Ghosts are entities that, while seem like normal people in the waking world,
travel through human's dreams at night to offer advice
and council people to make sure they do not make the same mistakes
while living.
Humans cannot become Ghosts when they die if they had
any major disabilities or injuries, because if they did, they'd suffer
that pain for eternity.
Humans can only become ghosts if they died due to murder, accident, or anything
other than naturally.
They can walk in the world of the living, but they have to hide the
few features that make them stand out.
Their ears are elongated like an elf, they have fangs like a vampire,
and their eyes have pupils like a cat.
The extremeness of these features varies from ghost to ghost.
Ghosts, however, are not the only supernatural beings that watch
over the living.
There are Guardian Angels, Fallen Angels, Demons, Nightmares, and Erasers.
Maybe more to emerge soon.
Guardian angels are different in this world than in others. In this world, everyone has one their entire lives. Each one represents an animal that matches their personality.
The fitness or beauty represents the good or bad will of the person they watch over, as a Guardian angel's job is to shape that person's personality.
Bird - angels are the most popular, and the most stuck up. They only ever watch over the highest of society or those destined to enter high society.
Mammal - angels (like Joel) watch over the middle class of society. Most of them are also stuck up.
Low class angels represent amphibians, reptiles, and bugs. They watch over low class society and are usually bitter.
Guardian angels can also be recruited by ghosts, normally the ones that they watched over when the ghost was still human. They then serve as a sort of butler.
Guardian angels are able to shrink themselves down. There will probably be different triggers for each, but for most, it will be panic, injury, or anger.
Fallen Angels are Guardian Angels that have been banished to earth
by Ghosts who do not want them anymore,
or punishment by Ghosts who feel they deserve it.
They lose their animal-like characteristics and their pupils become
blank.
They become nearly completely human.
They can either be accepted back as a guardian angel by the Ghost that banished them,
or like a human, die, as a fallen angel, becoming a demon.
Demons are, as mentioned before, fallen angels that die.
Their personality is always sadistic/extreme in some way.
(Mostly based on the seven deadly sins)
Their main purpose is to manipulate humans and fallen angels
into making terrible decisions and ruining lives.
They can also be hired by Ghosts, but it's much more difficult
and not a very smart decision.
Demons can also posses people, automatically dooming the
human them self to become a nightmare.
Demons can only fully posses a human if their willpower is
stronger than a human's
If they try to posses a human that has stronger willpower,
both they and them human become permanently paralyzed for
the rest of the human's life.
Finally, if a Demon successfully possesses a human, the
human dies as soon as the demon exits the body.
Nightmares are Ghosts that have committed crimes before death,
even if they weren't caught in their lifetime.
As explained before, humans possessed by Demons also
become nightmares.
Nightmares are entities that show up in people's dreams to create, what else,
nightmares.
In the world of the dead, there is a titanic prison that holds
all of the nightmares during the day, due
to the fact that they could bring harm to the rest of the world
of the dead.
Some nightmares can become Ghosts if deemed sane enough to leave,
which can take from a few days to thousands of years.
Some nightmares enjoy bringing fear to humans.
Finally, the Erasers. The rulers of the World of the Dead.
Erasers are humans that died as stillborns. They are the most trusted because they have only really known the supernatural. They are normally extemely loyal.
An eraser's job is to keep a close eye on ghosts and their work, and to erase the memory of any human that gains too much knowledge of their buissness. They also assign guardian angels to ghosts.
There are two main rulers.
Solar:
The ruler of the World of the Living, appears to look like more of a traditional goddess.
Acts stuck up and perceives humans to be useless ants.
Lunar:
The ruler of the World of the Dead, looks more like a businessman.
Very joking, but still is very strict about rules.
