didn't bother looking as he walked allowing his feet to instinctively guide him to the meadow. The meadow was a large field covered in wild flower with a small stream going through it. It was a bonus that wild life seemed to be attracted to it. He had found it a few years ago and since then always went there.

After several minutes the silence of the forest was replaced by the sounds of life and he knew he had made it. Smiling he opened his eyes expecting to see his doe friend Meri pacing the meadow as she waited until she could give birth, or her laying down as she cleaned off her calf but she was nowhere to be found. Confused he turned in a full circle trying to find her but saw nothing. Turning back to the way he had come to go check her cave he froze as the meadow suddenly went quit. He knew from experience animals usually only went silent like that when there was A a threat or B something big happening. Usually it was C both. Wary of the sudden silence he cautiously turned back around and froze as he spotted the reason for the silence.

A large majestic monkey was standing tall and proud in the middle of the meadow though Misha had no idea how he got so close without him noticing. Uncertainly never encountering a monkey before he raised his hands as a sign of peace as he kept his voice calm and even."Hello there boy, what are you doing here? Your awfully far from home, aren't ya?"

He went silent as the Monkey approached noticing how calm he was. Even Meri his gentlest wild animal friend had been wary and easily irritated at first. It was in here DNA as she was a wild animal yet this monkey didn't even seem to care.

The monkey stopped a few feet away and sat bowing his head. Curiosity took over and he walked forward wanting to test how tame he was. The monkey didn't react as he kneeled beside it and looked over its body. He didn't see anything unusual except for three scars running down his chest which were mirror images of the ones he had himself. Looking back up he was met with two amber eyes right in front of him. Stretching out a gentle hand, she touched his nose. Suddenly a brilliant white light absorbed her vision and she blacked out. Stretching out a gentle hand, he touched his nose. Tim Ayers

Soccer fields

It was after school as Tim was playing soccer with some friends on the field near the forest. Smiling and having a good time as he put his boot to the ball aiming for the goal as he whiffed the shot completely sending the ball flying into the forest. "Oh far out." He said laughing as he was mocked by his friends for that shocker of a shot. "Don't worry I'll go get it." He said. "Yeah you better." One of his friends said as the got into a circle on the field to chat and laugh while Tim searched.

Tim just waved his friend off as he walked towards the forest stepping over some of the large roots. He could still hear his friends laughing and chatting in the middle of the field. "Come on Tim we don't have all day." One of them called after Tim as he ventured in the direction of the way he thought he saw the ball fly. "Where is it?" He asked himself and then he spotted it stuck in the branches up a tree. "How the hell am I meant to get up there?" He asked himself again.

Tim decided on climbing up the tree. Just taking it a branch at a time usually testing the branch. He could hear his friends from the field still yelling at him to hurry up. "Yeah yeah I'm coming!" He yelled back and smiled as he misplaced his foot and slipped catching a branch with a hand and he tried to swing his feet back up onto a branch to make sure he didn't fall until he heard the *SNAP!* of the branch he was holding onto and the next the he knew he was falling back towards earth. His body hit the ground with a thud getting knocked out by the impact.

He woke up around 10 minutes later with a headache but he could no longer hear the sound of his friends and the ball wasn't in the tree either. "Hey guys!" He called out to his friends but he got no reply. He shook his head and slowly got up. 'They are probably just being stupid.' He thought to himself and checked his body making sure he wasn't bleeding or had broken anything except for a gash on his arm a still bleeding cut above his right eyebrow. His next thought was to find his friends who he thought were still out on the field.

He began to walk in the direction that he thought was the field was in but the forest never seemed to end. "What the hell is going on?" He asked himself aloud as he took a moment to look around. He saw something disappear behind a tree. "Hey!" He called out to it, but he received no reply as he chased after the person or what he thought was a person putting up with the headache for now.

He ran around the tree that the 'person' had disappeared behind. "Hey why'd you run?" He asked as he leaned on the tree catching his breath and the he opened his eyes and came face to face with a lion. Tim went deathly white and backed away slowly. "Be nice now. I can get you all the catnip you want." Tim said trying to reason with the big cat. Tim noticed that it seemed very relaxed and docile. "Are you alright kitty?" He asked as he tripped over a root and feel on his arse. "Ow." He muttered, he looked up noticing the lion now mere inches from his face.

He could now see the lion better now and he noticed the bleeding cut on the lion in exactly the same spot at his and a gash on it's front leg. "What the f***." Tim said as he put a hand out to touch the lion now to try and pet the lion. He didn't know why he did it it just happened. He inched his hand closer to the lion and the lion tipped it's head forward touching it's the fur between it ears to my palm it's mane pressing against his palm. As soon as he felt the fur of the lion. His world seemed to close in around him in a white light and he passed out.

Jade sighed, walking alone back home. She watched, as multiple people pushed past her, sometimes saying, "Move it" or "Get outta the way".She shoved her hand into her coat pockets, feeling for her phone. Someone bumped into her, and she ended up on her butt in some persons yard. She sighed, scowling at the person who had bumped into her, before standing up. Only then did she notice, that her cellphone was laying a few steps back, broken on the pavement.

"You got to be kidding me! That was new!" She shouted, then moved over to collect the pieces. She winced, as her hand got cut on something, she didn`t know what. Most of the phone had been picked up, when her vision began swimming. 'What the hell??' The thought surged forward, creating a headache. She clutched at her head, standing and stumbling of of the sidewalk and onto the yard again. Her head fell off her head, as she moved to lay on the ground, covering her eyes. After a few minutes of that, she got up, stumbling back onto the sidewalk.

Her feet set an unstable course for home, but her mind was elsewhere. She, unknowingly, was headed for the forest. Her hat was held in her right hand, while broken pieces of cellphone were in both pockets of her coat. Her vision cleared, and the headache subsided to a tolerable level. It was at this time, that Jade noticed, she had no clue where she was.

She turned in a slow circle, then jumped as the sound of leaves crunching. She spun, only to see a Eagle standing behind her. She backed up, slowly, her hands hitting a tree. "N-nice bird-dy"she said, knowing eagles were aerial predators. The bird did nothing threatening, simply taking a few steps closer to her. It tipped its head sideways a little, staring at her. She gulped, uneasy and unsure of the situation.

"Good.. Eagle.."She said, reaching her hand out, expecting it to bite her. Instead, it moved closer, and touched its beak to her hand. She opened her mouth to speak, but then, a bright, white light filled her vision. She cried out in confusion, just before the world blacked out. The last thing she would remember, was the eagle, standing there, staring at her. And then, nothing.

The wind blew smacking Kita in the face as she ran. Her teeth gritted and she felt her body shivering. But Kita did not stop running. She knew that is she continued to run she will eventually warm up. And Kita needed a good run after a long week at Bellevue High School.

Kita jogged her usual path growing a bit bored at the same old views. Without her consent her body turned towards a new path. She didn't think about it much since she knew her way around the area.

Her heart began racing, and her breath shortened. Where is everybody? There must be at least someone. A vast expanse of trees greeted her. Kita slowed her pace in hopes of finding the right path to familiarity.

With her attention elsewhere she didn't spot an uproot from a tree peeping out. Her foot came into contact with it, knocking her to the ground adding more bruises and scratches to her scarred body. Kita cursed as she shoved herself up. She looked down to see minor scratches. "At least they aren't that bad. I've had worse..." she mumbled to no one.

She was momentarily distracted from her situation with the scratches until she heard a breeze. Her head shot up for the type of breeze she heard could only be made by something running. Kita shot her fists up in a fighting stance. She expected a human but instead found a large cat in front of her.

A Cheetah stood a ways from her. It's unusual blue eyes looking into her own. Kita gasped with a breath of awe. She felt some instinct to panic but she was unusually calm. Kita somehow felt a familiarity to the cheetah. She took a step back when the cheetah took one forward. Then she spotted fresh scars on its legs.

She gawker for they were identical to the ones she just received. The cheetah approached her once more, this time Kita allowing it. Kita stuck out her hand in which the cheetah placed its head on it. She gasped with a sharp pain inside of her as she was blinded with a bright light that soon brought her to darkness.

Clarence was heading home, straight from the fight club. He had a black eye and a bruised cheek, but his opponent got it worse. The fight had been quite rough, his opponent a huge man, but he sure was stupid. He got a lucky hit, managing to hit him in the face, but that was all he got. Clarence, having been always quick on his feet, easily dodged his blows, dealing jabs of his own. It was a punch to the jaw that downed that man, a strong and quick jab to the jaw and he dropped like a stone. His body was aching, but it pays the bills, so he can't really complain.

In a way, Bellevue is worse than the fight club. Those kids really are bratty and spoiled, having been raised on the wealth of their parents. They were obviously rich, flaunting the latest gadgets, following the latest trend, travelling to other countries, and they're not afraid to rub it in people's faces. These kids were class A pain in the ass, but he had no choice but to study there. He would have rather chosen a different high school, but he got a football scholarship in Bellevue, so he had no choice. He sees those spoiled brats as a necessary evil, more like an annoyance than a hindrance.

He sighed, walking through the woods. There are other faster ways to get to his apartment, but a trek to the woods is the most relaxing one. He needed to think, and thinking is made easier and calmer in the woods. Everything was peaceful and calm, the quiet chirping of the birds, the rustle of the leaves under his foot, the whispering of the wind. It was all nice and relaxing, until he heard it.

It was a low and deep growl, something only a big animal can make. There in the distance was a huge grizzly bear, looking straight at him. Clarence considered running, but he knew he would be outrun by that beast. And what's more, he felt drawn to it. Slowly, Clarence went closer to the bear, and the bear, surprisingly, went closer to him. Upon closer inspection, he has a bruise on his face, the same place where Clarence has his. He reached out, and the bear moved closer. The moment his palm touches the bear's snout, a bright light blinded him and everything faded to black.

Her parents had quarterly meetings practically every night, so Deneve was much more involved in her sisters' lives than they probably wanted. For the most part Stacey, the youngest, simply missed Mom and Dad. It was rough on her at such a young age, for she barely saw them in the morning and was well in bed and asleep by the time they finally managed to get home. Deneve did her best to console her; Stacey was a good kid and the two of them got along quite well, especially when Deneve would let her stay up a little past her bed time and put nail polish on her fingernails.

Helena, however, was a different matter. At fourteen, the teen believed that the world owed her for taking their parents from them for most of the day. Helena constantly ranted and rebelled against Deneve, even after their parents had told her that the eldest was in charge in their absence. Nothing was ever fair, and life surely had it out for Helena and her adolescent angst.

But today was Friday, and both Mom and Dad promised that they would shelve their work over the weekend, and spend the time as a complete family. Deneve knew that they meant well, and most times when such assurances were made they were kept. Occasionally, work intruded even on the weekends and Deneve understood that it was the price that they all paid for her parents to have such high profile jobs.

With Stacey finally asleep, Deneve retired to the living room where Helena, per usual, occupied the phone with her gossiping friend Taylor. With a roll of her eyes at the intrusion of her privacy, Helena stood from the long couch and stomped from the room. "God, can't I have any time to myself, Den?" Helena shouted over her shoulder as she exited to their father's study. The door smacked shut and Deneve could hear her sister venting through the thin walls.

Deneve shook her head at the display and reached for the TV remote on the coffee table. Just as she pressed the "ON" button, she heard a crashing noise from the kitchen door. A moment's panic subsided as she realized that there was no intruder; rather, something had caused the outside trash cans to tumble. Deneve exhaled, which blew some loose strands of her red hair from her eyes, and sat the remote down to investigate.

She passed through the kitchen and flicked on the switch for the porch light. "Probably raccoons," Deneve murmured and she surveyed the scene through the panes of glass in the kitchen door. True to her assumption, the cans had tumbled and trash had scattered across the porch and behind the garage.

With a growl of suppressed anger, Deneve unlocked the door and went outside to corral the garbage before the wind or other animals could make more of the mess. She started by the garage and worked her way back to the kitchen door which still sat ajar. As Deneve approached the trash cans, one of them shifted. Scratching noises were easily heard from within and Deneve froze.

She had never had to actually deal with the local trash monsters in the past – usually the light would scare them off. However, the current resident in the nearest trash can was oblivious to the light, or otherwise preoccupied with whatever treasures it had found within the garbage.

Deneve silently skirted aside and took a look inside the can. She stood an easy eight to ten feet from it, and the dark recesses within concealed its occupant. "Hey!" she shouted at the can, and the movement ceased.

Unsure of what to do now that she had ... whatever it was attention, she glanced at the trash she had thus far collected. In her hands she discovered a crushed soda can, so she tossed it at the trash can. The empty soda can bounced off of the trash can with loud clunk! and the critter inside shuffled around. Before Deneve could find ought else to toss, the nose face and eyes of a fox poked out and regarded her. Deneve almost chuckled at the encounter as the fox stared at her with accusing eyes for disrupting its repast. "Get out," she commanded and stomped her foot toward the fox.

"Go on," Deneve coerced with a tilt of her head. "Find someone else's trash can; you've made enough mess with mine." The fox continued to stare at her and Deneve started to feel uneasy under its gaze.

Several heartbeats passed where neither of them moved. Finally, Deneve decided that it was ridiculous of her to be wary of the fox. Had it been rabid, it would have already bitten her. She concluded that it was probably as scared as she was. Now that Deneve had conquered her initial fears, she felt confident that she now had the upper hand.

With less cordiality in her voice, she hollered at the fox again, "Get out!" She took two, loud stomping steps forward as she hoped to scare it away. In a flash, the fox darted from the trash can, so quickly that Deneve had no time to react. It raced directly at her and collided with her shin. The contact caused a blinding flash of white light, and Deneve listlessly dropped the trash in her hands as she collapsed unconscious to the ground.
