I return to the group."One of the little girls was sent from the mountain top the other day, she hasn't returned yet but we know she is alive, her mark hasn't disappeared yet." I said and looked around there were so few of us my father had taken a branch into the city to learn some stuff. It didn't help when you lived forever because every time you shifted you shifted new organs, new cells.

"I'm not allowed to talk about it with outsiders. My father forbids it." I said and looked down. I would tell Cross in private later.

Jepitha nodded. "Interesting." He was everything quite interesting.

"Oh I understand...so what will be our first move?" Cross wasn't sure what they should do first but he was pretty sure Emerald would know.

"We should search for the girl, she will tell us more." I said and shifted into my human form to lead them out.

"Alright,ya got any idea where she'd be?" He asked as he started following her.

I shook my head."If she got afraid she might have gone to see one of the elders, but i'm not allowed to take you guys there."

"Then what will we do while you check?" Cross asked,"and why are we not allowed?"

I looked at Cross."It's tradition, I would only be able to take my family there, or close friends, it's a very intimate place the elders live." I said and blushed."I don't know what to do okay!"

"Calm down,its all good." Cross chuckled." Just do what ya gotta do."

I looked at them all and then reached out and took Cross's hand pulling him along."Come with me."

"O-okay..." He looked at her confused at what she wanted and why she wanted him to follow.

Once we were out of ear rang I stopped."Cross, I want you co come with me to the elder, you might be able to understand them cause of your power." I said and blushed a little."Just say were close friends, and nothing more, the elders love gossip.

Cross nodded."okay....you sure you want me to come?" He asked not wanting her to get in trouble.

I nodded and lead the way along."Another warning about where the elders live, just don't say anything, the tree might grab at you, just let it." I said and smiled. We came to the big tree and I walked in and let the tree envelope me."Elders I have come to talk to you."

Cross followed her into the tree with slight caution,he stayed quiety as Emerald spoke.

I made sure I was in my true form as I walked in. I climbed up onto a platform and sit down."Elders I have come to talk to you. Has a little girl shown up here lately?" I asked and it seemed as if the tree responded. If Cross looked around he would find no one here.

Cross had followed her up and sat quietly down next to her,he looked around only a little to notice no one was there. But he figured there had to be someone here,they are shape shifters after all.

I reached out and touched the tree and it connected to my arm. I pull away after a minute."The little girl didn't come here but the Elders looked through the roots for me and they found her."

"Where is she?" Cross had turned his attention to Emerald when she spoke,these people do have weird ways but they aren't the strangest he's seen.

"She is hiding in a cave on the far side of the woods. But we have to hurry a bear lives in that area and it will kill her if she is found." I said and shifted into a bird."You go get the others i'm heading out." I said and took off.

Cross nodded and got up to hurry to get the others. Hopefully theyre where they left them.

Jepitha stayed in spot the whole time. He was looking around the village. "I can see why they live out of town." He said to himself.
