"Hey!"

Mia shouted out as she walked towards the alleyway, closing her eyes as she made the first corner. As soon as she opened them, they began glow a dull silver color. She glanced down at both of her hands, closing her right fist and looking back up. Her pace slowed as she made the turn towards the alleyway where the noise was.

As she made the second corner turn, she got the attention of two men, one tall and one stockier, wearing bright red bandanas over their faces. There was a young woman on the ground, face-down. The blood that lay in a puddle around her face seemed to move backwards, towards her face.

"That's the source of the voice!" shouted one of the men, raising a finger and pointing to Mia's eyes, which were bright silver.
"She has powers! I don't know what her ability might be, I think I can take the chance to DRUG HER!" The man immediately drew a small gun.

Mia brought her hands up and jumped to the side in the nick of time as a small dart flew past her, grazing the back of her hand but not making a puncture wound. She didn't have time to worry about a scrape, she had to go and attack these guys!

"It grazed but didn't cut! Some sort of durability!" The taller man drew a knife and started walking forwards towards Mia.

"You better put that away. That's not gonna do you any good against someone like me." Mia kept her hands raised in a rudimentary guard. Suddenly, the taller man jumped forwards and took a slash at Mia.
Mia dodged left and aimed a kick to his leg. The kick connected, but it wasn't nearly enough to make him move in the slightest. He was, after all, about two heads taller than Mia.
"No strength! Haha!" With one swift movement of his hand, the man swung knife, and the blade went straight past Mia's inner arm, slashing it open. Blood spurted from the cut.

Mia fell to her knees and let out a shrill scream, unable to comprehend how much blood was pouring out of her arm, staining her clothes and dripping onto the ground.
"Okay! Okay! I give up! My power's really weak! There's no need to k-kill me! You killed that woman...just...don't kill...me..." Mia raised her hands, her voice dying down. Tears formed in her eyes as she tilted her head down.

She couldn't die now. Not after discovering something amazing. She had a life to live, powers to gain, and adventures to go on. She was a superhero, and she couldn't die at the hands of some thugs with red bandanas.

The man looked down at her, raising the knife once again. "You're really pathetic, to be one of the fifty in the entire world. You're as good as dead. The wound on your arm was deep enough to cut an artery open. It'll be a miracle if you can even get that fix-GGHKK!"

The man stumbled forwards, nearly tripping on Mia. He coughed and doubled over, hitting his head on the wall. Mia got a good view of the short man behind him, and saw that his body was lifeless too. Mia blinked, and her vision went blurry for a few seconds.

She focused up at what was before her. The woman that was previously laying on the ground with blood all around her was standing before Mia. Mia couldn't make out her face through a combination of all the blood that was covering it and her blurring vision.

Blood...loss?

"Hey, are you alright?" The woman extended a hand out. Mia reached out to grab it, but her grip slipped, and her vision went black.

Thud.

"Mhn..."

Tick.

"Are you..."

Tock.

"Hey, you're awake! Calm down, I'm still working on you." The woman that was in the alley previously was sitting next to Mia, holding the latter's damaged arm. The woman's eyes were glowing a blue color, the same one of her eyes, and the injury on Mia's arm was closing up rapidly, passing several stages of healing before it went away. It was like watching a time-lapse of an injury.

"Ow!"
"Done! You're alright." The woman let out a soft sigh and stood up, rapidly shaking her hand off as though she just wrote on paper for a few hours. The first thing Mia noticed was how high-class her appearance was. Flawless, smooth skin, light hair styled into a single curl that rested on her shoulder, and most importantly, diamonds in her ears.

The woman turned around to face Mia. "Hey, did you get shot? You seem really distracted."

"Huh? What? Oh, no, I wasn't shot."
"Good. Neither was I. They might've saved their darts."

Mia was utterly confused as to what was going on. Darts? This person was a superhero? "Hey, hey, wait, back up just a sec. I just...I didn't want to get involved, but I heard those men in the alley shuffling around. You would've been dead if I didn't show up. You looked dead when I showed up-MMF!"

The woman clamped her hand over Mia's mouth. "Shush. I have an ability, alright? I can heal others and myself. But it's not good for combat. I used the stocky man's knife once I healed up. Don't get so excited."

"Healing? That means..." Mia closed her eyes and opened them, activating some power. "What's the color of the glow?"
"Silver. That's odd, usually they match with eye color, or are at least close. Why, is something the matter?"

Mia reached out, grabbing the woman's hand. Nothing happened.

"You're...seriously acting strange. Are you sure you weren't shot?"

"Hold on...why didn't anything happen?!"

"Okay, take a step back, and explain. Why did you ask, shouldn't you know the color of your power? There's something weird going on. Are you sure you're registered, and are you absolutely sure you weren't shot?"

What should Mia tell this woman?

1. "Well, I lied earlier. The dart grazed my hand. Sorry. I'll explain later, I gotta go, thanks for the healing!" Leave immediately and seek an actual hospital to see the effects of the dart.
2. "I...kind of have this thing...where I can copy the powers of whoever I touch. I'm just trying to see if it's actually a copy ability or if it's a coincidence with the other guy!"

3. "No, I wasn't shot, and I just wanted make sure my powers still worked after being knocked out like that. Thanks for keeping me alive."
4. Write-in.

[A/N: For those of you who don't know what a write-in is in a quest RP, it's where you write your response. You can write whatever you want within reason. If multiple people agree on the same write-in, then that'll be the one going in.]

"I'm not quite sure myself. All of this hero stuff is new to me. You mentioned something about registering, is there a monitoring body for supers?"

Hmmm... the woman seems relatively benevolent, and we need a mentor. The option about the monitoring body for supers is something I think Mia can probably just "google" or whatever the equivalent may be on their world- and if she can't, then the woman is not likely to be as informed either.

So overall, I'm gonna go with 2 . If we tell her, there's a chance she may help us understand our ability better or be more apt in using it unlike just getting pummelled by thugs everytime. Plus, there is a chance the woman might tell us about her own ability in more detail if we bring the conversation there, which might be beneficial in understanding just what we're capable of.

2. This woman seems trustworthy enough. If she can heal herself and others, then I would say that she wouldn’t think Mia is a lunatic if she has powers too.

Registration
Registration

Mia shook her head. "I'm not quite sure myself. All of this hero stuff is new to me. You mentioned something about registering, is there a monitoring body for supers?"

The woman pondered on Mia's question for a second. "So you actually have no idea how your powers work, and you don't know about the registration thing at all. How do I even begin to explain this? Why don't we take a walk, it's not a good idea to stay in this alley." The woman stood up as she grabbed Mia by the arm and helping her up. "Let's exchange names first. I'm Elora."
"Mia."

Mia and Elora began their walk down the street, exiting the alleyway in the opposite direction and onto the streets. With Mia's wounds gone, and Elora's injuries healed, the two of them looked relatively normal. "So...about the monitoring body. What exactly are they?"

"Well, they're known as EXNet. They have a profile of every single superpowered being in the world. Thankfully they're all heroes or care about the benefit of humanity." Elora gave a relieved smile. The two of them were following each other, so their route was a little messed up. When they came to a crosswalk, Mia hit the button.

"EXNet? I was on their website earlier, looking at someone's powers." Mia took out her phone and went back to Coldskin's page as they crossed the street. Elora took one look at it, and scoffed. "Oh, you were looking at that guy's stuff. I can't complain about him since I'm not a hero."

Mia glanced at her phone before putting it back in her pocket. "Well, but you're still registered. It's cause you don't want to get in trouble, right?" She walked with the woman for a few more blocks, somehow not able to elicit a response from Elora. It seemed as if Elora was deep in thought. Once they approached an apartment building, Elora stopped.

"My home's on the top floor. I'm not sure whether bringing you here was a good idea. If you can really copy powers, then I'm not so sure that your ability is going to go unnoticed after you get registered. I think it's best we exchange phone numbers, and you go get registered." Elora pulled out her own phone and made a new contact. "Full name?"

"Mia Steele." Mia took out her phone and did the same. "And you are?"

"Elora Fallow. My number is..."
Elora continued. The two exchanged their contact information, and Mia began her walk away from the apartments. "Bye Elora!"

Now there was a pressing matter. If what Elora said was really true, that the power to copy abilities wouldn't go unnoticed, then maybe registering would be a bad idea as that might deviate Mia from her life. Then again, maybe registering could get her help from EXNet itself. Either way, she decided she'd be looking up Elora Fallow on the EXNT website.

Should Mia register?

1. Don't go and register. So far, signs point to Mia's ability being extremely unique. Registering could cause a stirring, as the ability deviates from the norm.

2. Go ahead and register the ability. Even if the ability is a deviation from the normal range of powers, Mia might be able to find the true extent of her power with the help of EXNet.

Bonus! Cold as Coldskin
"Collin? Collin! You've been zoning out for the last fifteen minutes! Are you alright?" A young woman, about 17 or 18 years old with long dyed reddish-blonde hair in an up-do and sharp pink eyes, sat across from Collin Wurst in a food court table in the Plexa Mall, waving her hands in front of his face.

"Huh? Oh, yeah, I'm here, Rena." Collin raised his head and took another bite of his burger. Sitting perpendicular to her and Rena was a young male, about the girl's age, with hazel eyes, red hair, and a confident smirk on his face. "What's the deal with your face, hothead?" Collin turned to face the male.

The "hothead" simply laughed. "It sounds like you got your ass handed to you by someone. You can talk to us. Even though you're the only registered superhuman out of the three of us, we're still here to back you up." The male stuck his hand out and a small ball of red electricity formed on it. Seeing the electricity made Collin smile slightly. Rena moved back a little bit from the electricity. "Don't do that in public!"

"Heh. Rena's right. You shouldn't do that in public, Karter. Sure, you might be dining with the hero of Keptro, Coldskin, but that doesn't grant you a free pass." Collin chuckled, crumpling up the burger paper and tossing it into the trash in the center of the table. He leaned back on his chair and looked around the bright, colorful atmosphere of the mall.

"Alright, 'Coldskin', how 'bout you tell us why you look glum as hell? It's kinda depressing, man." Karter raised an eyebrow and leaned forwards, genuinely interested in Coldskin's story. Rena sighed and pulled out her phone and began tapping away at the screen.

"Well, if you insist. There's this girl that did something to me. She grabbed my hand and copied my ability." Collin shrugged, but the other two at the table simply froze. Rena dropped her phone onto her lap.

"Copied your ability? That's not possible. M-Maybe you two just happened to have the same kit."
"Then that wouldn't explain her eyes glowing silver when she activated her powers. The worst part was that, when I punched her, even with my ability active, her face didn't even budge."
"Well, what does she look like? We'll teach her a lesson for ya."

Despite the outrageous commitment that Karter just stated, Collin continued ahead with his description of Mia. "Dark brown hair up to here, amber eyes, cute face, and...she's kinda clueless about everything. You can't miss her. Just, avoid touching her and she'll have your abilities."

"I'm...I'm a little bit opposed to this, but if it's what must be done..." Rena touched fingertips with her other hand and looked down at her phone. She really seemed apprehensive about fighting someone like this. However, Karter didn't seem opposed in the slightest.

"Pfft. If she only has yours, it's probably gonna be an easy fight. My bolts exceed 1,000 PSI by well over twenty times."

"Shut up, Karter. You don't even have the balls to register yourself. Either way, you two better do this soon. I'm going home." Collin got up and walked in the opposite direction, without saying goodbye. Karter and Rena looked at each other, then back at Coldskin. They thought the same thing.

He's cold....

There are a few things that don't really add up, so my first idea was to make sure that Elora is who she says she is, and maybe get some info on her. Both of these tasks are accomplished by looking her up on EXend, but it couldn't hurt to dig further, especially since she states she is not a hero. (Forget what I said. I somehow saw a write-in option earlier when the boxes were messed up, but now it is gone, so disregard this unless D duegxybus would consider letting us dig a little into Elora? The information would be useful in determining who is friend or foe and also in the case of combat(both in how to defeat her and how to use her powers accordingly).)
(Also once she makes contact with a super, does she copy that power for good? Or is there a limited time in which she could use it. This can be ignored if you were planning to reveal that later but it does have a big effect on how we should proceed.)

At first, I was leaning towards not registering because it does paint a target on our back and it is still unclear whether or not we can trust EXend(benefit for humanity is pretty subjective, what if they turn on supers for the greater good of the "normals"). However, upon reading of Karter and Rena's plans to attack Mia, I think we really have no choice but to seek help in the form of EXend, considering that Karter's power does not require physical contact and the fact that Rena's powers are yet to be revealed. We can at least count on the fact that there are other heroes working at EXend who can lend a hand, and that they can't be all bad if mischievous supers like Karter and Rena are hesitant to register.

(To answer the first questions, Mia would logically trust Elora because she's registered. Maybe there might be an opportunity to dig up more info in the future, but as of now Mia has little reason because of the more pressing matter of deciding to register or not.

Also, more details about how Mia's ability will be revealed sooner or later. But for now, she can keep an ability for a very long time. She did find herself able to use Coldskin's Shockshield well after 12 hours of copying it.)

Ok, thanks for clearing things up! :)

I'll go with option 1, cause I think we need to accumulate powers before we're ready to march foward with a registration. Otherwise, we'll loose the edge we need.

Registration II / BROKE!
Registration, Part II / Broke!

As soon as Mia left the vicinity of Elora's apartment, she chuckled to herself. "Registration. What a joke. I don't even have a power until I touch a super." Mia pulled out her phone and went back on the Joogle search engine, tapping away at the screen until she finally found the Exnet file about Elora.

Once she clicked on the site, there was a loading screen that wouldn't stop.

Updating...

Updating? Mia waited for the site to finish loading, letting her phone hang by her side. She continued on her way, crossing several intersections until getting to where she needed to be.

The Weres Falgo Bank. As she stood in line, she glanced at the screen. It loaded!

"Huh? Did the website update when I was gone? That quickly?" Mia looked over all the categories that a power was guessed on. Immediately, she recognized why she couldn't use Elora's powers. The complexity was higher than Coldskin's. Maybe there was a special way to activate it. As she was about to give it a shot while waiting in line, the woman at the desk spoke.

"Next!"

Mia walked up to the woman and put her card down. "I would like to withdraw two hundred dollars. I didn't see an ATM, so I assumed that-"

Before Mia could finish, the woman took the card and walked back to the ATM behind the desk. They were all protected. The woman walked back with sixty dollars only.
"You don't have two hundred dollars. You have sixty dollars and nineteen cents in your account. And you locked your savings account so you can't withdraw from that unless you change settings online.

Upon hearing the news, Mia's heart sank, to the point she even slouched a little bit. She placed a fist on the counter and sniffled, trying her best not to have a hysterical fit in front of the bank employee. "I'm...I'm broke..."

So much for having pizza tonight! Or anything! o(╥﹏╥)o

"Thanks." Mia walked out of the bank, her head hung low. As soon as she turned out of the bank, she felt something behind her. When she turned, she saw nothing. Nobody was looking at her. Yet she had the feeling that something was observing her. A van drove past her, similar to the one that she saw earlier. It had the radar dish on it.

Mia took out her phone and took a picture of the license plate before dropping the phone back into her pocket. With that, she made her way all the way back to her apartment.

....

As Mia pushed in the front door, her eyes traveled to the window. She couldn't help but feel another disgusting presence coming from the building across from her apartment. However, she couldn't make out anything even through squinting. She grabbed a sandwich from her fridge, hopped on the bed, and turned on her laptop. Now it was time to go job hunting while enjoying a cold ham sandwich.

As she scrolled through the several jobs, she came across a pressing matter. She desperately needed a lot of money, so she could take a slightly more demanding job that paid extremely well, or get a regular job that didn't pay as much. Mia grinned. I can definitely pull off working in this kind of place. I got the body, and nobody's gonna do anything to me. Though, maybe getting a job at Four World's food place wouldn't hurt either. Either way, I'm just going to be a waitress since I don't have a degree.

Mia finished the sandwich and tossed the wrapper in a dustbin. Now it was time to sign up for a job.

Which job should Mia take?

1. Take the job at the Q-Teas Café & Foodstuffs, where Mia is required to wear a racy uniform. However, nobody is going to be touching her as it is still just a food place. Customers may request pictures with her. Also, job requires flexibility. Pay: $13.62/hr, and people are likely to tip here.

2. Take the job at Four World's. There are 4 types of uniforms, one for each 'world.' The waitress needs to be polite and have extensive knowledge of the menu. However, the uniforms are not revealing at all. Pay: $9.55/hr. People are likely to tip here.

(Decided to chill on the action this time, plz dun kill me!)
