rules and expectations New
Greetings! Welcome to the wonderful world of Clementine’s insane worldbuilding, overanalyzing, and YAPPING. I’m a yapper, you have been warned.

For this, I want to attempt to do a hybrid between the mostly improvisational, completely winging it approach that I’m used to and a more structured approach like D&D (or maybe the other roleplays on this website. Idk I just got here). Think of this post as Session 0, laying out my hopes, dreams, boundaries, and expectations for what this is and gathering all those things from whoever joins to make sure we all have the best possible time.

I’m looking for one or two, (maybe three if I get some help) semi-experienced other players to make a couple of characters for a long-term roleplay involving magic, found family vibes, mystery, and petty school drama. I know with typical things like D&D each player only gets One character, and if you don’t feel comfortable making multiple that’s completely fair, but I wanted to switch things up to make the school feel more lively and provide lots of different overlapping storylines. 2-6 characters, let’s get a diverse cast up in here.

I was going to put this in the character section but I decided it fit better here. Let’s talk to each other and create some intertwined stuff. The characters don’t have to be besties, but I would like to politely request that at least one of your characters has a pre-established relationship to someone else’s. It doesn’t have to be huge, but it’ll keep things interesting. Childhood friends, older/younger sibling figure, significant others, exes, enemies, anything. Just something to keep things rolling.

I think that at the beginning it’ll be like I’m the DM, I created the world, some of the important plot points, I’ll be describing the school and I’ll be taking over a lot of background characters for y’all to interact with. But once the plot gets rolling, I hope to take my hands off the wheel to jump in and let the story run itself and let you guys take some NPCs and create our own inner-character conflicts. I’ll only have control at the start to light the sparks for the rest of the story and jump in if we’re stuck.

I would also love your input! If you have ideas for plot, character, or world building things PLEASE tell me!!! Or any questions, comments, or concerns. Communication and collaboration is key.

Now, onto other things.

Rules
  • Treat others with respect: This should really go without saying, but just in case. Remember that your fellow roleplayers are people and deserve kindness and respect. Hate Speech or Harassment will not me tolerated
  • Communicate with others: This roleplay recognizes that people can get busy and that real life takes priority over the story. It's fine if you need some extra time to come up with a reply, need to take a break from things, or even quit the roleplay altogether. All that I ask is that, if possible, to please communicate this clearly with other members
  • No posting schedule requirements: No schedules, we die like men. We’ll respect a cycle between posters. If a long period of time goes by without a reply, then we’ll skip them and move on (we can decide on how long ‘an extended period of time’ is together.) I’m fine with a pretty slow burn on this. If you’re gone for a while, you are free to jump back in when you return! Once again, communication is key, and if you need/want your character to be involved with something while the roleplay is going on just hit me up and we can figure something out!
  • Be mindful of your characters. I really shouldn’t have to say this, but after DMing for middle schoolers I must. The lore I made is a guideline, but I’m flexible and if you want to flavor species or magic or create some of your own I would love to hear you out! As long as it’s not wildly overpowered. Your character can be powerful, a prodigy even, but just PLEASE be mindful that they’re not op. I’m not a fan of overpowered, flawless “Mary Sue” type characters, BUT I’m also not a fan of uninteresting, irredeemable “murder hobo” type characters who are evil just for the sake of it. Your character can be a total jerk, they just have to be a plot relevant jerk, y’know?
  • Interaction is key. Once again. DMing for middle schoolers has traumatized me. Let’s remember the rules of improv! Even though I hope to plot and plan some things out with you, a lot of what will happen will be total improv, so let’s remember how to do it best. ‘Yes, and.’ This also extends to ‘No, but.’ Keep the plot moving, derailing the story gets us nowhere. Give us something to work with, and respond realistically!
  • Have fun! I hope I don’t sound like a total control freak, the main goal of this is to tell a story we can all have fun with. I’m so excited to meet y’all and hear about your ideas! <3

Hey there, welcome to the site- hope you find what you're looking for here.

Just saw the main thread for this RP, and it looks like you might have put up what you intended to be your recruitment thread in the RP forum? Recruitment threads go up in the 'Recruitment' section (in this case, the 'Group Interest Checks' forum specifically). Then once you have players and you're ready to get the RP off the ground, the In-Character thread goes up in the 'Roleplays' section (in this case, the 'Group' forum specifically).

Anyway, hope that helps- good luck with the RP!

Hi Emily!! I'm Clementine, I'm 18 and use she/they. Welcome aboard! I'm currently working on writing the lore, but as soon as it's done I can post that AND the character sheet. I've reached out to someone who seemed like they might be interested, so fingers crossed they respond too. Until then, if you have any questions comments or concerns I can do my best to address them here!

Aw, Nice to meet you Clementine. Your name sounds so coooool. I was hoping my character had a significant other and like a male best friend cause why not. Like her male best friend would be her future lover and shit.. The idea sounds so cool in my mind. Im also open to doubling.
