Totally human, I swear!
Budding minds may become the next great dictator, but not everybody is here willingly, some kidnapped in order to fill in a quota at this high school for future villains. Whether your parents enrolled you, you came on your own, or you were kidnapped from wherever you were before this…. Well, you’re stuck here, like it or not.
Welcome to the Tudor Lestrange Institute of Villainy and Henchmanship.

Beckett Nyx
Beckett popped out of the car, slinging a backpack over his shoulder. He could hear click of his parents doors opening as he pulled his suitcase out of the large car's trunk. Rolling his suitcase to the front of the car, he was met by his mother's embrace. She didn't say anything to him, but she didn't have to. When he left her arms his eyes were met with an icy look of disappointment. Beckett turned his eyes to his father who was now standing beside his mother. "Good luck, make wise choices and write as soon as you can." Were his father's words. "I will, I promise." Beckett replied coolly. The truths behind his father's wishes were that he would not care what Beckett did here as long as he didn't try to leave. Unlucky for his father, that was the first thing in Beckett's mind.He watched his parents load back into their car, making sure to wave them a smiling goodbye. As soon as the car was out of sight, he dropped the smile, Turing to face the front doors of his new school. A few lawyers, several strings pulled and lots of bribes later, Beckett would be attending this school instead of the jail time he should be serving. His eyes drifted to the newspaper sticking out of his suitcase. He pulled it out and scanned the front page he'd already seen a million times. It has a large picture of his face on it with the title. 'MURDERER!'.

Igor Sowaski, Vex Von Brandt, Malice Von Brandt, Dr. Brent Von Brandt
Sunfall27 Sunfall27

Dr. Von Brandt's SUV pulled into the parking lot to the Tudor Lestrange Institute for another year, but this time it wasn't just Igor and Vex in the car with him for this trip. Malice had joined them, not just to see her brother and his best friend off, which she didn't usually do, but to attend the school herself.
Malice, who looked up from the book she was reading nearly every five minutes since halfway through the drive to check if they were close yet, was beaming when she saw the sign indicating that they had arrived on campus. Even before Dr. Von Brandt parked the vehicle, she unbuckled her seat belt, eager both to stretch her wings and unpack her things.

"Well, looks like we made it," Igor remarked once the car was off.
"I almost thought we wouldn't!" joked Malice, springing her door open and getting out.
"I almost got an embolism, I swear." Vex complained with little irony, but lingered in his seat, the last to get out. Still, he stretched his wings like Igor and Malice, the silver-white tips of Vex's first few pinions contrasting against the mostly black feathers that surrounded them as well as the mottled, tawny feathers of his sister and his friend.
The three of them were a sight with their wings sticking out, and Dr. Von Brandt took a moment to marvel at his and his team's work. He was a proud father if nothing else.
Malice, meanwhile, had forgotten about her luggage and found a good spot on the front lawn to take off from. Unaccustomed to such long car rides, she felt inclined to make sure she could still fly.

"Hey, Mal!" Called Dr. Von Brandt as he opened the trunk hatch of the SUV "Don't forget your things!"
Malice dropped to the ground, the breath knocked out of her, and she ran again to her family.
"Oh, yeah!"
Grabbing their suitcases, the three adolescents said their goodbyes to Dr. Von Brandt and headed to the main building, though Malice stopped in her tracks at the sight of a newspaper. She'd only seen much of them in old movies, having been raised in a high-tech family who were indifferent to classism and planned obsolecence.
"Look at that, guys! I didn't think they made newspapers any more," Malice commented with awe, not realizing her accompaniment was getting ahead of her. Without a response, she looked around for Igor and Vex, and reasoned that they weren't too far ahead of her. Letting her curiosity outweigh her better judgement, she approached the young man who was reading the aforementioned newspaper, without seeing the title or name of the paper inquiring; "Where'd you get your newspaper?"

Maximus Headman
Maximus was overjoyed when he felt the car slow to a stop, thankful they finally reached their destination. His twin sister, Luna, didn't hesitate to quickly leave the car. Maximus had reached down to grab his bag when he felt a hand grab his shoulder. He he felt his heart race as he froze in place. "Keep an eye on your sister. I do not want any sort of trouble." Said a gruff voice that belonged to the same person as the hand that had left his shoulder. "Yes Sir," Maximus attempted to say calmly but it came out almost squeaky. He did manage to compose himself enough to get his trembling hands to grab his stuff and get out of the car.

Luna Headman
As soon as the car was stopped Luna opened the door. She roughly pulled her suitcase out of the car, making sure to slam the door. She took several steps away from the car while she composed herself. Carrying her suitcase, Luna waited for her brother at the front doors of their school. He finally left the car, getting his own suitcase out of the trunk. Once he pushed it closed the car began speeding away. Luna's twin brother, Maximus, slowly made his way over to her. "The least you could've done is say goodbye. It is polite after all" Maximus says to his sister with a pointed look. "They were no where near polite to us so I plan on returning the favor." Luna snaps back, turning on her heal to walk through the doors as another car was arriving and she didn't want to talk to whatever student might be in it. "If you fight fire with fire the world burns. Besides, I've done my research. There have been other werewolves here before so I'm sure we'll have the chance to meet some." Maximus follows close behind his sister as they enter the school and head to the dorm areas. "Sometimes I think the world should burn." Luna stated just as the two part ways to their dormitories.

Blaze McCoy
The old Ford truck that Blaze's father had brought him to this new school in pulled up to the main building of the campus. Blaze got out of the truck, grabbing his bag out of the back. His father dipped his baseball cap to him with a smile. "Hey, you'll find your kind here, love you bud." Blaze was shocked, it was the first time he could remember where his father acknowledged that he was different. "Thanks dad, I'll talk as soon as I can." Blaze responded with a weak smile. He sadly watched his father pull away from the building. Blaze turned to the large main building, hoping to find someone that could point him in the right direction. He was thankful to find two people talking by the doorway. The first looked like a normal guy but the other had strange wings and couldn't have been high school age. Blaze made his way over to them, finding them talking about a newspaper that the man was clutching like it was his life. He stayed quiet, not wanting to interrupt the man.

Beckett Nyx
Beckett hadn't noticed how long he had been staring at the page till a voice broke him from his trance. He jumped slightly, instinctively clutching the newspaper to his chest. "Oh, my parents get it delivered to our house." Beckett answered, calming his voice. He stuffed the newspaper into his inside jacket pocket, not wanting the curious girl to know. "Aren't you a little young for high school?" Beckett asked nonchalantly, wanting to change the subject.

Matthew Gambles
Matthew woke up with a pounding headache, completely disoriented. He looked around spotting the suitcase he had packed for the army boarding school he was supposed to attend. It was stringing far from Matthew, urging him to stand. He stood, his legs a bit shaky. Matthew had no idea where is was. From the pictures he saw online, it didn't look anything like the school he was supposed be attending. Looks can be deceiving, he thought it would be best for him to hear to the nearest building to hopefully get some answers. Matthew grabbed into the suitcase, using it as a walker since his legs were still weak and his head was pounding. Matthew slowly made his way to the large building he had woken up beside.

A foot stepped from the pavement onto the grounds of the school, and with a gasp, she came back to herself. Falling to her knees, she gripped the soft grass panting. Tears burned in her eyes as she regained control of her body. She hated when he did this. She could lose time: hours, days, she could never tell. It was just one blink to the next for her. The only sign she had for what happened to her body were healing wounds.

With a shaky breath, she did her usual check. Surprisingly, nothing hurt, though that didn’t mean anything anymore, not with her healing factor. Running her tongue along her teeth, she nicked it on one of the fangs that she would never get used to. She could taste his blood. She’d been fed. Looking down at the inside of her forearms, she poked at the pink skin. The indentation whitened then quickly refilled. She felt stuffed.

Raising her head, she looked around. She was kneeling in the grass of a lawn of a massive castle? It wasn’t as tall as she’d been told skyscrapers were, but it was at least twice the height of the largest horse barn she’d seen. Around her were children, obviously bringing in luggage as if to stay. Cars were dropping people off: she eyed one truck. Could she hide out in the bed? Maybe talk to one of the adults? She knew an Amber Alert would be out for her. All she had to do was find a police station.

One even looked empty. Could she drive? She’d never done it before, but her driving erratically would just get the police’s attention faster. But…what if she killed another person? She still remembered waking up to that cooling body…

With a shiver, she gripped the grass and told herself to focus. She needed to get out of here. Wherever here was. She stood, started to spin in a circle to see her surroundings and stumbled over a large box--no, suitcase right beside her. Luggage. Like the other kids had. An orphanage? A school? What was this?

Swallowing down the fear in her throat, she looked around. Judging by the colors of the trees, it was autumn. A terrifying thought, as it hadn’t yet been summer when he’d taken her. Right. Focus. The weather felt normal for autumn. Nippy, maybe about to rain, but normal enough. Behind her, the forests and fields could have been anywhere. The road was well cared for, paved, maybe well traveled? She couldn’t be too far from Virginia. She wouldn’t have put it past him to keep her in Virginia for his sick pleasure.

Should she take the obvious route? She scanned the treeline. She couldn’t see anyone. Though she swore he had a way to be invisible. But she had to try right? Leaving the suitcase beside her, she strode through the gates. A blink and then she was back where she started. She couldn’t even remember her foot landing on the pavement. And this time, she hurt. Of course, he was watching.

And she’d made him angry. Gingerly, she lifted her shoulder, trying to see the movement she could manage. Just bruised. He made it hurt, but it’d heal within the hour. That was how freaky she was now.

More importantly, how much time had she lost? She hadn’t taken any note of the teens, but there were still people arriving. It was probably the same day. Probably. Unless there were multiple days to arrive. She looked down at the paper she now held. It was an acceptance letter. To the Tudor Lestrange Institute. It boasted of creating the evilest students. Was this a joke? ‘At least he didn’t put me in a nunnery.’ It included a room number and the name of her roommate, a Rathbone Diggs. What a strange name.

She couldn’t see any alternative. She had to do this. What the hell the rules for a school for evil even were, she was loath to find out. Especially the punishments. He probably couldn’t watch all the time, she just had to wait, stay under the radar and leave. She’d survived him. She’d survive this. Why did she worry she’d wish she hadn’t.

Stepping forward, her hand reached down and grabbed at the suitcase without her permission. She froze, then slowly turned her head down to look at it. He could do that? Her heart roared in her ears as she tried to gasp for breath. Then there was a chuckle. Just behind her. She spun, her hand still clasped on the handle, causing the suitcase to swing out wildly as if it were empty, but nothing was there. Still.

Her flesh prickled and she couldn’t suppress the shudder. Right. She knew better than to fight this. She’d take the suitcase. Swallowing, she turned once more and headed toward the building. Her eyes scanned her fellow…classmates? Prisoners? Could she trust people who came willingly to a school for evil? But what if they didn’t? Like her.

A trio of teens with wings stood out. A normal man in a scientist’s jacket accompanying them. Two blonds, likely siblings from the way they smelled…no, the way the looked. They just smelled different, that was all. It wasn’t like she’d smelled a lot of people before now. She was just grateful for how stuffed she felt. What was she going to do about…the hunger? That was a problem for later Dani. She had enough to deal with already. That was sure to be another regret.

A boy stood out. Leaning heavily against his suitcase, walking similar to how she’d move when she was beaten. If he had been beaten, then he was unlikely to be here willingly, right? Or would it be best to ignore him…stay under the radar. Not helping someone who needs it, was not good at least.

She was quick to cover the intervening ground, pulling up beside him. “Um…” her voice was hoarse and it was more difficult to get words out than she expected, “Do you need help?” Probably the worst words to ask if he was evil, but she was being…optimistic. Which was likely going to be the third regret by the day was over.

Sharon Angler
(Open for interaction near the edge of the woods)

Sharon scanned the skies for the return of her demon, Thorntalon, and the goods he carried in his talons: a half dozen Cannoli from Collodi's Restaurant & Bakery in her hometown of NYC. It was taking longer than expected for the sweets to be delivered, and she wondered if Thorntalon was in any sort of trouble, or if the line was just too long, but either way she knew she had an impression to make on her new roommate and it would not bode well if the two had to share something less innocuous on the first day.

Knott Lazarus
(Open for interaction in the dorm hallway.)

Knott was in a mad scramble to get their belongings to their new room without any more of them being stolen. Already, they couldn't keep track of what had happened to six potions and a dagger of darkness, which meant that those items were likely in the hands of someone who would use them for evil.

Sheila Killaever
(Open for interaction outdoors)

The gown of chain mail ce was wearing over simple white dress clinked against itself as Sheila patrolled the school grounds in search of stray students who might need direction. Clipboard in hand, ce kept a watchful eye for movement, but many of the students that lay drugged on the ground had yet to awaken. More yet didn't arrive. Others still were already being attended to by other teachers and staff members. Ce had yet to come across anyone in need of cir assistance or whatever you might call it if you didn't want to be on school grounds.

Malice Von Brandt
Sunfall27 Sunfall27

Malice briefly laughed at the comment that she was too young for high school. The self confidence of her tone was encouraged by the fact that she was told not to show weakness, and she didn't feel particularly vulnerable anyway.
"Yeah, but so what? They let me in anyway. Dad had to pull a few strings for it, but at any rate I think I can manage."

Vex Von Brandt & Igor Sowaski

Vex and Igor had nearly crossed the entrance hall when they paused and made wordless eye contact with each other. They had just now realized that they had lost Malice, and that they'd better find her.
"Ugh, she would disappear like that," Vex sighed, We'd better find out where she went."
Igor nodded, and the two turned around to retrace their steps, in their hurry looking and scanning for Vex's younger sister.

Francis Sato
(Open for interaction!)

Shivering cold from both the air conditioning and his heart rate being slowed by the anesthetic used to knock him out, Francis didn't realize that he was even farther away from home than he had first hoped. Problem is, he would certainly not like this place either. When he finally got up, he realized that he was in some sort of theater. There was a paper taped to his arm, which he puzzled at, but ignored for now. The realization that he might be in danger sobered him further, though he was unsure if he was truly awake. What looked like a dead dog in one of the aisles had him reeling with fear, and he first staggered between the seat rows, then ran clumsily to the nearest door in the opposite direction, flinging it open and weaving through the crowd of teenagers with suitcases before stopping at the other end of the room.
'Mom's going to kill me!" He said, absolute terror in his voice.

Knott was in a mad scramble to get their belongings to their new room without any more of them being stolen. Already, they couldn't keep track of what had happened to six potions and a dagger of darkness, which meant that those items were likely in the hands of someone who would use them for evil.
"Vampire." A voice says. and Knott'd find themself confronted by someone who'd somehow snuck up behind them, in spite of the fact that they were, very much so, a creature of the night, and thus naturally attuned to their surroundings. "I see you are struggling to make your way to your newly designated sleeping quarters. I can analyze from your necro-biometrics that you are of the lesser variety of your kind, and thus I am to assume that while you could be a valuable specimen from a biological standpoint, due to the inherent presence of non-cancerous immortal and regenerative genes in your DNA, I am also to believe that you cannot fend for yourself. I will offer to escort you to your room on this one occasion in exchange for a biological sample."

The girl was tall, with long red hair, red, spiral horns, and something very... Very clearly artificial about her body. She had the aura of someone who had an extreme hate for the imperfections of those around her, a desire to levy them as much as she could for some sick, incomprehensible goal that would ultimately be for the detriment of the human race.

"I may extend my offer for a prolonged period of protection for continued loyalty of other varieties. However I make no promises if you prove to be a detractor to my goals or that I will not be commanded to eliminate you on a moments notice."

Sharon scanned the skies for the return of her demon, Thorntalon, and the goods he carried in his talons: a half dozen Cannoli from Collodi's Restaurant & Bakery in her hometown of NYC. "Hey! You look hungry!" A voice says, as a puddle of creamy white sugary stuff warbled its way up next to Sharon.

A pair of eyes appeared in the puddle, followed by a smile, and after a few moments, a girl who's body was covered in syrup arose from it. "Are you hungry? I can tell when people are hungry!" She says. "If you're waiting for food, I can assure you I can make anything you'd want... Probably... Cannoli, Cream Cheese Pasta, Chocolate Frogs, The entire Mcdonalds menu, any number of things! Oh, but, in case you're hungry because you're dieting then... WHY WON'T YOU EAT MY FOOD?!" She says her eyes quickly drifting apart diagonally as she leans forwards for dramatic effect, before laughing, leaning back with her eyes returning to normal. "No I'm kidding, some people just have poor taste by not wanting to eat."

Lady Moldoma Lady Moldoma

Knott gasped at the very rare occasion of being sneaked up on, their eyes locking with those of the being who had previously been behind them. Their grip tightened on the drawstring trash bag that was in their hands, containing a grimoire and the remainder of their clothing.

"Now that's what I call a proper villain's greeting." Knott said dryly when they had heard out the bio-android's offer, "But I must ask, what do you plan on doing with this.... What do you want a sample of, come to think of it? Blood? Saliva?" Knott was tempted to ask if this stranger wanted their left kidney, but thought better of it.

A sweetened smell was carried in on the wind, one stronger than the expected cannoli. Sharon looked around for the source, and saw the suspect puddle of syrup beside her morph into a girl around her own age. Sharon could sense it wasn't Thorntalon in disguise, but now could sense his presence somewhere.
"I'd take up that offer, but I'm expecting an order of cannoli anytime now. It's being shipped in from quite the hike. New York City to be precise."
Sharon looked upwards once more, and this time saw the familiar sight of a kestrel on the wing, carrying an improbably large package in its talons for such a small falcon. The bird soon retraced its flight back behind the line of trees and disappeared somewhere in the brush.
"Hey Stupidhead! What are you doing?" thought Sharon to Thorntalon telepathically as she watched demon bird vanish into the forest, her eyebrows crinkling.
"Making certain that your precious cannoli won't be trashed if a fight ensues."
replied Thorntalon.
"Oh." Sharon said out loud, her expression relaxing.

"It would not be prudent of me to suggest your urine, regardless of how villainous it would be. Any form of dna will do. Testing that has been deemed one of the many un-ethical crimes of Organization Q, has allotted me with a wide variety of options for its analysis, so I would be capable of working with, as aforementioned, any form." The bio-android responded. "As much as a bit of hair or a few flakes of skin would be acceptable." She says. "If you are feeling particularly selfless for some odd reason, you might consider offering me one of your non-essential organs? I have never been able to inform my creators that I have a vampire appendix waiting for them." She says. "I can assure you that any prosthesis that Organization Q could provide after studying said organ for abnormalities would be several times more efficient than anything your body would naturally possess." She explains. "But, most people are not keen on donating non-esssential organs, so I leave that decision up to you."

"Aww, that's too bad. I'm sure whatever I could make is better, but if you've already spent the money then I don't wanna infringe on your contractual obligations." The girl says, downturning her expression a bit before breaking back into a smile. "Here! I know! Why don't we wait for it together? We can be pals!" She says. "I'm sure waiting every day for food from New York is gonna be a pain, so maybe if you let me take a look at one of those Cannolis, I can make copies for you! It'll save you the time and the money! And you'd be detracting your business from the prying wallets of those greedy new york bakers, which is deliciously inconsiderate and evil! I can't recommend it enough!"

StrixDesmodus StrixDesmodus (Knott)
Lady Moldoma Lady Moldoma (Mamimi)

Most of the drive was silent. Honestly, Monti was still surprised every year when his "father" wanted to actually escort him to school rather than just sending him in a cab. Then again, maybe he expected Monti to take off and run. He couldn't guess why. This was his third year, after all. He'd agreed to go to this school. Yeah, he didn't exactly love it, but he didn't feel inclined to spend his time elsewhere. He'd survived this long, hadn't he?

He still held quite a bit of resentment for the man. Only because he was sure the man resented him too. His father had gotten bored of him. The novelty had worn off. And at some point, he must've realized, at the rate he was going, he'd be feeding Monti for the rest of their lives, and there was nothing he was interested in getting out of the arrangement anymore. He'd raised Monti too soft. In an environment too controlled. He didn't know how to "hunt" or "provide" for himself. If he didn't learn, then he'd never be able to be truly independent as an adult. He wouldn't survive in the "wild". In other words, his father would never be able to get rid of him.

It was better than killing him or dumping him out in the cold with zero survival skills or selling him to another scientist, at least…. He'd give the man that. Apparently he still cared on some level. And if a semi-normal life wasn't going to be a possibility anymore, then Monti had little choice but to do what he could to prepare himself for what his adult life would inevitably look like.

Woods eventually gave way to a hill topped with an impressive castle. There were only a few other cars, either lingering or on their way back out. The ride was at an end. "Be safe, alright?" his father said.

"I'll do my best," he muttered, pulling his earbuds out and shoving his cracked phone deep into his backpack. (An old and unimpressive phone was less likely to be stolen.)

His father popped the trunk. "Maybe try to make some friends this year? It could make things less stressful."

He gave a weak huff of a laugh. "'Allegiances' are more trouble than they're worth. I'd rather not have to second guess every interaction, thanks." Would he like to have friends? Of course. Would he like to go through the whole manipulative song and dance that could be villain 'friendship'? No. Not really. It didn't stop him from being cordial, at least.

He climbed out of the car, pulling his backpack over his shoulder. He was really hoping to avoid an awkward goodbye. His father still felt obligated for some reason to actually act fatherly at times. It didn't suit the man.

The window was rolled down before he could even close the door. "Keep me updated this time, alright? I mean it."

He couldn't see why he would owe him that much. "I will," he called, already pulling his suitcase out of the trunk. He shut it and turned away, setting off towards the castle.

"Goodbye, son!" called his exasperated father.

He waved lazily without turning around.

He didn't want to waste time out in the open like this. Hardly anybody knew or remembered that this is what he looked like and he wanted to keep it that way. He wanted to get to his room so he could change as quickly as possible. He would've arrived already in his other form if the car ride wouldn't have been unbearable.

Having spent most of his summer looking and acting human, he felt awkward and uncomfortable in his own skin. He used to feel that way about the other side of the coin, feeling clumsy and uncoordinated, but now he felt cramped. Like he needed to pop his back and just about every joint in his body. (He'd taken up yoga. It helped.) It wasn't even that he hated being human, (he still kinda wished that's all we was; wished he had real options in his life) but he'd just gotten so used to it not mattering and being able to switch on a whim while at the institute. There was a lot about the place that he still wasn't comfortable with, but for once, his own body wasn't one of them.

He ignored the few people who were out cold in the grass as he passed them.

It was in poor taste to go after involuntary students before they had even the chance to find their footing. It wasn't unusual for new, hasty voluntary students to try and establish themselves as soon as possible by making a kill. It was a cheap shot. Cowardly. It wasn't worth much to take out such an easy and helpless target. The longer you let them be, the more challenging it was, the more meaningful, the more it would be worth. An unspoken rule of thumb was to wait until they at least got classified two weeks in. If they didn't manage to get their shit together by then, it was open season.

Of course, not everybody even cared about things in the vain of honor and fairness. Or rules. Spoken or otherwise.

Monti didn't like killing. Call him soft, but it still freaked him out. He'd be a vegetarian if it didn't feel hypocritical and pointless. He hadn't killed anybody at school since his first year, and even then, it had been an accident. It was self defense. He'd underestimated his own strength and just how sharp his claws were, but then, so did Mason. Poor bastard was an asshole, but it didn't mean Monti didn't still feel just a little guilty. It had been so shocking for him, but afterwards, he'd resolved that if he was going to kill somebody, it would be because he meant to. He never meant to, but at least he'd felt better about it.

It seemed that his reputation was that he kept to himself for the most part and wasn't a threat so long as he wasn't provoked. They said he could be much scarier than he acted.

The Institute had desensitized him to most violence and he used to be much more squeamish before all of those biology courses. It had been a hard adjustment for him to make, being an overall empathetic person by nature, but he'd come to learn that it was either eat or be eaten.

He hefted his suitcase under his arm to get up the steps and passed by anybody lingering by the gate or in the entrance way, drawing little attention in his purposefulness. He got to the dorm hallways and pulled his letter out of his pocket to remember which room he was in.

He passed by a boy about his age getting swindled into a protection deal. He considered stopping to give his two cents or possibly come in for the save, but thought better of it. He wasn't familiar with either of them and he wanted to get changed before he got himself into anything. Besides, neither looked or smelled human. One he could identify as a vampire, but the other… he had no idea what he was looking at. He didn't like getting himself into things with minimal knowledge. At least nobody seemed in actual danger.

He rounded a corner and found his room, using the key that came with his letter. The door was sturdy, but anybody determined or knowledgeable enough could get through it easily. It looked like he was the first one here. All the little white boards on the doors were blank. Being a senior and knowing the value of being bold, he didn't bother waiting for anyone else to decide on rooms with. He chose one close to the door to the hall but without a window.

He wrote his name on the board, trading the half dead marker for the best one among the others, and doodled a border with sharp teeth. As soon as the other rooms were claimed, he'd erase the name. Nobody outside of his roommates needed to know where his room was.

An unofficial rule among the students was based on the fact that everybody liked sleep. Everybody liked to have a safe private space, though that wasn't respected nearly as much as just how sacred a good and full night's sleep was. It was an unspoken agreement that if you were going to fuck with somebody beyond a relatively innocent prank, unless it was in retaliation to the same offense, you didn't do it while they were asleep in bed. Otherwise, everybody would be sleeping with one eye open and everybody would be miserable. It was a common courtesy.

Another rule of thumb was not to fuck with your roommates. It was just plain unwise. You didn't have to like them, but if you valued any level of trust or safety within your own room, you didn't stir anything up at your home base. Any disagreements were addressed outside of the dorm.

Door shut behind him, clothes pulled out, luggage under his bed, Monti could finally change. He groaned as he stretched, every ligament in his body crackling satisfyingly as his limbs elongated, the color of his skin going dull and his nails thickening into claws. His gums bled as his teeth expanded and lengthened, his jaw jutting out into a snout, his nose taking a more reptilian shape. His long thin tail sprouted into being and in meer moments he had to stoop slightly to avoid brushing the ceiling with his ears. He stretched, arching his back and shifting his shoulder blades as he yawned, popping his jaw properly into place the rest of the way.

He licked at the coppery taste on his teeth with his long tongue. "That's what I get for not flossing, I guess," he muttered to himself as he grabbed one of his two school uniforms to change into.

It wasn't required, but he liked how well tailored the uniform was. It actually fit him and it didn't make him look half bad. It wasn't the worst way to start the school year, and staff seemed happy when students, especially seniors, wore them willingly.

He made his way back out into the higher ceilings of the rest of the school, his joints still giving a little crackle here and there, but his body would settle soon enough.

He'd been quick. The vampire and… other person were still there.

It wasn't that he wanted to make friends…. Though that could be nice, but he was a Lestrange Institute veteran now. As annoying as the suggestion from his dad was, it wouldn't hurt to be more sociable this year. He was well established by now and he couldn't slip into the background as just another scary but quiet oddity forever. As much as he was kind of proud of going unranked for so long, he was sure the teachers weren't nearly as impressed and intrigued by the fact as the students were. It was about time he tried to actually incorporate himself into the social dynamics somewhat.

As fun as it was to just let hushed stories and rumors about him be the only impression new students got of him, it wouldn't hurt to properly introduce himself to somebody. Besides, it was a good idea not to let yourself be too predictable.

He hunched over to be closer to eye level, despite the hair in his face, as he lumbered towards them, tail trailing along lazily behind him. He made a little bit of a show of smelling at the air. "I don't think I recognize you two." His voice tended to come out a little lower, drier, tired, and a bit slow in this form. It just felt right. There was a slight rumbling quality to it as it all came from somewhere a bit deeper than the average human vocal chords. His teeth barely parted per syllable. "Are you new students? I'm Monti. I'm a senior. This is going to be my third year." That felt like an appropriate amount of information.

Knott grinned at the idea of their appendix being the sample. Now that would be something if they didn't have it removed before they became a vampire.
"My appendix was removed when I was eleven, but I guess you can have some of my blood, or like you said, some dandruff. What's this organization Q, anyway? What sort of goals were you talking about? Aside from potentially eliminating me at a moment's notice?"
As much as Knott wanted the protection given the possibility that they might be de-roomed, they knew not to trust just anyone in a place like this. They at least had to ask some questions.
Just when Knott had asked his questions, the creature they had seen around the school now and then came by, wearing the uniform just as always.
Introducing himself as Monti, Knott was surprised that the creature didn't recognize them.

"So that's your name." Knott responded, "Sorry for not introducing myself. I'm Knott and my pronouns are they/them/theirs."

Now, Sharon was seeing dollar signs at the mention of making copies of the cannolis. Perhaps she could make a pretty penny selling or bartering them, depending on how this scheme could work.
"Now that sounds like an idea," Sharon mused with a grin, looking back to the dessert devil. "We could be rich! We could make a fortune and out-compete the inferior cafeteria desserts. That is, if you want to reach a broader clientele. "
"Get back here with those cannolis, Thorn. We're gonna make some major dough."
"Just be careful. I'm not the only devil here."
"I think I can handle this, just turn around back here with those cannolis."
"Alright, here I come."

Thorntalon flew back into sight with the package of cannoli in his claws. He made a little screech to alert his presence, swooped down, and dropped the package into Sharon's now ready arms. Circling overhead, then landing backwards on Sharon's shoulder, he turned around to have a look at Alice.

Sato Sukuna

"The river in the forest, it bled crystal clear water. I found it calming, despite my nature."

Eager foosteps tore through the entrance of the Institute. A young man with a chiseled face hid under a hood. A prominent scowl painted across their expression, as it had always been. 3 Years, 3 long years. Sato Sukuna had finally returned to the hellhole. This was all he had, and probably all he ever could have. No connections; no laughter, no friends, no cherished allies. Sato was entirely, and truly alone in this place. The education was monotonous at best, yet still he passed his classes only if to spite and laugh at in secret those who wished he could fall and eat dirt. Sato was not so above his self-awareness that his pride pushed him to revel in catching other students off-guard. A brute he was, but a brute with at least smidgen of his brain devoted to education.
His time away from the Institute was worth less to talk about. All it had become was traveling, to different places; finding new locations to train and do so in solace with only nature and its unyielding balance to accompany Sato.
Finally, he was here.
Finally...

BACK HOME!
Sato's scowl turned into a nightmarish grin of excitement. His dull, yellow eyes seemed to sparkle with adrenaline. A rolling chuckle emitted from his mouth as he threw his arms out wide, with no worry of other students being around.

"AHAHAHA!!! YES! BACK HOME! THIS IS WHERE I BELONG! NEW YEAR, NEW STUDENTS WORTH THEIR LICK OF EXCITEMENT!"
Sato clenched his fists so tight that it sounded like bones were being crunched with each second.
"Don't disappoint me, or I'll be REALLY mad." Sato grinned at the Institute, like he was talking to it, demanding it give him exactly what he wanted out of all of this. Sato had been gone for far too long, and now that he was back he could finally feel at peace. Being away from the Institute was like trying to scratch that invisible itch- something that you could only find euphoria in after you've itched it...But nobody else could truly understand or even know what you experienced. Sato hated being away, and would one day petition he stay at the Institute forever, to evermore find higher heights and reach to an unreachable peak he set himself upon.

To hell with any student he passed by. Nobody mattered to him. There was only one, and possibly only one student that actually mattered to Sato. Not out of obligation; devotion, care, love, trust, or any other kind of foolish emotion that didn't involve him getting exactly what he wanted.
No this was a very VERY important student. One that could change everything at a moment's notice, and perhaps even throw everything into disarray if Sato could mesh (or lack thereof) with them. Sato had to make perfectly sure that this important student didn't get in the way, ever. So long as they stayed in their lane, and his to his own. They could get along...Maybe.

Sato's roommate.

Rounding the corner to his room, he finally made it to the plaque over the door with two distinct names carved into the metal.

"Stephanie Rain."

...Who the hell was that?! Did Sato even know her? Had he ever paid attention to others though? Perhaps he had seen them before. Or noticed them...Had he been in the same room with them before? Sato grumbled to himself, they didn't seem like a very important person if Sato forgot about them. Kicking the door open to allow his entry, Sato took his claim of the apartment. A side dedicated to his very, very minimalist equipment.

Ah. Well. That was embarrassing. Apparently he didn't pay as much attention to everyone around him as he thought. Maybe that's what he got for hardly talking to anybody. No wonder he didn't have any friends, god damn.

"Huh… my mistake." He was glad his facial muscles weren't very flexible like this and that his tough skin didn't show color. "He/him, but I don't mind they/them. Knott…" the name rang a bell. "You know, I think we might be roommates this year." He took his letter back out of the pocket he'd switched it into. The papers looked much smaller now in his long fingers. It detailed the dates and times of events that would be occurring in the first few days along with housing information. "Knott Lazarus. That is you, right?"

"My appendix was removed when I was eleven, but I guess you can have some of my blood, or like you said, some dandruff. What's this organization Q, anyway? What sort of goals were you talking about? Aside from potentially eliminating me at a moment's notice?"
"I am forbidden from discussing the true goals of Organization Q. Although I can assure you that the elimination or containment of vampires is not their priority, in case that provides you with any sense of ease or reassurance." The android explains to Knott. "As long as you are useful to my endeavors, you will likely not be eliminated. As you are not aligned with other vampires, even in the event that vampire kind as a whole were to come into dispute with Organization Q, it is likely that I would be commanded to keep you around as a specimen for experimentation and possible reinvigoration of the species once they are scrupulously wiped out by the superior technological armament that they would be facing."
"I don't think I recognize you two."
"That is correct. You would not recognize me. Though it is merely an alias for legal purposes, you may refer to me as Mamimi Lordgenome. My pronouns are They/It." The android says. Being referred to as a She in the liner notes because the reason she doesn't have feminine pronouns is that Organization Q forced her not to, as it would define her identity in a way they thought they might be unable to control. "Do you have any desired name of address I should be aware of...?"

"Now that sounds like an idea," Sharon mused with a grin, looking back to the dessert devil. "We could be rich! We could make a fortune and out-compete the inferior cafeteria desserts. That is, if you want to reach a broader clientele. "
"Huh? Well. I guess taking peoples money for something that'd probably shorten their lifespans is pretty villainous. I bet we could get extra credit for it!" She says. "I like the idea! You can keep any money you make, as long as you keep helping me sell them when the time comes."

Already in her room, pacing around the common area of the dorm in the form of a rat terrier, Stephanie kept what few belonging she had left in an undisclosed location that was not her new dorm. Certain she'd be de-roomed, she didn't want to risk being told to vamoose without a chance to bring her stuff with her. She was certain to reduce the chances of too many disasters compiling on each other, even planning to seem more callous by startling her new roommate as a talking dog, but not too callous- After all, she wouldn't even dream of being a snake or spider right now.

The door was kicked open, and Stephanie startledly turned around.

"Hello. You're Sato Sukuna, right?"

"And you don't want nothin' in return?" Sharon was nearly sold, but was surprised that this girl had only wanted her to keep selling the cannoli, and had expressed that she wanted Sharon to keep the money. There had to be some sort of catch, and she didn't need Thorntalon to tell her that.
Thorntalon continued to eye the dessert devil, wondering if they could sense his nature as he could hers.

Knott Lazarus

"Knott Lazarus. That is you, right?" The hulking yet gaunt creature known as Monti had said.
"Yeah, that's me alright. You can have the room with the window if you want. I've already taken up the one closest to the entrance, although I think I forgot to write my name on the whiteboard. "
Knott addressed Mamimi next.
"Keep your secrets, but I think that I might keep my dandruff if I have to go off of what I now know." Indeed, Knott didn't particularly want the world to have vampires in it, though he didn't plan on killing any. In fact, one of the few things that kept them going was the idea that it might be possible one day to become human again. From moving more slowly in direct sunlight, to the bloody diet, to hearing every little damn thing that bugs had to say; That and the remnants of distorted Catholicism he still clung to, had them hating what they were.
"Just one question, though: How did you know I wasn't aligned with other vampires? Was it the trash bag for luggage, or did something else tip you off?" Knott suspected that Mamimi knew more than Knott had been shown, and even that was more than Knott expected. Their mind went back to memories of last school year, toward the end: Their alignment change, the mental breakdown, and their abandoning the joint evil scheme they and Fenris had going. All of this had gone around the grapevine to some extent, but Knott now figured it would bite them even more in the coming year.

"And you don't want nothin' in return?"
“Hmm, you drive a hard bargain, miss!” The Dessert devil says. “Since I consider this a supernatural contract, it’s up to me to specify that I do get something out of having people eat what I make.”
Devils didn’t always have to specify the terms of a contract. Or if they did, they could hide it in bureaucratic monotony. The fact that the dessert devil was willing to tell Sharon, meant she was pretty confident that she could manipulate this to her own advantage. Thorntalon, as a demon, would probably catch wind of this.

"Just one question, though: How did you know I wasn't aligned with other vampires? Was it the trash bag for luggage, or did something else tip you off?"
“You’re labeled as an expendable under the electronic student guide. And if you were aligned with other vampires, wouldn’t you have a masquerade of other vampires that you could hide with for protection? Or at least a few thralls you could use for slave labor?” Mamimi inquired rhetorically. (NOTE: A Masquerade of Vampires is a term similar to a murder of crows. But for vampires.) “I admit it wasn’t a foolproof plan to make an assumption like that, but given the circumstances, it was clear to me that you had likely become counter to the general goals of the vampires here, or were some other form of outcast.”

Mamimi was… certainly an odd one, but then, this was a school for odd ones. He was an odd one, afterall. He was wary of mysterious organizations or corporations of the Biological nature, but then, who wasn't? His father ran one and he wasn't fond of them either.

And then, Knott just may have claimed the same room before he did.

He chuffed. He hadn't noticed the scent when he'd been in the room, but then he'd been busy and if it was the same room, it seemed Knott had only been there momentarily. He tilted his head. "That wouldn't happen to be the room on the left side, would it?"

Normally, in any other environment, Monti wouldn't care. They could work it out or he could just take the room on the other side. But this school had a strict hierarchy and it was not kind to those who were. Being unranked for so long put him somewhere ambiguous, meaning he had to do what he could to secure his vague position, but he was certainly above expendable. Having teeth as big and sharp as he did also tended to earn him more points.

Being just generally scary with an immovable expression and somewhat monotone voice did a lot for him. He didn't have to actually do anything very scary, only give vague implications and let others make their own assumptions.

He didn't necessarily see Expendables as particularly inferior, he just knew he had seniority and appearances to keep up. He wouldn't kick Knott out outright, though he'd keep the threat implied. Unless Knott actually was too much trouble to keep around. One could be expendable for any number of reasons.

The vampires of the school did tend to be cliquey, further complicating the social structure. Were Knott part of such an allegiance, Monti might think twice about underestimating how much trouble the vampire could cause him in retaliation, but if Mamimi was correct about Knott being
solitary…

Either way, this was a tiny dispute. Possibly not even a dispute at all.

Sato Sukuna

"To fish in that river one needed a steady hand and an even steadier body. I had both. My haul was grand, and I was ready to enjoy my feast alone..."

Sato had barely even looked around the room. He threw his two bags into a corner and seemed to just stand still for a few minutes. At first he didn't react to anything around him, and had no clue about the small dog that observed him. His fists seemed to twitch in an effort to get the boy moving again. Sato was lost in thought, something had caught his attention within the dark reserves of his mind.
"You're being watched"
A conscious voice that represented his barest instincts explained.

"Hello. You're Sato Sukuna, right?"

Sato turned his head slowly, expecting to see a face. His scowl seemed to grow as he had to slowly tilt his head downward to find a dog in front of him. His eyes squinted at it, as if he was truly seeing one before him. A pet? No. The voice came from that dog, that was to be sure. His hand twitched again, though this time it didn't seem like it was trying to kick-start his brain..This time it seemed like an annoyed twitch.
"A dog." Sato started off
"Mind you I'll stomp on you if you get in my way. I don't care if your owner mourns for you and curses me." Sato threatened.
"Let me be clear, if your owner intends to bother me I would much rather sleep outside than in a room with them. If they are strong, then they can fight me. But if they are weak...Then they are nothing more than trash in my way."

Choron is sprinting down the pavement towards the school. He dashes through groups of people, dropping a few to the ground, and barrels straight through the main doors and into the entrance hall. Choron rolls in front of the front desk then stands up straight. He extends his hand, "Choron! Dorm room please!" He spoke quickly trying to get to his dorm as soon as possible. The person at the front desk gives Choron his dorm key and tells Choron what dorm he's living in, but before the person could tell Choron who his dormmates are he immediately sprints off to his dorm. As soon as Choron reached the dorm he quickly uses the key and enters the dorm. He goes straight into the bathroom and does his business(he's been holding in his need to go for couple hours due to choosing to walk to his new school).

Carriages? Pssh. A private jet? Nuh uh. A flying battleship? Close enough.

1691447299501.png

The Private chartered flight from all the way in Triangulum had taken two weeks, even at speeds faster than light. And the payoff was massive, space battleship, converted just for this one occasion to be a ceremonial cruise-ship essentially (which in total size was likely around that of the entire school-grounds itself) flashed into the skies over the school blotting out the sun.

From the port in the middle, a ship resembling much closer to that of a large purple "flying disc" type craft emerged, floating down and landing on the green. And then opening up.

A light-blue-skinned, pink-haired titan of a girl (at least 8'00'' if not more) wearing a hell of an ornate suit of armor, stepped out. On her face was a large, glowing eye, like some sort of cosmic cyclops. A large black cube, likely a suitcase of some advanced alien variety, worn across her back like a backpack.

"Okay, I'll see you guys again a little bit before this planet completes it's orbit... No it's not a year." She extended a bow to whoever was in the circular pod, who was speaking to her from the inside in an indecipherable language. "Yeah, I know, they have a really weird system relating to their planet's revolution. Probably because they don't have space-travel yet. Anyway, it won't be long. But, uh, if I do find someone I like, they might be coming home with me. So just have that in mind, okay?" She responds to a now audibly confused voice.

"Oh sorry, damn translator. I mean they will be coming home with me, whether they like it or not." She says. "Crash and burn!" She waves, as the pod closes, zipping back up into the massive battleship, which emits a bright aura of light before shooting off into the sky, likely to take the 20 Week Trip Back Home.

The alien girl turned back to the school, and began her walk up to the dormitory building.

Junko, Yuri, and Violet Tanukana

The sister trio stepped out of their escort vehicle. Junko, the youngest, seemed disinterested as always, her headphones on and her eyes fixed on her portable gaming console. Yuri was similar, except she had earbuds instead of headphones and was engrossed in her phone. Violet, on the other hand, was more old-fashioned. She didn't care much for phones or new technology. However, she couldn't afford to be distracted because watching over her sisters felt like a full-time job. Despite this, she loved them and wouldn't trade them for anything. This sisterhood was a valuable advantage in a school filled with deceitful and two-faced students. In a place where loyalty was scarce, witches held it in high regard. Sisterhood was especially important to them. If a witch ever betrayed one of her own, it was considered a significant event, even if it happened outside of her coven. Witches were not plentiful, especially those who practiced traditional spells, which Violet's sisters showed little interest in.

"Yo, earth to sis," Yuri's voice interrupted Violet's thoughts as she retrieved their belongings. “It's straight out of a t.v. show.” Yuri barely had time to react to her duffle bag being thrown at her.

"Well, it's like a boarding school," Violet explained, handing Junko another bag before closing the trunk and retrieving her own. The driver left after receiving some cash, leaving the girls in unfamiliar territory on their own. "So I guess it's similar to those teen films that are set in places like this." The three of them made their way towards the massive front doors of the Tudor Lestrange institution. Along the way, they noticed several people scattered about on the grass. Perhaps the lawn was a popular spot for napping? Violet had to practically push her sisters from behind because they kept stopping to observe the growing crowd of people.

They entered the main hall area and walked up to a front desk. They gave the girls a brief look over before clicking away on a computer at the corner of the desk.

“Names?”

“Junko, Yuri, and Violet Tanukana.” Violet answered and the clerk went about finding them on the computer and then going towards the back wall to retrieve some keys within a lockbox. They also retrieved some papers that were printed out and handed each of the three girls their own.

“Your dorm information and orientation information is on the papers. That should be enough to get you started.” With that, the clerk resumed whatever they were doing at the computer and the girls took to the stairs that led deeper into one of the wings of the institution. The interior of the castle matched its impressive exterior, and Violet couldn't help but hope for a grand library hidden within its walls. As they approached the entrance to the common rooms, they almost collided with Junko, who had abruptly come to a halt, completely absorbed in the paper they had been given. Violet realized that she needed to stop following Junko's lead, even though she always ended up doing so. Despite being the shortest one, Junko had surprisingly quick legs.

"What's wrong, Jun’?" Violet asked, and Junko shook her head, clearly confused.

"We're not assigned to the same room," Junko stated, turning to show the others. To their surprise, they had been given two different room numbers. Violet nodded in understanding.

"I guess we weren't early enough to secure our preferred rooms. Maybe they ran out of space? But at least you'll be with Yuri." A noticeable disappointment appeared on Junko's face as she glanced towards their middle sister.

"Well, it’s not like I wanted to only room with you either," Yuri called out, making an effort not to sound offended.

"Just don't pull any of your stupid pranks," warned Junko.

"Or what? You gonna tell on me?" Yuri retorted in a condescending tone. However, their exchange was abruptly interrupted by the sharp snap of Violet's fingers. Whenever she snapped her fingers, the sound always seemed to dominate the surrounding noise.

"We might be separated, but it's likely that we'll have some classes together since we're all new here," Violet pointed out. "So I expect both of you to watch out for each other. We need to stick together in a place like this - we're the only ones we can trust. Now go to your dorms. I have a feeling we'll encounter each other again today." Reluctantly, the two younger sisters nodded and began to head towards their room.

As they entered their room, it resembled an apartment with multiple shared facilities. Yuri turned to Junko with a pleading expression on her face.

"Would it be too much to ask for my own room?" Junko shook her head, stating,

"I'm keeping an eye on you; Violet specifically instructed me to do so." Yuri didn't object, as it sounded like something her older sister would say. It allowed Junko to feel more in control. Moreover, since there were only two of them now, they would need time to adjust as they were used to sharing sleeping rooms with three people. As the eldest sister in the apartment, Yuri realized that they couldn't immediately turn to Violet if any issues arose, expecting her to solve all the problems as she normally did. Although there were three rooms, only two would be used for sleeping, unless they found a fourth roommate, which seemed excessive.

Yuri grabbed the marker and inscribed both her and her sister's names on the white board hanging on the door.

-------

It would be untrue to say that Violet didn't feel a tinge of emotion at being separated from her sisters. The bond between them had been strong since their birth. Even though they were still on the same property, and even in the same building, Violet couldn't shake the feeling that they were worlds apart. As she opened her dorm room door, relief washed over her when she found it empty. Both rooms appeared identical, so she chose one and wrote her name on the board. Setting down her belongings, she marveled at the quietness. She needed time alone to process and fully comprehend this new living arrangement.

"Ah, interesting, good for you." Beckett shifted the shoulder strap of his backpack. Before the incident, Beckett wouldn't have had an issue interacting with the girl. This was one of the first interactions he would have outside of his family. Beckett didn't think the girl was prying, it was his own overreaction. "Do you think you might be able to point me in the right direction? I've never been here before." Beckett asked using a soothing voice, adjusting the shoulder strap again.

Matthew tilted his head slightly to look at where a voice had come from. A redheaded girl was standing beside him, she has obviously been speaking with some type of difficulty. "I'd very much like some help." Matthew grumbled, his voice unusually horse. Feeling strength finally flow to his legs, Matthew pushed up to stand straighter. He gave a soft smile to the girl, who he was now slightly taller than. "You look worse than me." Matthew chuckled. "But if you could tell me where I am, that would be really helpful."
