Long May

Mai'vryn's parents died when she was only eight years old. They were traveling to Atos to meet with King Teasen'athem when they were ambushed by Aridian bandits just outside of The Gate. Mai'vryn learned from her parents to always put the kingdom before yourself so she kept the mourning brief and focused her energy into ruling the kingdom.

As soon as she took the throne, there was opposition to her reign. Regardless of their own status, people took it upon themselves to speak out against her taking the crown. It seemed as a rebellion would arise and the kingdom would turn to turmoil. Her advisers begged her to give up her throne to a distant relative to prevent this but, she refused.

The only other alternative was to give the kingdom to their ally: Mïrarl. Her advisers were insistent that relinquishing the throne in one of the two ways was the best course of action. Again, Mai'vryn refused. She spoke of unity in difficult times and the importance of maintaining balance as she had heard her parents speak of before. Although she maintained a calm demeanor to the public, she desperately prayed to Tirasea to settle her people and return the kingdom to its natural balance in the privacy of her room.

Despite persistent opposition, Mai'vryn proved time and time again that she was far more capable than she was give credit for. She met all threats to the kingdom with poise and reserve. She didn't shy from facing a challenge on her own when no one else could. Now, she is widely respected and arguably one of the best, if not the best, ruler of Raeyllis.

She Reign

Mai'vryn was always a generous and compassionate child. It was a trait that her parents eagerly fostered. When her parents died, she channeled her grief into becoming a ruler that she know her parents would be proud of. She always turned the other cheek. Even when the Raeyllish people seemed to turn against her, she never used her power for violence or retaliation. In her heart, she knew they anger was only misplaced grief.

These are characteristics she still emphasizes in her daily life, especially expressing her appreciation for those that shown support despite difficult times. Although she emphasizes patience and kindness, she does have a fierce and righteous side as well. She is far less likely to overlook disrespect as she has matured and reached adulthood by Raeyllish terms. She especially dislikes when outsiders and commoners talk down to her.

Because of her lineage, she constantly aims to improve her ability as a fighter. She is knowledgeable in hand-to-hand combat, improvised weaponry, swordsmanship, and archery. When she was coronated, she took a vow to defend her kingdom to her dying breath and she intends to do so well if should the situation arise.

She is also a moderately pious queen, taking part in daily group prayer to Tirasea and journeying to the Tirasea Tree at least once yearly. She believes strongly in the natural balance and that nothing should be wasted if it can be helped. She relies heavily on her faith in times of distress, but is open-minded to the idea that other religions can lead others to harmony.

Despite her maturity, she still has childish desires, such as adventure and romance. She occasionally considers running from the kingdom for a day and disappearing. Few in the general population have seen her and it would consequently be a viable option to pose as a commoner in any given town. But, she knows the importance of maintaining a queenly image so she often hides her desires.

THE HOUSE OF ARABILYLTH
nLyq25X.png
King Andras

GtKVX__IRPU.jpg

Name: King Andras Arabilylth

Title/Occupation: His Majesty, Andras Arabilylth, by the Grace of Eoddun, King of Ellon, Defender of the Faith, Protector of the Realm, and High Lord of the House of Arabilylth.

Age: 54

Birth City: Undah

Current City of Residence: Undah

Race: Human

Gender: Male

Goal/Motivation: To ensure his Kingdom's continued prosperity, and to guarantee that the House of Arabilylth is respected both at home and internationally.

Languages:
- Ellonian (native; speaks, reads and writes fluently)
- High Raeyllish (semi-fluent in speaking and reading; basic writing)
- Londean dialect (proficient in speaking and reading; basic writing)
- Southern Aridian (basic reading; some speaking; very little writing)

Family:
-- Queen Myriem Arabilylth (née Meirthin) || Wife || 49 || Alive
- Crown Princess Syrie Arabilylth (current Tanist [Heir]) || Daughter || 26 || Alive
- Prince Sairas Arabilylth || Son || 23 || Alive
- Prince Wyliem Arabilylth || Son || 17 || Alive
- Prince Leiwys Arabilylth || Son || 12 || Alive
-- Prince Olywyr Arabilylth, Highprince of Vallonde || Younger Brother || Age 48 || Alive

Background: As the first child of then-King Morys Arabilylth, Andras's birth was a much celebrated affair. At last, Eoddun had saw fit to answer his parents' prayers and provide the son that would secure their House's legacy. With the weight of inheritance pressed on his shoulders from the moment of his conception, the boy was to begin his studies early, and he readily learned matters of statecraft, economics, rhetoric, languages, philosophy, mathematics, courtly decorum, and other topics deemed necessary for rule. This training regime pushed Andras beyond his comfort zone. His instructors would chastise his shortcomings, reminding him that his young brother Olywyr could supplant him as tanist should he be found lacking. Andras had time in the day to enjoy himself, though whatever free time he had was usually spent at the practice fields. It was there that he learned where his true worth would lie.

Andras had more of a talent for the swinging of swords than he did for rulership. He began to commit more to the martial side of his education, much to his father's chagrin. He groomed himself for command, and as he grew taller and stronger, his skills grew with him as he consistently turned talent into ability. At 19, Andras was wed to Myriem Meirthin, daughter of Duke Meirthin of Farlonde. But despite their best efforts, the two were unable to successfully produce a child for some years. Nonetheless, the two had high respect for one another throughout their marriage.

After nine years, their prayers were finally answered in the birth of Syrie in Andras's twenty-eighth year, and after that, three sons would follow. Fatherhood brought a great deal of both joy and anxiety, yet he saw in them Eoddun's favor. With his ailing father's death by consumption, Andras was called upon to take his place and receive the power and responsibility that had always awaited him. Yet in the two decades since his ascension, the King became absorbed by his duties, gradually spending even less time than usual with his family with the exception of their morning and evening rituals. He would focus his time on maintaining relations with his courtiers to the best of his ability while also addressing the issue of foreign powers pressing against his borders. Nonetheless, the twenty-two years since his crowning have proven prosperous, alliances forging, and laws molding and changing with attempts to improve the lives of those he promised his life to serve, which has made him popular among the people, though this sentiment is not universal. As he moves forward, a married man, a father, and a more confident monarch, perhaps some might not find this old man as weak and infirm as they believe.

Personality: As King, Andras has made himself known for his stoicism and his keen intelligence, but also for his cold and unfettered attitude. He is a man defined by duty, and is rightfully considered to be an honorable ruler by all. He has a sense of fairness and justice that is often taken for weakness by the less scrupulous, but he makes it exceedingly clear that he is not one to be taken advantage of. He considers himself a soldier and a general first, and believes he should always maintain a professional distance from those who serve under him so that they all see him as their King, not their friend.

Family is paramount in Andras's worldview, but he seldom expresses his love through overt softness or open displays of affection. Instead, his commitment to his family is demonstrated through tireless work to be a just and competent ruler. He values honor and loyalty highest of all, and expects it from his family, his ministers, his soldiers, and himself. He respects the importance of tradition, and his devotion to the old codes of honor means he is not readily open to new or progressive ways of doing things if the status quo has been effective. He does not condone dishonorable things and has a disgust for torture and those who partake in doing such a thing.

Princess Syrie

XrQctBE.jpg

Name: Princess Syrie Arabilylth.

Title/Occupation: Her Royal Highness, Syrie Arabilylth, Tanist of the House of Arabilylth

Age: 26

Birth City: Undah

Current City of Residence: Vallonde

Race: Human

Gender: Female

Goal/Motivation: (To slay a dragon, to buy a house, to find love, etc.)

Background: (2+ paragraphs, why did they get where they are and have the goal(s) they do)

Personality: Syrie is reserved and statuesque, yet exudes confidence in nearly everything she does. At times, she projects a stoicism that would lead some to think her as a replica of her father. She is widely known (whether renowned, feared or reviled) as a powerful sorceress with all the poise and dignity befitting a future monarch. Rarely dissuaded once she sets her mind to something, she can come off as pushy in situations where she feels she has superior knowledge or experience. She is above all else a scholar, erudite, discerning, and determined. She has never lost the natural curiosity that drew her to learning, and strives to encourage others to share in her passion as well. Indeed, her devotion to the intellectual arts borders on obsessive, as she immerses herself deeply on one thought or idea to the exclusion of all else -- including people -- for days at a time. She's been known to go for days without sleeping while working on something that has caught her interest, and sometimes has to be forced to eat or rest.
