Question: are there cybernetic enhancements? And when does this take place again? Like, what's the year? I kind of want my character to be a haunted ear veteran who lost his hand in the war.

It's the year 2029, if I remember correctly. It's pretty much the same tech as now, as the war started in 2020, so not much chance for too much innovation because everyone was, well, dying.

I'd actually say that technology advanced quite a bit. Though not necessarily in the U.S. foreign actors who were involved in the stabilization efforts would have to expend massive efforts militarily in order to succeed. Which certainly would have included implementing or inventing new technologies. I'd also say that there might be a large amount of advancement in medical practices for treating people using limited resources. We can save people with terrible injuries yes, but it's hard to save them without proper equipment. We might have found a way around that during the war. Also, the U.S. is probably due for a veritable explosion in technology with everyone trying to get it back up and running again. Take the 50's as an example. The 50's were a huge boost to the world scientifically due to the recent wartime discoveries being implemented in the civilian market, in addition to the massive rebuilding efforts in Europe which created a large demand for civilian products, and even more advancement due to the competition between the Americans and the Soviets. Something similar could happen in the 2030's

Alrighty! Thanks! I think I'll have it where they have primitive working cybernetic limbs. They can move, but not do fine adjustments.

Actually, we already have quite advanced Mechanical Arms now. Basically, they are about equal to a regular arm. They can do fine motor functions maybe not as well as if you hadn't lost your arm, but they are still able to do quite a bit more than just pick stuff up.
