Race: Eriad: The Eriad race is much like your common human, however there are two notable difference. Their pupils are not a circle, but a combination of two slits forming an cross. The horizontal slit only moves when they look up or down, as the vertical goes with left and right. The other difference being, Eriad do not need oxygen to survive, making them quite adept at space exploration.

The Setting

Within another plane of existence, technology rapidly grew. The leaders of humanity, the Dominion is what led them to this growth. They had the power to drive everyone towards the future, even if it meant by force. Their ultimate goal was to advance the human race as quickly as possible due to some unknown reason. All one can be sure of, is they stated that humanity may one day be tested, and for that, they must be prepared. Freedom was a rarity amongst the population, seeing as they desired to keep the people from revolting. The higher class members, were those who gained the favor of the dominion, whether it be by inventing newer methods to increase production, or by giving the Dominion a higher source of power.

Then one day, a great chaos spread about the world. An overpowering energy engulfing the entire planet as it shred nearly all technology. The Dominion once again pushed the people in order to gain control. Finding new ways for technology to work within this field in order to keep productivity. And in truth, they succeeded in re-stabilizing the economy, with a new way of technology. Though all seemed to be repaired, the Dominion announced the colonization of another nearby planet. Before the main population even reached the planet, they came to discover another field was created, eating away at their new born technologies, once again forcing a them to restart from scratch. Those within the higher ranks of the Dominion stated that these fields had appeared before they began colonization, but how was it we can all be certain.

Again, and again, as year passed mankind would come to colonize a new planet, having to reconstruct the technology that they knew. Some in the most peculiar of ways, nearly altering the entire science behind the mechanisms to sometimes even produce the same results, simply to get by. Under the Dominion, man did not question the fields, some even came to look forward to them. As the forces, and influence of the Dominion spread thinner across the planets the people began to know slight freedom. But even then, the freedom was only a minor luxury for those brave enough to defy the Dominion. After all, their military strength was still spread about the planets, enforcing their laws. At least, people were beginning to notice the oppression they were forced to endure.

Worlds and their technologies

This is a small list consisting of some of the more technologies within the fields.

Eve: Technology is run by a series of codes that can very well distort the space on the worlds surface. However, it draws energy from the user in order to accomplish it’s feats. Some even go so far as to call it magic, seeing as the impossible becomes possible. Barriers created out of thin air to prevent passage, gravitational fields to ease workloads or perhaps to allow quick transport/travel. Though one must be able to visualize what they desire, and be capable of manifesting it in an instant. Otherwise, their creation may very well become distorted.

Exodus: Technology that relies on electronic matter existing for a prolonged amount of time away from a source is unavailable. And seeing that the laser weaponry is not suited for the military units stationed on this planet, we often see this planet as a melee only zone. Blades that are charged with vast amounts of condensed energy, these things are known to slice through flesh and metal alike. Though luckily, the charge only lasts up to ten minutes, meaning these things need to be turned off when not in use.

Teris: Also known as the old home world, Teris is known to have some of the biggest forms of technology. The field seems to subdue all of the smaller sources of power, forcing the inhabitants to use rather huge generators in order to get anything done. As such, this planet is known for having the mechs, or rather, giant robots that are manned by a human in order to accomplish some goal. The Dominion holds onto mechs that are designed for battle to directly counter the worker's just in case an uprising did occur.

Sintus: This planet is almost the polar opposite of Exodus. Seeing as energy can only exist in short pulses, otherwise it would overload the generator ruining the device, or perhaps even explode. Rapid small bursts on the other hand, freely work within the field, which surprisingly benefits the worker's tools as well.

The Rebels

This is the small group of people that willingly stand to fight the Dominion, realizing their corrupt ways. They have heard the rumors, and have noticed that some people who are transported by the Dominion vessels between planets are never seen again. Lurking within the shadows of society to avoid the dominant eye of their enemy, the rebels result to guerrilla warfare. Whether it be attacking small transports that may hold important documents, to destroying their propaganda.

The Dominion

The Dominion, publicly, is a means of hope for humanity. Seeing as they push forth the planets and allow them to lead somewhat 'successful' lives. However, what people do not realize is the corruption beneath it all. They favor those who can supply them with weaponry or order, whilst oppressing those in the lower class, forcing them to work despite near starvation on some planets.

The Demons

A neutral group that both, Dominion and Rebels fear alike. These large monstrosities are unknown creatures that seem to be spreading about, forcing the people into the Dominion's 'protection'. Demons can vastly change between each individual body, including their vital points making combat with them highly irregular. No one knows exactly where the demon's come from, but they seem to be related to the fields some how..

Lynne

One!

Her heart was pounding. Lynne stood, one foot far behind her, the other bent neatly in front. One hand trailed behind her leg while the other was in front of her other one, her fingertips barely touching the hard ground in front her.

Two!

She breathed in deeply. She had done this plenty of times before but today was different. She was determined that this time was going to be different. It had to be. Certainly she had improved enough to beat it? Lynne exhaled.

Three!

The whistle blew and she took off. One foot in front of the other, running, one foot shooting up as the other touched the ground. Her arms at her sides, bent slightly, moving with her. Her ears were ringing and a single bead of sweat dripped down the side of her fact, though she kept her eyes focused and fixed in front of her.

"LEFT!"

She turned, and in one quick motion, pulled out her dagger, "Pearl" as she liked to call it. A Dominion appeared to her left and Lynne lightly moved towards her right, slicing the hologram in front of her. She turned back, never missing a beat, not stopping to watch the hologram wither away, the fake Dominion lurching backwards as if it had really been hit.

"RIGHT!"

She repeated the same steps. Move first, then slash. Keep running.

The third time there was no warning. Another one, directly ahead of her, holding up a weapon. Lynne's face hardened and a light smirk tugged at the corners of her lips. As she came closer, she dropped, sliding right between his legs. She came back up on the other side, stabbing his lower back as she stood then continued her sprint. Routine. She'd done it so many times it was nothing now. Her moves with quick and graceful and she'd perfected them to be deadly accurate.

Now the obstacles.

Random pieces of junk would suddenly appear in front of her. Wether it be a trashcan tipped over, a hurtle, a body crumbled over, anything, she found herself ducking, jumping, and dodging from left to right with ease. The movements had came naturally to her.

Almost.....there.....

She continued her sprint, willing herself to go faster. She sped up, and the final portion came. A large monster, or "Demon" as they were called. Sure Dominions were an issue, but Demons were another threat, not only just for rebels but for everyone.

It certainly looked like an experiment gone wrong. A large creature with two huge hind legs and smaller arms. No eyes, but a small nose which it used to find it's prey instead. It relied on scent to find its victims. The Demon ahead of her opened its huge jaws, revealing rows of crooked jagged teeth. A long thing of drool trailed from its mouth down its chin. Lynne gritted her teeth. Though it was just a hologram it definitely looked real. Every detail descried perfectly, even the sounds it made.

Her first time fighting against it she had failed miserably. Try after try, it'd taken her seemingly forever to find a weak spot for it. Not only was fighting it difficult but she was also a time limit and couldn't waste forever trying to defeat it.

The Demon started towards Lynne, running surprisingly faster than she had thought it would. Though she didn't stop nor slow down even a bit.

It opened its mouth, letting out a loud angry howl. She was closing in by the second.

NOW!

She once again slid, right under, and looked up, seeing the soft part of it's belly as it crouched down to look where she had gone. With a flick of her wrist, Lynne held pearl up and watched it tear away its flesh as she slid across the floor.

She stood, continuing her race, looking back to see it turn and let out another angry howl before withering away, until eventually the hologram disappeared.

Lynne smiled, turning back around just in time to see that it was over. Another sound of the whistle being blown and the landscape around her vanished revealing the training room.

As she slowly came to a stop, a slow clap caused her to turn around and she looked to see one of the trainers walking towards her, smiling.

"Congratulations Lynne. You've beat your record."

Lynne smirked. She placed her hands on her hips and rolled her eyes.

"Of course I did. Just wish I had done it sooner" she sighed, pretending to be upset but she was met with a soft giggle.

"Lynne, ever so cocky as always." she teased.

"Of course."

Looking down at her clipboard, her eyes flickered over the paper. She looked back up.

"Well a whooping 12.51 seconds. Beat your score by approximately three seconds."

Pumping her fist into the air, Lynne let out a small howl of victory.
"Damn right, yes!"

The trainer smiled, shaking her head.
"Though if only defeating demons was as easy as that" she sighed.

And she was right. Defeating them took more that just that. They were large monstrous creatures, each with different traits and some with different ways to kill them. A single long cut, even if it was to its exposed underbelly would more likely slow most down than kill them.

But Lynne shrugged.
"A wins a win." she mumbled, waving her hand dismissively. But the light in her eyes didn't fade. She brushed past her, waving her hand on the way out. "Now if you excuse me I'm off to celebrate!" she yelled, all the way still wearing a smug look on her face.

~*~

Several minutes later Lynne was off. She'd have another training session without her weapons and do a mental assessment another day.Of course, being on planet Eve, one would have to be capable of visualizing something in an instant, considering technology here was more different since it didn't require.....well actual handheld technology itself.

But she wasn't focused on that. No, she was going to celebrate her victory. She moved down the hallway, sliding her dagger in a little belt loop, hiding it underneath her shirt. As she made her way through the halls of the rebel base, she peaked into rooms.

People training, people on computers, someone giving a lecture in the middle of a room full of new trainees. She shook her head, looking away. She was once one of them.

She had been a rebel member for two years now. Maybe one day soon she would be a trainer herself. Or maybe out there doing something bigger. Something better.

Hopefully it'd be the latter.

Lynne stopped, glancing inside another room. This one again full of computers.

She sighed rolling her eyes. She'd never understand. She loved computers as much as the next guy, but being cooped up in a room on them all day was definitely not her idea of fun.

She much preferred being out in the field, fighting, spying, going on daring missions.

"Lab geeks" were what she called them. Some who knew Lynne knew not to be offended by the name but there were also those who took offense either way. She had received plenty of scolds and angry remarks before.

Taking one last peak inside she turned away, continuing her short walk out.

She had to make one last stop first. Her usual spot. Ever since the incident she had gone there every other day. At first it had been every day but she had to stop. Stop going so often.

You can't go there anymore

Lynne remembered his words well.

"Easier said than done" she said bitterly under her breath, looking down at her feet.

She hadn't gone this whole week. She was doing better. But she had to go today. She couldn't miss it. No, not this time. She had to be there today.

To make up for all the times she hadn't been there.

Venix Hallowight

"Unauthorized Access Detected"

The projected interface called out with the warning, attempting to allow others within the proximity that someone was tampering with the device. However, no others were present within the area, allowing the hacker to do as he pleased. The individual remained calm and composed, a playful smirk crossing his lips as if the faulty breach was on purpose. It was a rarity to be alone within a section of the dominion compound, especially when the individual was running for the other team. "Venix, this is not the time to be playing around. Your mission is to gather additional information and escape without a trace, don't forget how much time we spent just to get this chance." The voice greeted him, a blue light curling around his ear as the communication device became active whilst the channel opened.

Two months, that was the amount of time it took them to prepare this mission. Observing patrols, gathering equipment, and plotting the motions to be carried. One might think it can all be done quickly, but when resources are at a low, time requirements expand drastically. Even more so, they had to breach the compound and plant explosives elsewhere to serve as a distraction, hence why Venix was alone in the north wing. The minor insurrection was being carried out by three teams, two of which were playing distractions, whilst the third consisted of four technical operators hacking into the systems from different locations.

One may probably think Venix and the others managed to sneak deep within the compound in order to hack into the main systems. It is normally true that one would have to search for the input device, or computer console that is directly connected to the objective at hand. However, this was not an issue within the planet of Eve. So long as a hacker was within a certain distance, and held any amount of skill, they could access the interface from a position of their choosing. Hence why Venix was capable of leaning against a wall between two of the large structures within the dominion stronghold. That is also why the patrols were so scattered, seeing as there was no single point that they could protect, unless an issue appeared before hand to concentrate their force.

Within the distance another explosion could be heard, signalling that something was going wrong with the distraction efforts. And as if on cue, the communicator gave a light hum as a message began, "Venix, team two reports that multiple squads are moving towards the north wing. It seems a verbal warning is not all you triggered. We have no choice, extract the data you found and get out of there." With the director's voice falling silent, the device quickly shut off, pretty well stating that the order was not up for debate.

A light chuckle escaped Venix, his left hand taking a moments break to brush his bangs away from his eyes. "That's no fun, Regi" He remained before the open interface, quickly scouting through files and coding, on occasion flipping one or two things around simply for amusement. What's more, he even force started the alarms throughout the North Wing and replaced the audio files with an instrumental piece. But, when all fun was had within a couple minutes time he would come to close the interface, cutting the connection with the main systems before making his slow retreat. For whatever reason, he had chosen to take the 'scenic' route, observing the dominion soldiers as they ran about with no coordination whatsoever. They were probably at a loss, seeing as he purposefully tampered with the tracing coding and made it appear his hacking attempts were made from three hundred seventy six different positions within this wing alone.

—_—_—_—_—

It took nearly three hours for Venix to return back to the base of operations, walking casually through the halls as he inspected the various individuals amongst the rooms. Every day the Rebellion was growing with new members, and every day is was proving more difficult to train those who have never fought before. Their numbers were growing, and the fields were severely imbalanced. Not many are field capable, and those members are still being held to train others. On occasion, recruits would be dragged out on the missions, probably another reason that they took so long to prepare. The intelligence department, the one Venix works under, is luckily one of the larger sections. After all, who isn't for staying out of the way of danger. Though most of the members work within the safety of the headquarters, monitoring cameras, breaking coded information, as well working on the plans for the next operations. Field members generally never worked with one another, seeing as pairs would bring too much attention. As such, today's team consisting of four was rather peculiar. They were known to walk the streets, and be the eyes and ears for those stationed at base. Planting the cameras, and observing the locations where incapable from a remote position.

"Venix, you nearly compromised the mission today." A tall, boulder of a man stood before him as he passed through a set of doors, into the briefing room. "What would you do if the others were caught due to your recklessness?! More than that, where have you been? Debriefing was over an hour ago! " The man held a firm stature, his voice, authoritative. He was one of the men known for running the Rebel outpost on Eve, his name, Commander Steele. What did Venix call the man? "Regi," his voice carried in a playful tone, "if you wanted me home you should have called." The man glared down at the young Eriad, hardly containing his anger, knowing this individual was something of a nut. "What did you bring us this time, child?"

A distorted smirk came to Venix's lips as the question was asked. During his return he manage to observe various things that were not told within the systems, giving him an additional edge over the other hackers. "And that Papa Regi, is where the fun lies."

Lynne

Exactly thirty minutes later she'd arrived. Staring up at it no, Lynne realized it'd completely gone to waste. She sighed, breathing in deeply as she did so. Moving slowly at first then gradually accelerating, Lynne pushed open the solid wooden door, and winced as it creaked loudly. Her heartbeat picked up slightly as if someone were going to come rushing down the hall any minute scolding her for disrupting their activities. But the building she was entering now had been abandoned for years now. The place was practically crawling in mold, windows covered with planks, hell, the building itself appeared as if it were going to fall apart any minute. Lynne had long since become immune to all of this though, and pushed open the door a bit wider, allowing a gap big enough for her to squeeze in through. Once she made it inside, her eyes flickered slowly. Dust covered every piece of furniture and huddled in corners. Small holes spread out across the floor resulting from the rotting wood. If one weren't careful they'd easily step in one and risk gaining injury.

She moved slowly up the wooden stairs, each creak seemingly louder than the last. The elevator had stopped working long ago, and even if it were she wouldn't use it anyway. Not only because of the fact it'd most likely break down before she even got past the second floor but mainly because her walking gave her time to think, a time to be alone with her thoughts until she reached the highest level.

Upon finally made it to the top she moved slowly towards the edge of the roof. Her feet just barely touching the end, as she stared down at the ground below her. A fifteen foot drop.

She'd often wondered what she'd felt like. Her last thoughts before she had thrown herself off the building to her death. Was she somewhere happier now if there was an afterlife out there? Or maybe just eternal darkness. For all she knew she could've been reincarnated, another being, somewhere out there among the planets.

Her first time coming, Lynne had cried for god knows how long on top of the root. She hadn't even made it to the edge, just collapsed in a pathetic heap. Her first time coming climbing the stairs she'd been flustered and breathing heavily, even a week or two after that.

Then there were days where she'd become completely enraged, overcome by complete hate. She'd abandon her. They'd all been hurting but she took the easy way out while they had to suffer for the rest of their lives.

It wasn't fair.

Now Lynne just stared wistfully, smiling softly to herself.

"I'm one step closer......one step closer to figuring out the truth." she murmured. A light breeze sent a small shiver down her spine, a reminder she shouldn't stay too long. Her father said it wasn't good for her health and at some point she had agreed. Though Lynne sat down anyway, letting her feet dangle over the edge. She stared out into the sky. The building wasn't far from the city honestly. A quick shortcut through a little forest and you'd arrive. Lynne hadn't known much about it and didn't care to find out. All she really knew was that it had once been an old factor building, long ago shut down and left to decay.

After a few long minutes, she stood quietly and turned, walking back to which she came, glancing back once more before finally disappearing through the doorway.

~*~

"Another round to Lynne!"

She smirked, clanking her drink sloppily with her fellow friends, alcohol sploshing onto her skin. She took a long chug, finishing it off and slamming it on the table.

It was just three of them really. An older guy with dark hair with a tall yet petite figure, who went by the name of Flash. Friends with the owner of the bar and who often bought drinks for his underage friends, though he was a good guy overall despite being a smart ass at times.

Another petite yet short girl by the name of Luna with dark curls running down her back. Shy and reserved and despite the fact she wasn't a heavy drinker would come to the place and order a drink every now and then for she had problems herself at home and often came to try and forget about them. Though tonight instead of her usual sips Lynne had managed to convince her to down an entire bottle and now she couldn't get through a sentence without giggling.

Normally, being a Rebel member, keeping your identity secret was key. But Lynne found that she could trust these two. Yes she was breaking rules but by now she felt even those who didn't know her at the base should be use to her disobeying certain rules. As long as she remained loyal to the cause there was no real harm, right?

Anyway, how these three met was a rather long story itself but either way they'd grown to be quite the trio. Lynne found they all held a deep secret in their past and that was what brought them closer. They developed a deep trust, relying on one another when things got rough.

Lynne giggled as she tried to stand up but failed, stumbling all over the place. She tried once more, gripping her chair with one hand while holding onto the table with the other.

"It's been fun honestly but I've got to go now." she said, a large stupid grin on her face while Luna frowned. "Do you really? It's only been about an hour and a half." she whined though Lynne shook her head. "I've got to....got to....." her voice trailed off and she hiccuped, causing her to erupt the two to erupt in laughter while she attempted to suppress her hiccups which were now coming in strong.

Flash shook his head. Unlike Lynne or Luna his alcohol tolerance was always pretty high. He threw an arm around Lynne, guiding her out while Luna continued whining about her leaving.

"Need a ride?" he asked, turning her to face him. Lynne shook her head. "Nope. Just take care of Luna will ya?" she grinned, petting his cheek. She pulled away, stumbling off down the road, all the while giggling and talking to herself.

~*~

"What the hell were you thinking?" her trainer scolded, guiding Lynne to...where was she guiding her? She was too intoxicated to take in her surroundings but what she did know is they were moving pretty fast now. Lynne staggered and stumbled and her trainer just pushed her along, obviously irritated. Lynne had heard her name being called earlier and discovered it was Tate. She was one of the senior trainers at the base. Because they're were so many recruits, trainers hopped from person to person, and in the end nobody was really assigned a specific one. Lynne had known few of their names and once she found out Tate's she continued on about it, much to Tate's annoyance.

"So Tate? That's really weird you know? It's like...tater tot." Lynne stopped, blinking after realizing what she said her eyes widened and she looked at Tate in complete shock. "You're named after a-"

"No!" she snapped, not letting her finish the sentence. Tate signed in clear annoyance. "I knew you were going to celebrate but I didn't think you'd come back looking a drunken fool." she hissed and Lynne replied with a light laugh and playful shrug. "Relax, I'm fine." she chuckled. As soon as the words left her mouth she tripped over her own feet, stumbling and falling to the ground.

It was a miracle itself she made it to the base without any problems. A miracle she even remembered where it was in this state. Tate had found her almost as soon as she walked in and reluctantly decided to take her to her room but not before finishing an errand first.

Lynne winced. Her head began to pound and it suddenly seemed like a horrible idea to drink considering her tolerance was at a negative.
"Ah, Lynne!" she heard her angry voice, and a pair of hands reached out, grabbing ahold of her and hoisting her up. Lynne winced again, pressing her fingers to her temple while they continued, again at a fast pace than what she could follow.

At last they stopped. Tate turned around quickly looking at her firmly.
"I need to finish something, hold here." she said, and without waiting for her to respond she turned and pushed through a set of doors.

Lynne moved, leaning quietly against a wall allowing the throbbing in her head to calm before following behind Tate. She slipped quietly through the doors, into a room she'd only briefly looked in once. Tate was fiddling in the corner of the room, rummaging through a stack of papers. To her left Lynne noticed an older man and a younger lad talking. Looking closer she recognized him as a commander. Lynne was fairly familiar with all the authorities though only had relationships with a few. She didn't exactly have the best reputation at the base for being...well behaved so she had a habit of attempting to steer clear.

Though this time was difference. Still rather drunk, Lynne began to move towards the two, at first not tripping over her feet or stumbling. Though at the last second, she heard Tate.

"Lynne!"

She hadn't yelled, actually, she barely raised her voice. Though Lynne jumped, startled, turning her head to look at her while still walking and once again found herself tripping over nothing.

"Gah!" she yelped, as she crashed straight into the younger male, falling to the ground as she did so. She groaned, and felt the same hands from before lift her up yet harder to the point where she almost fell once again.

Tate glared at Lynne though Lynne had focused her attention to the person she fell on. He actually didn't seem much older than her though looking closer she also realized she'd never seen him before.

"Who's this Tate?" she asked, turning to her, for a minute completely forgetting about everyone else in the room. Tate merely sighed in frustration shooting an apologetic glance at the commander.
