Alchemical Charm Slots

Do you think that a alchemicals should be able to just buy charm slots?  I mean, not with a charm already installed, but a slot for one of the charms in your panopoly that is currently unused?

To me, this would seem to make sense, a dedicated charm slot costing 4xp, a general one costing 6.  You'd still end up paying the same as if you bought a charm and a charm slot, but it would allow you to slot in charms currently in your panopoly if you don't want to spend the extra 6xp to buy another charm which is only going to become unused.

Yes, those charm slots are for slot with charms too.

I do think your proposed house rule makes sense. After all, it's not like they need to make the Alchemical a new charm to get their body ready for further implantation.

Yeah, but what I'm asking is, is it possible just to buy the charm slot, without a charm in it?

Not in the Auto book, but as BurningPalm said, don't see why they wouldn't get the Alchemical's body prepared for future instalments.

I believe the author is on record as saying that they CAN'T just buy empty slots.  I think part of the reason was for the sake of balance because you can get a heck of a lot of slotless charms with the backgrounds.  Those are intended to be switched out as you change purposes, not held there until you buy an extra slot.
