The time of mortals are upon us in history. The universe that the gods ruled long ago has far changed and altered in the fabric of time. Their descendants remain either dead or secluded, and all that we once knew of our great deities have all but minimized. The gods have left us to dry, they vanished. The Abandonment. The humans stand alone in primal civilization, as the savagries of the world remain in the hallows of the darkest and most ancient of places.

Terra - Main and capital province where the king Conqueror resides. Wealthy & dense province.

Mare - Prime province of commerce and trade. Known for ports and harbor lifestyle.

Nomos - Beautiful structures and most secured fortification. Pacifist lifestyle.

Tractus - The largest province. Filled with old tradition, islands, and caves where that our rulers once built.

Stloctus - The second oldest province and most unaffected by the Abandonment. Known for astounding wildlife and scenery.

Mundus - A heavily forested province with dense jungles, swamps, marshes, and rainforests. Primitive lifestyle resides there.

Umbra - Filled with deserts, canyons, and valleys, this province is the least inhabited, but the most private and "peaceful".

Medium - Icy alps, mines, and mountains in this province make it the most prominent in excavated resources for all of Orbis. The people are as cold as the climate.

Obscurus - The most unknown province. Filled with dark caves and jungles and abandoned areas, this province is said to house Death himself. No one ever goes there. ever.

Regnum - The smallest but most influential province. The altar and domain of the gods that once ruled us. Still with the golden and stone landscapes, the people there are grasped on the ways of old religion and faith. A theocratic system.

The ten provinces are what keep us seperate in ways of tradition and custom, but also is the main key in our survival as a species. The fear of the unknown stifles our people at the mere thought, as adventurers are seen as modern day gods among men themselves. From across all lands, we strive and maintain one common ideal: Drive. Keep moving forward in progression no matter what. The beauty and the blemish now is that we all come from different bloodlines, different temperaments and personas, different souls. It's exactly that in which we will need if we are ever to survive.....if we survive.

~This Fantasy journey contains extremely in depth content, action, thrill, and bonding of souls as it focuses on a very unique female isolated from the world and a mysterious traveler that appears in a time of dire situations. abandoned by the gods, malevolence is on the horizon....and when darkness comes, all of the planet Orbis will fall under the abyss...

I need a male character only. Yes you are able to rp multiple characters (optional) but make sure your main one is a male, preferrably human. No god modding, and remember to STAY AND RESPECT THE UNIVERSE YOU ARE IN. Have fun be very open and creative, hold nothing back. Finally, be willing to accept change and spontaneous events! ^_^

Magic definitely exists in this world but to humans it's through spells and incantations it's not just "whip out and cast it" type. White arts (healing, blessing) is seen as acceptable Black arts (harmful spells, cursing) is seen as taboo but is practiced selectively. Supernatual/psychic abilities are gifted to some people but varies greatly, so you'd have to tell me what you had in mind. Limitations aren't really strict but must be rational in respect to the universe.

Rp start: Another day in the land of Orbis after the Abandonment, the event in which the gods (roman lore) left care and protection of the planet for unknown reasons. Flashbacks are allowed to before the Abandonment (kinda like pre and post apocalypse type essence) and that's exactly the plot, but for my character she's an outcast in the Mundus province just trying to make a living she has a mysterious past and comes across a danger that thrusts her into a bigger scheme she could've imagined.

Your character's destiny and background is entirely up to you don't be afraid to create as you wish! :)

RP START ((

@BarkWolfBacon ))
-----------------------------------THE ABANDONMENT, ONE YEAR AND A HALF AGO---------------------------

~The sky flashes lightning of a blood red, and the death black clouds mask a searing orange color as balls of fire and oblivion fall from upon them. Screams of men, women, and children alike flood the air in a tone of fear and urgency. Flames spread for miles around the prominent jungles of the land of Mundus. Smoke creeps into the midst of the jungle city of Leafslot. People falls to their knees in tears of agony. Of defeat. Riots from all over the city were happening, savages running in homes stealing valuables. Burning figues running around in panic and despair, before falling and becoming immobile. In a small wooden shack, my parents pack the little valuables and belongings they have, as I stand in the doorway, gazing upon the destruction that the gods have sent upon us. Chaos everywhere....~

Dart: "Miracle!! Get out of the doorway!" *panicking*

Shana: "Dart! The food!!!" *cramming items into a sack*

Dad: "I know Shana, just put it in the sack with out clothes!" *rushing over to me* "Sweetheart, look at me...get to the outskirts of the city, follow the guardsmen and wait for us there okay?"

Me: "No Dad I--"

Dart: "Stop! Enough! No arguing dear go NOW. NOW." *pushes me off*

Me: *I look back at my dad who's shooing me away, I turn to the endless nightmare before me. The smell of smoke and burned flesh attunes my gag reflex. I cover my nose as I take off towards the edge of the city. Comets and blasts of fire rain down from the sky and I dodge and swiftly move over and under trees and bushes.*

~A ball of fire crashes yards to my right and sends me flying. The wave of heat across my face makes me grimace. I land in a soft bedding of soon to be destroyed flowers.~

[bOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMM!!!!]

Me: "Ugh......ggh..." *shakes my head to recover consciousness. I get up and wearily run towards the rainforest. Dirt and tar cover the right side of my face.*

~One of the citizens grabs me and begins to help support me up towards the edge of the city where the passage to the rainforest is.~

???: "Miracle....hey! Miracle....are you ok?"

Me: *I look up to see a familiar boy I know from the city, Julius. I can't hear anything however as my ears are ringing from the blast.* "Julius....."

Julius: "You're going to be okay, I have you."

~Flames from the wildfires beckon all around us. The population of 1000 was all but lost. Only a few hundred of us remained from the fray of the fires and oblivion. The smoke cloaked us like a oppressing blanket. Behind us, moving flaming figures can be seen rapidly jerking and wailing to their deaths, as red lightning flashes frantically by the pulse, eradicating a complex of lifeforms that resided in the city. Enormous tree housing structures and wooden shelters crunble and topple over with a sound of an earthquake, only complimenting the resonance of damnation spread throughout the land. The view begin to become obscured. Screams still fill the horizon.~

Me: *coughs* "I can't see...nyack!" *coughs*

Julius: *closes eyes* "Just hang o--" *coughs frantically*

Me: *I cling on to Julius as he pushes me forward. My throat and eyes begin to burn*

Julius: *lowers our body position to stay under the smoke*

[Julius!!! Julius!!]

~Julius' parents call to him from the top of the hill. Searching into the smoke for their son.~

Julius: *follows his parents voices* "I'm here ma! Agggh!" *struggles with my limp body*

[FLASSH!!]

~A red flash covers the sky as blood colored lightning hits the domain of Leafslot, sending sparks of flames up for meters around the burning city.~

Me: *jumps out of fear*

Julius: "AHHH!! No!"

Julius' Mother: *takes me and fans me* "Are you okay?"

Julius: *coughs* "Fine mother..."

Julius' Mother: "Dear, where's Dart and Shana?" *to me*

Me: *looks up at Julius' mom* "I....they told me to get out...they were grabbing things..." *I try to stand*

Julius: "Easy....easy..." *cradles me*

Julius' Dad: "I'll go halfway and make sure they're safe! Stay with the boy Sittany!"

Sittany: "But John...!"

John: "Stay! Here!" *runs down into the smoke*

~Right as John begins to run down, another comet darts towards the ground right at the slope of the hill, blasting John back.~

Julius: "DAD!!"

Sittany: "JOHN!!"

John: "Agh!" *stumbles back and runs back up to the hill*

Me: *stands and runs to the edge of the hill* "DAD!? MOM!?" *yelling into the smoke*

Sittany: "Miracle get BACK sweetie!" *reaching out for me*

Me: *I begin to worry intensely as my heart begins to race furiously. My focus increases as time seems to manuever slowly and I zone out into the smoke, waiting to see my parents faces. I ball my fists in anticipation.*

Julius: "Miracle!" *rushes to come and get me*

Me: *continues to look into the void of gray and red, and then my face widens at the sight of something heart wrenching.*

~Dart and Shana emerge from the smoke, low to the ground with two big sacks in their hands. My face shows one of mild shock as I motion them to hurry to the top of the hill. Their eyes lock on mine as they show looks of fatigue and relief....until something catches my attention to make my face drop. A sound. The sound of something approaching. Approaching fast. From the sky. I nod my head up through the depths of the smoke to make out a vivid hot orange red ball in the sky....shooting right towards our location...~

----------------------------------------PRESENT-------------------------------------------

Location: Jungle City of Leafslot, Mundus Province

Time: Dusk of Sunday

~Through the dense jungle weeds and plantlife, branches and bushes of lush green snap underneath the trampling of a multitude of feet. Feet of an entire force. They march through the jungle with precision and mission in their step, as the surrounding people take heed to the thunderous motion and begin to part a path for the arriving army. The slow whispers and chatter of the citizens spread like a wildfire as they retreat into their homes in a network of ancient trees. The army consists of rugged looking individuals, both male and female members are toned, bronzed, and muscled to the teeth. Tall, hardy warriors with facepaint and metallic breastplates covering them with cloth sashes on the lower body. The legion of about 40 approach one particular wooden shack rather secluded from the main district of Leafslot. The head warrior knocks on the wooden door with a prejudice, sending dust from the door on impact.

The citizens look on with curiousity and anxiety....as children are sent inside their homes to avoid seeing or even becoming a part of the foreshadowed malevolence at hand.

I open the door with a blank look unto the barbarian army of Mundus. The savages they were.~

<p><a href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2014_07/barbarians.jpg.6d82f8d697fa53a4ca4c0c55e3715dad.jpg" class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image"><img data-fileid="22056" src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2014_07/barbarians.jpg.6d82f8d697fa53a4ca4c0c55e3715dad.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt=""></a></p>

Head Barbarian: "Conqueror Albert requests your presence at once."

Me: *crosses my arms* "Hmm...is this about what I found in the marshes? He still has to pay me for that job."

Head Barbarian: "Best to mind your words. The Conqueror does as he pleases and WILL return compensation."

Me: "Compensation? You know words that meticulous for a savage?"

Head Barbarian: "Why you--" *approaches me threatened*

Female Barbarian: "Heel, Lork. Remember the Conqueror's words..." *pulls Lork back*

Lork: *steps back*

Me: "My apologies. I didn't mean anything by it. What does the Conqueror want with me? I've done nothing out of premise."

Female Barbarian: "He wants you to use that clever wisdom of yours to help capture a group of bandits we believe hides out in the swamps."

Me: "I've already told him. I'm no inspector, nor am I a mercenary."

Lork: "But you will come to him when he needs your service, no one refuses the Conqueror." *glares me down*

Me: *to Lork* "You should learn what tact means.."

Female Barbarian: "TO HELL WITH TACT! The world is gone to shit as is, there are no gods. Not anymore. There is only the law. Law of the jungle. We're asking you nicely to have a chance to help the people of Mundus yet you stand there upright as if you are some scholar young girl. We could force you to go....not like your parents are around to stop us...or help you for that matter..."

Me: *I mildly glare at the female barbarian, a bit of sadness hits me*

Lork: "You're coming....how willfully is up to you."

Me: *I look out in the arsenal of savages. Their buffed, intimidating bodies nowhere near my concern, but the intentions of the Conqueror weigh my mind* "Let me get my things." *I head inside my shack to grab my coinpurse with 50 silver and 7 gold. I also grab my long bladed sword and exit my small home*

~The army splits as I walk through to a carriage with two white steeds pulling an ivory wagon. The barbarians just stand and watch as I crawl in and begin to be pulled off from my homeland of Leafslot. The loud steps follow all around me as the army escorts me half a day's time towards Nature Castle, home of Conqueror Albert. As I look into the ceiling of the wagon....all I can think about is the catastrophic events of one year ago. The Abandonment. The day the old gods left humanity to rot and fall like the ants they seen us as. I lean my head back into the soft seats and catch the eyes of Julius, as he returns a look of concern and mild rage...~

Conquerors are rulers of a given province. Just as a King is to a kingdom, they are appointed (by rule) to run the province they are domained in. The High Conqueror is the highest rank of authority on Orbis. His province is Terra, the capital province.
The Conqueror of Mundus. Heads the Barbarian army of the jungle lands but he himself is very refined and mild in nature. Very skilled combatant that wields a spear.

(THE ABANDONMENT) 1 1/2 years ago.

MEDIUM, EASTERN MOUNTAINS

The Winterman were not prepared for The Abandonment. They had been formed as reactionary measure against the growing tide of darkness that rose up from the mountains, into the mines, and out to the surrounding area. Oberyn's father, Tykus, had always said it was an omen, a warning that something bigger was on the horizon. He had been correct. The world seemed rain hell down upon their heads, and the vile creatures who poured from the depths of Orbis banded together into a fearsome army, raiding Medium and razing it to the ground.

The sky was red and angry, the lightning coming from it an unnatural color. Avalanches covered entire villages and mines collapsed on top of their workers. Tykus' clan of Winterman were patrolling the eastern edge of Medium when The Abandonment started, and they had arrived in the nearby town of Haven to find it under siege by horrific creatures. Led by Tykus and Oberyn, the Winterman managed to break through the monsters' forces and into the town, where they barricaded the remaining villagers in the temple. Now only 6 of them stood, while the monsters' forces were seemingly infinite.

"STAND YOUR GROUND!" Tykus bellowed, swinging his Icewood staff around to disembowel a charging goblin. Each Winterman was fighting two to three of the monsters at once, it was a desperate struggle that they could not win, but they had a plan. Behind them, one Winterman stood, his arms moving in intricate patterns as the air around him rippled. Oberyn knew the truth; they didn't need to win, they just needed to survive long enough for Throki to finish his incantation.

A large monster, twice the size of Oberyn, came to attack him. The Orc swung its arm in a wide arc to smack him, but Oberyn leaped into the air and spun sideways over it, driving his sword into the creatures forearm. It stuck, and Oberyn held on with all of his strength as the Orc tried to throw him off. He did not relent, and when the creature paused, he pulled the sword from its arm and ran up its length, screaming as he went to slice its throat open.

But he never got the chance, its other hand reached around too fast for him to dodge, grabbing him by the neck and lifting him into the air. To Oberyn's right he saw his father get run through by a goblin spear, blood splattering on the snow. As he looked left he saw his friend, Wilhelm, decapitated.

The Orc threw Oberyn high into the air, away from the battle and over the village. He heard a boom as he flew through the air, and had only enough time to see Throki's spell finally finish- a colossal tidal wave of flame pouring over the army, destroying the entire force.

He awoke in a deep snow pile, the only thing that saved his life from the fall. When he finally got back to Haven, the scent of burning meat filled his nostrils, and he became sick at the sight. A whole army burned in front of him, with the majority of the Winterman dead in front of the temple. His father rested against the temple, near death. He handed Oberyn his Icewood staff, a weapon of the highest quality, and gazed lovingly at his son.

"I thought you dead, my son! Perhaps not all is lost here. We must do more now, Oberyn." He coughed, blood spattering the snow, "The Winterman can no longer simply patrol. It is time to find a solution to this madness, it has gone too far." His father looked as though he was going to say something else, but the man's last breath came, and he passed into the afterlife.

(PRESENT DAY)

MEDIUM, VILLAGE OF HAVEN

"Priscilla, this is more than I can afford." Oberyn protested, gazing in awe at the amount of supplies the store matron had placed in his pack.

She laughed and waved his comment off with her hand. "Bah! The least I can do for the Hero of Haven, yes?" Her wispy white curls hung to her shoulders, and Oberyn noticed that she was looking older every time he saw her. "You be careful down there, boy. The rest of Orbis is a dangerous place. I...will probably have joined the ancestors in death by the time you return, Oberyn."

He hugged her and gave her a kiss on the cheek. "It seems like a lifetime ago you cared for me after The Abandonment. I was such a mess."

"You were a boy who just lost the only parent he had ever known." She put a wrinkled hand on his shoulder and smoothed out his cloak. "I've seen older men reduced to ruin for less. You are as strong as Tykus ever was- oh how he used to boast about your ability! Use it to find whats got the world on fire, Oberyn."

He nodded and hugged her again, "You are the mother I never had, Priscilla, I will miss you."

She motioned him out the door and fought back tears as he left. "Just make sure you don't join me in death any time soon, boy."

Oberyn smiled a sorrowful grin as he turned his back and set out from Haven on the stony path down the mountainside. His father had been right, he had to find what was plaguing Orbis, and he could do no good from the mountaintops. So he set out on his own, his father's staff by his side and a purpose in his stride.

He had work to do.

~I open my eyes to an azure blue sky as the sun sets in the horizon. The trampling of heavy barbarian feet drown out the suttle steps of horseshoes. I sit alone in the refined carriage, contemplating what lies before me.~

Me: "May I ask why we're traveling at nightfall?" *sticking my head out of the carriage*

Lork: "Oh, look who's awake. Hmph, scared of a little darkness girl?"

Me: "No, but it seems a bit backwards."

Female Barbarian: "Why don't you just enjoy your luxury like the brat that you are."

Me: "Then....what does that make Conqueror Albert for hiring a brat into the ranks?"

Lork: -__- "Her sass annoys me..."

Barbarian follower: "Aye..."

~The savages ignore me as they carry me onward to Nature Castle.~

Me: *I stick my head back in and pull out my blade. The blade I found that day of the Abandonment. An Icewood handle with a chrome titanium finish. I look into the blade at my purple-blue eyes wondering....well, I'm not sure what I'm wondering*

~I take time to gaze upon the beautiful plantlife all around us as we make our way through the pass. Gorgeous flowers blossom and vivid green plants give me a feel of joy....but also in the green lies black. Dead spaces and withered plants from a year and a half ago. Never to grow back ever again. Something so beautiful, yet something so chaotic, all in one~

<p><a href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2014_07/mundus10.jpg.d1ebef7dd1e0189246e3802a7ef4b227.jpg" class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image"><img data-fileid="22093" src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2014_07/mundus10.jpg.d1ebef7dd1e0189246e3802a7ef4b227.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt=""></a></p>

Me: *begins to doze off once more*

???: *whispers to me* "You are....grand."

Me: *my eyes shoot open as I look around at the source of the voice, as I'm the only one in the wagon*

~The trampling of the savages and steeds continue.~

Lork: "Hey Dahna, you ever catch that troll you said you'd slay...?"

Dahna, the Female Barbarian: "Not yet....oh but I will..."

Lork: "Hah! Suuuuure"

Dahna: "Do not underestimate me, I will decimate that animal!"

Me: *mumbles* "Another big word for the brawny..."

~More barbarians converse in the back of the ensemble.~

Barbarian1: "That lass sure is fair...I wonder how she courts with fellows?"

Barbarian2: "Fellows? Heh, in Leafslot the most fair lad there probably owns a botanical garden or something!" *chuckles*

Barbarian1: *laughs* "Botanical garden! Oh you crack me up!"

Lork: "Quiet back there! Stay focused!"

Me: "Hey, Lork....has anyone even seen these bandits?"

Lork: "There are eye witness reports from around Nature City. We've been tracking them but they know how to hide."

Me: "What are their descriptions?"

Lork: "Varies. Some say tall, some say short....they all have masks on..."

Me: "Hmm..." *sits back in my seat. For some reason I just can't stop dozing off. I fight sleep as the dark of night creeps upon me*

Barbarian1: *whispers* "Hey...I bet she's a screamer in the bed chambers..."

Barbarian2: *whispers back* "Her soft skin...oh she'd be a treat" *smirks*

Lady Barbarian: *eavesdrops* "You two are pigs...knock it off and stay alert." *shakes head*

Barbarian2: "Come off it! You're just angry no one speaks of YOU that way."

Lady Barbarian: "You little cur!--" *shoves Barbarian2*

Barbarian 1&2: *laughs*

Me: *I open my eyes at the nightlife of the beautiful forest. I get lost in the glowing plants and beacons of small bugs giving off life. After Abandonment I developed a more keen understanding and respect for ALL life. It's peaceful, and as much I love to stay indoors, I didn't mind getting away. Not right now.*

~A small lightning bug flys right by the wagon. I reach out to grab and bring the bug inside the wagon.~

Me: "Hey there little one..." *gazing at the bug in my palms* "I wish I could fly like you sometimes....and I wish I wasn't talking to a bug...but that's what my life's been boiled down to. Maybe this is supposed to happen? Maybe you're a god huh? In disguise?" *sighs as I release the bug back out into the forest*

~I look out unto the stars. The beautiful night sky with stars lighting the entire domain. I can't help but wonder...if they're truly gone, why leave the traces behind?~

Oberyn had managed to travel a week and a half without incident, but the bandits following him just out of sight were determined to bring his good luck to an end. He knew they were there, and had made no move against them. The jungle that was most of Mundus was dense enough that he had hoped they would give up and turn around, unwilling to press deeper into the dense foliage.

He wanted to sleep soon, and he tired of their chase. If it must end in blood, then so be it. he thought, stopping and gripping his Icewood staff a little tighter.

"Were I to wish it," he called into the dense wood around him, "I could spear you with my blade through the plants you hide behind." The Winterman stood still, waiting for a response. Finally a tall elf in tribal garments stepped out of a bush, two long and curved swords resting in his hands.

"You travel very far, human. Do you have anything to eat? perhaps you would like some company." The elf said, its voice dripping with venom. Three more bandits exited the jungle, boxing him in.

"Are you truley that foolish?" Oberyn laughed heartily. "You ask a man whom you've watched travel a great deal if he has food to share. If it is food you are looking for I suggest you learn to hunt, as I exhausted my supplies three nights ago."

The bandit leader took a step forward, closing in the boxed space between them. The others followed with him. "Your weapons and fancy foreign armor will fetch a high price here, we will eat plenty well- thanks for the worry though, human."

Yes, Oberyn thought, so much easier when the prey comes to you. Come just a little closer...

"I do not want to kill you, elf. The Winterman have no quarrel with the Fey peoples." Oberyn said, his voice dark and husk- threatening but diplomatic at the same time.

"We are not with the Fey, you foolish imp!" He screamed, stepping closer, "Winterman you say? My you have traveled far haven't you? Is it true what they say about the Wintermen? That they are cold no matter the temperature?"

"Yes, friend, because there is nothing but ice in our lands." Oberyn quickly spun his body, his staff's blade pointed out and propped against his elbow, it disembowled most of them, cutting the leader completely in half. He leaned in closely to the Elf's ear, the final moments of its life playing across its breath.

"And there is nothing but ice in our hearts." With that he gave the body a shove, and it fell in two seperate pieces on the lush floor.

Well that takes care of that, he thought, scanning the clearing for more and seeing none. He was scavenging supplies and money from the bandits when he heard something.

Is that....carriage wheels? Trying to make as little noise as possible, he climbed up a hill and peered over the incline, about 7 feet beneath him, some sort of barbarian caravan was passing through. He watched it progres and wondered who it belonged to.

Lork: "HALT!!!"

~The entire arsenal stops. The carriage comes to a sudden stop as I thrust forward and jerk awake.~

Me: "What the--"

Lork: *interrupts* "Shut. Up. I heard commotion in the green ahead." *walks forward*

Me: *peeks my head out into the dark forestry around me*

Dahna: "Stay in the carriage wayfarer."

Me: "I can handle myself.."

Dahna: "And I am under strict orders. You are to report to the castle safe and sound." *eyes me down*

Me: "Yeah well like I said--" *attempts to step out of the wagon*

~About 5 barbarians on my side immediately shove me back into the wagon and point at me not to try again.~

Me: "Hey!..."

Lork: "SHHHHHHHHHHH!!!" *pulls out greatsword and approaces the bushes*

~5 barbarians draw their weapons and follow behind Lork, Dahna stays behind to protect me.~

Lork: *waves through the bushes and plants until he steps on something that stops him.* "Here!" *reaches down and pulls weeds aside to reveal a dead elf, intestines slung out of it.*

Dahna: "What is it??"

Lork: *yells back* "A DEAD ELF!" *looks at it's wound* "Something sliced him wide..."

Barbarian1: "Or someone..."

Barbarian2: "Sir! Over here! We got more bodies!" *looking at two other dead elves*

Me: "Is it the bandits or just some creatures?"

Dahna: "Quiet you." *to me*

Me: "Ugh" *rolls eyes*

Lork: *treads a bit further to see a pair of legs leaking blood* "Something else is here....GUARD!!! ARM UP!!!"

~The entire 40 unsheath their various weapons of spears, swords, daggers, and bows. They release a chant into the night air in unison.~

[AWHOO!!]

Barbarian: "Are they bandits!?"

Lork: *scans corpses* "No.....they were tribal forest elves....probably out hunting. The bandits WE are looking for are human. Search the area, I want every inch cleared before we progress. Dahna, stay with the girl."

Dahna: "Indeed."

~30 barbarians fan out with faces of bloodlust. 10 remain around the wagon to protect me. I myself look out into the darkness as listen for the faintest of sounds that indicate a threat. I look up amongst the trees and over by the brush to see a hill treading off from the pass.~

Me: *slowly draws my katana*

~A huge, 6'7 200+ pound barbarian approaches from the front at Dahna.~

Brute: "You think it's still here...?"

Dahna: "Don't know, Rargus....keep your senses about you..."

Oberyn was shocked to see how many barbarians were guarding this caravan. Just who do they have in there? He wondered, maneuvering out of sight and backing down from the tiny hill. He lay on the forest floor, both sides of the tiny ravine he had climbed up arcing away from him. A smile spread across his face as he thought of a decent way to communicate with them without being immediately impaled. It was a trick the goblins used to use in the mountains, to seem stronger then they really were.

He cupped his hands around his mouth, shouting up from the bottom of the ravine. The sound bounced around and was slightly amplified, making him not only difficult to locate, but also seem unnaturally loud.

"The corpses you find were felled by a Winterman, friends!" He shouted. "I mean you no harm! I am no bandit, nor villain! They attacked me while I traveled! May I ask where you are going?" Oberyn shouted, then nestled down and stayed quiet, listening to the last bit of his echo die away.

~In a split second of the voice beginning to echo through the forest, the weapons of the barbarians had raised with extreme prejudice and precision. Bloodlust blanketed their faces ad the primal rage inside begin to come out.~

Lork: *cautiously* "None of your concern, coward. How do we know that you're not a bandit if you don't show yourself? A man who claims to not be something yet hides in the shadows like a scared dog seems a bit off to me..."

~The entire legion of barbarians fan out with a desire to kill, as two stand directly below the ravine.~

Rargus: "And what the hell is a Winterman..?"

Me: *I catch the words of Rargus as it compels me to peek out of the wagon* "Winterman..?"

Dahna: "Get BACK inside!" *shoves me inside*

Me: *I see now that the barbarians have spread out, so I exit the wagon opposite of Dahna and draw my katana*

Rargus: *sees me* "Get your ass back inside now we're trying to protect you!"

Me: *Continues towards Lork* "Don't need it..."

~Dahna suddenly approaches behind me and pulls my arm towards the wagon. I jerk away and stare her down.~

Dahna: "Listen bitch, I am TRYING to guard your life no matter what or how you feel...so get your ass back in...or else."

Rargus: *walks up behind me* "You'd do best to listen."

Me: *I turn to walk back into the carriage until I see something that stops me. The ravine, the hill. I connect the dots and figure as it is the only place of concealment other than the plants that's where the stranger is.* "Fine, but I know where he hides...guess you'll have to find out for yourself then..."

Rargus: "Tell us."

Me: "No, you barbarians all have it figured out right? So go be arrogant and search for an endless time."

Dahna: "Listen here you little snob...you are defying the orders of the Conqueror right now, YOU seem to think YOU know it all but you clearly don't. This isn't Leafslot, so have some gratidtude for people trying to safeguard your ass." *jacks me up and pushes me against the wagon*

Me: *hits the wagon and I just stare blankly at Dahna*

Lork: "Why don't you come then, oh brave 'Winterman' ....." *laughs*

~The entire troupe of savages chuckle at the sarcastic praising of Wintermen.~

"You don't know of the Wintermen, friend?" Oberyn rotated his head so that the shouts would reflect around, making it sound as though he was moving as he spoke.

"We are clan of monster hunters from the Mountains! Never allowed to settle down, never allowed to stop until death! You seem awfully eager to run one of those rusty swords through me, you know?"

He thought about what he heard them say and reacted in kind, "I hear you're under orders from the Conqueror, I have been traveling to meet with the Conqueror, to discuss exactly how The Abandonment hit Leafslot! I seek no harm to you, would you not sheathe your blades for an extra helper at your side? I have no desire to harm you."
Oberyn tightened his grip on the Icewood staff, ready to spring into action if need be.

"And it certainly wouldn't benefit your numbers if you chose to attack me, that I assure you."

Lork: "HAH! Your words ring weak with us boy. Now we'll give you one last chance to--"

Me: *interrupts* "Stop!!!" *runs out of the wagon* "Did he say Leafslot? He said Leafslot did he not?"

Dahna: "Hey! I've told you thrice now...."

Lork: "Do not be so naive as to listen to his deceitful words girl. A true warrior does not hide as he does. Plus....our numbers would benefit greatly from spilling your blood you wretched coward."

Me: "Enough with the insults, Lork....we get it." *acts as if I don't know where Winterman hides* "If you've really come in good favor, why not throw a sign of good faith? I have some really nasty savages....barbarians here, and I promise you that if you show yourself and ensure you're not a threat they will NOT harm you." *I glare at the savage barbarians with a look of contempt* "I REAAALLLLY think you should consider my proposal..."

~Barbarians with bows and arrows begin to spread the perimeter of our location.~

Me: "Yeah, it would be REAL wise sir..."

A woman? So that's what was in the carriage...

Oberyn stood up and walked to the edge of the hill, sliding down it slowly and coming to a stop not far from a few barbarians. He had his weapon down, in a rest position that clearly wasn't threatening, and put his fist to his forehead; a customary greeting from the mountains of Medium.

"I am Oberyn Winterman, of Medium, clan leader of the Eastern Watchmen and first of my name. I am seeking out information regarding the Abandonment."

The red orb on the "hilt" of the bladed staff caught the light and gleamed, casting a red light over Oberyn's right half. His armor was dirty from travel, and his beard a tad longer than he normally kept it.

"I am no marauder, friend, and if you are on your way to the conqueror I would like to join you, as I desire an audience."

~The barbarians close in on the tall, hardy fellow with unique attire. Lork approaches him and holds his sword to the man. Dozens of arrows aim at the wayfarer's scalp, looks of rage and conquest fills their faces as they grunt in pride at the sight of the stranger.~

Me: "Easy lads.....easy..." *approaches through the crowd to get a good look at Oberyn* "Look at his attire people...light crust armor, thick boots for cold terrain, and that Icewood staff....clearly a piece from the north...he's from Medium." *I show Oberyn the Icewood handle on my katana* "Now I don't know why you're here really, but either way we have to take him with us..."

Lork: "You're mad, girl. No way he leaves this area with murder on his hands..."

Me: *Looks at dead elves* "Law of the jungle remember? He says they attacked him, which is reasonable because he's alone. If he truly has a fleet of bandits, don't you think they'd be here? Don't you think the elves would flee?"

Rargus: "Could be a trap, to flank us up the road!"

~Other barbarians nod and chatter in agreement with Rargus.~

Me: "So, Oberyn...if you're the clan leader of the 'Eastern Watchmen', where are they?"

Lork: "Good question" *glares at Oberyn*

~Dahna and Rargus stand on both sides of me as they draw weapons in my protection.~

Dahna: "And why are you HERE seeking answers? Why not just go to your Conqueror in Medium?"

~The multitude of valid questions makes the barbarians uneasy about Oberyn. They prime their weapons directly to him at the blink of any wrong move he would make. I look on in curiostiy as well, skeptic about his intentions.~

Me: *stares directly into Oberyn's eyes, waiting for a response.*

"My clan is back in the mountains, fighting the monsters that rise up from the depths. Were we to all abandon our posts, your lands would be swarmed within 4 years. I chose to go alone, as the lone survivor of our clan's battle during the Abandonment, to ask others who were present at the locations who suffered the worst from the calamity. It took me quite some time to rebuild our forces after that day."

He pointed to the Icewood grip on the woman's katana and smiles. "You'll never find a better weapon that that, Lass. Icewood is the best material I've ever known."

Oberyn gestured towards the rest of the barbarians. "As for those of you who worry of an ambush, I would ask why you found a group of dead elves felled by one blade instead of by many. Were I to have companions do you not think they would have aided me in battle? The conqueror in Medium did not experience the Abandonment the way many others did. He fought in no battle and hid like a coward, I have more knowledge about what our lands suffered than he does regarding the subject. But I also need more information, and being a foreigner I also need something that proves my validity, as your rather imposing group has made quite clear."

Me: *smiles at the comment Oberyn makes about my weapon, looking down at the blade*

Lork: "Ha! You think Medium is the only place with creatures of the void? Your ignorance amuses me. We have things here words would not dare to entertain...yet we survive. Unlike your...what is it? 'Wintermen' and suppose you are alone...what's stopping us from slaying you and taking that weapon of yours? "

Me: "Oh by Jupiter... Lork knock off it. Pride isn't suiting the situation. Yes, he killed them, so he must answer for his deeds at the Castle. You think Conqueror Albert would be pleased with your rude impulsiveness?"

Dahna: "Let him find his own way....he's gotten this far."

Rargus: "I say we string him up and take him to Nature Castle."

Me: "I'm sure he'll go willingly...right Oberyn? No need for quarrel."

Dahna: "Suprised the Sabres haven't destroyed him yet...he's lucky nightfall just hit."

Lork: *eases up a bit, lowers sword* "Hand over your staff, and we'll be off."

Sabres are saber toothed tigers that prowl the jungles of Orbis, mostly Mundus. Extremely ferocious and agile, they don't hesitate to strike any animal/person. Usually seen in ones or twos. About 5' in height and large in size, their fur makes for nice profit and/or clothing application.

Oberyn smiled as coldly as he could and gripped his staff a little tighter.

"Is it customary for your people to threaten death upon a man and ask him to willingly relinquish his weapon in the same breath? I will come with you, I will even allow you to surround me with armed guards so as to make sure I try nothing foolish, but I will not part with my weapon. To do so is a great shame to a Man of the Winter. Now before it gets dark let us be on our way, I would hate for anything bad to happen to this young lady you have done such an eager job of protecting."

Lork: *shoves Oberyn* "Is that a threat boy?" *raises sword*

~The barbarians once again prime their weapons.~

Me: "Hey! Everyone relax, he only speaks the truth. If the Sabres AND the bandits are about, don't you suggest we get a move onward towards the castle?" *walks in between Lork and Oberyn* "The longer we wait the more we welcome the death that's lies all around us."

Lork: "..................BARBARIANS!......Regroup, let's move onward.." *stares Oberyn down before walking off."

Me: *stares at Oberyn* "I hope you're true to your word...." *I walk to the carriage*

Oberyn followed the woman to the carriage, glaring at the few barbarians who flanked him wherever he went. "Strange for an army of barbarians to be protecting one woman, even a woman wielding a weapon as fine as that sword. I am afraid you find me at a disadvantage, for you know much about me; and I know nothing of you." He smiled a genuinely warm grin and then sighed as a few barbarians made it clear he was not where they wanted him.

He did not budge, however.

"You keep lovely company, if I may add."

Me: *chuckles* "Yeah well it's not as big a deal as you think, I mean I'm not royalty or anything I just--"

Dahna: *interrupts* "In the carriage, we have to move. Now. And you, outsider, to the front of the pack. My men will surround you as we escort to the castle."

Me: *I look at Oberyn with a shrug of apathy and I enter into the wagon*

Rargus: "Alright, Mediumian...to the front. And you'd do REAL well not to test us. RIGHT BARBARIANS!!?"

~The barbarians release a chant before priming their weapons to Oberyn as we begin to move.~

[AWHOO!!!]

~I just couldn't stop thinking about Oberyn mentioning Leafslot. How had he heard of my small hometown? Had my city really suffered THAT badly that word reached to all provinces? I wanted to ask, but I was still indifferent about the type of man he was. I wanted to ask him badly, but to avoid further trouble I just lean back in my plush seat and stay silent.~

A relatively small city infused with the jungle, rainforests, and dense plantlife. Building structures are comprised of large complexes built inside of massive old and durable trees. Vine brideges, ziplines, and passageways fill the upper level of the city. On the outskirts of the city lie beautiful rainforests and jungles, but also dangerous at times. Wooden shacks and huts are ironically considered higher status in preference in the city. After the Abandonment, black ash and smut cover some of the city, and a huge oak monument of a pillar was built in memoriam of lives lost.

Oberyn wasn't sure who this woman was, but wondered why she needed an army of barbarians to transport her to the Conqueror. The jungle was dense and muggy, but the temperature was dropping as night crept in. It was no where near as cold as the mountains of course, but it did bring a slight bit of comfort to Oberyn.

An Icewood grip on her blade, how strange. Icewood rarely left Medium. As rare as it was in the mountains, it was twice as rare outside; some even believed it to be a myth. His and the strange lady's weapons proved that to be false, although he doubted the barbarians around them cared. They appeared to be whipped dogs. A fondness formed in his heart for his own Eastern Watchmen, whom swore fealty only to the protection of the realm. Twas a much more honest way to live, at least that is how Oberyn felt.

Their progress was impressive, despite the dense foliage, and Oberyn found himself hoping he would be able to talk more with the woman in the carriage, as she seemed to be the only one in this party that had any sense about her. She had seemed very interested when he mentioned Leafslot. Her home town, mayhap? He thought, thinking back to what he had learned in a tavern just before the jungle.

The Abandonment was felt harshly by all, but it seemed that some places had been epicenters of destruction. For whatever reason, it was not spread evenly- there had been concentrations of awful power that day in certain places, Leafslot being one of them. He had heard tales of fire falling from a red sky, as if Mars himself had decided to throw down his wrath upon it.

In Haven, a monster army unlike any seen before attacked in a way so organized, it was beyond comprehension. There was more to what had transpired that day. He was sure of it.

Me: *I look down at the Icewood handle of my katana, stroking it's texture to actually feel the content and essence of it.*

~The escort was relatively silent for the most part. Mainly barbarians focused on the Winterman and watching him at every breath. He seems so harmless, but why IS he all the way out here? It contuniued to grip my mind. Dahna walked to my right and Rargus to my left, as Lork stayed right near the traveler from Medium.~

Me: *contemplates if these savages are really going to leave the fellow unharmed. I begin to think of an old song in my head my mother used to sing all the time.*

Rargus: "Alright men, we're closing in on the castle! Prime yourselves for any last incursions.."

[AWHOO!] ~The barbarians chant in unison.~

Me: *I peek out of the wagon to look upon the well lit Nature Castle. Enormous in size and comprised of white stone walls with golden roofing, it stands out heavily in the abundance of nature and ecolife surrounding it. I then peek to the Winterman, as he remains there silent and walking with barbarians glued to him.*

Dahna: *blows a small horn to signal arrival*

~In the distance the huge rustling of metal can be heard, as the main castle doors open up and a group of armored more aquired looking guards ride out on horseback with torches to come and greet us.~

<p><a href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2014_07/NatureGuard.jpg.2bc90c2a1ed549a758d310bdb8360528.jpg" class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image"><img data-fileid="22243" src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2014_07/NatureGuard.jpg.2bc90c2a1ed549a758d310bdb8360528.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt=""></a></p>

Arch-Guard: "Hold thee! Have you the girl?"

Lork: "Yupp" *gestures towards wagon where I stick my head out* "And we have......an outsider, claims he's from Medium."

Arch-Guard: *Analyzes Oberyn* "Well....he certainly doesn't outfit from around here, who are you outsider?" *to Oberyn*

An enormous castle covered in rich white walls. The domain and home of Conqueror Albert of Mundus. Nature City lies in front of the castle, which is the capital of Mundus. Gold roofing tops the castle to give off its elegance and wealth. The Nature Guard protects the city and castle and are the Conqueror's most noble and skilled warriors.
The city the remains in front of Nature Castle, it is the capital of Mundus and contains three main districts: The Ground District is where the common everyday housing and bar & tavern lie. The Tree District is where all of the shops such as the blacksmith, trader, and food/produce markets are, along with a chapel and beautiful park. The Green District is only reserved for nobles, officials of Orbis, and the most wealthy. Large homes and elegant buildings reside there.

The Nature Guard is the sole protectors and enforcers of The Conqueror and Nature City. The Arch-Guard are considered the most skilled of all warriors in Mundus in combat and expertise.

Oberyn saw the first spire of Nature City through the jungle canopy. When they finally cleared the jungle and came to its gates he could hardly contain his awe. It was a grand spectacle, much bigger than anything he had ever seen in Medium. A knight in full plate armor rode out to them, asking if the barbarians had the girl. Then they asked who he was. It took him a second to shake the awe of the city from his eyes, and he smiled at the knight as best he could.

"My name is Oberyn Winterman, captain of the Eastern Watchmen. I am indeed from Medium, and I come to seek an audience with Conqueror Albert on behalf of Conqueror Vishal of Medium. The Conqueror wishes he could have come himself, but is in a sorry condition these days, sir knight."

Arch-Guard: "Hmm....I see...."

Lork: "Not so fast, he killed four elves in the forest just outside of Leafslot Pass. Claims it was self defense but they are natives of the Gold tribe. Their people will want answers to prevent a war.."

Arch-Guard: "Indeed, well, you are to escort them to the main courtyard. I will inform the Conqueror of your successful arrival and situation." *rides off*

~The citizens of nature city come out and stare upon the entire ensemble of barbarians and guests. Humans and a few elves of different types sprawl the city with eyes upon all of us. The barbarians begin to move us slowly through the gates.~

Me: *I look around at the marvel of the city with casual demeanor. I've been here several times before, so I've gotten used to it. Still it's quite beautiful.*

~I heard the Winterman mention Conqueror Vishal, probably the Conqueror I was least familiar with. I had heard great tales of how he heroically took down an entire horde of monsters by himself, of course many people deny these stories as false fables. I've never seen a photo of him~

Nature City was large, but Oberyn kept his cool, trying not to gawk at everyone he saw. It was a beautiful city, though he wished he could enjoy it within barbarians breathing down his neck.

He had lied about being a messenger from Conqueror Vishal. Vishal was a coward, a man who had locked himself away during the Abandonment and let his people suffer. Then when he unlocked his castle doors two weeks after the world fell apart, word began to spread that he had defeated a whole army single handedly. One day Oberyn would make the Vishal pay for abandoning his people while maintaining the throne, but that was a mission for another time.

Vishal was too prideful to deny that he sent a messenger, to do so would show another royal that he had slipped up, and Oberyn knew the Conqueror would never admit that openly. Pride was the most easy flaw to manipulate. That's what Oberyn's father had always said.

~The wagon moves steadily towards the courtyard as we pass under the large castle gates. An entire arsenal of Nature Guard await in the middle of the castle with a dozen watchmen overhead. Whispers arise at the sight of Oberyn surrounded by the barbarians.~

[whispers from the guard fill the air]

Lork: "Troops, HOLD!"

~The wagon stops moving as the 40 savages freeze in place and sheath their weapons.~

Dahna: "Come now" *extends hand to me*

Me: *takes her hand and steps down as I look around at the beautiful castle*

Arch-Guard: *rides up* "Hello, lass. I am sir Latvitz of the Nature Guard. I will be your personal protector and provider for your stay."

Me: "I'm a bit curious sir....why all this protecting? I'm just here for bandit profiling.."

Latvitz: ".....while that may be true, the Conqueror and the people of Nature City need you for yet another cause. You will be briefed accordingly in the castle in the morning, For now, you will be escorted to the royal chambers of the castle where food and suppletries await." *grins*

Me: "...right....."

Latvitz: "And you" *trots over to Oberyn* "If you truly seek council with sir Albert, you will have to wait until the morning as well. Perhaps the Ground District will house you? There's a small inn across from the bar & tavern."

Lork: "So...about our pay?"

Latvitz: "Of course, Lork. As agreed, we have gave you and your entire party access to the mansion in the Green District for two days. Food and royalties included."

~All of the barbarians nod with huge grins and smiles. Lork, Rargus, and Dahna cover their smirks with looks of seriousness.~

Lork: "Very Well." *faces Oberyn* "Don't skip town...you'll have your 'meeting' " *walks away*

Rargus: "BARBARIANS!!!!! MOVE OUT!"

[AWHOO!!!!!]

~The barbarians move in unison as they exit the castle walls~

Latvitz: *to Oberyn* "You are relieved as well, outsider. Come lady Miracle, your chambers await."

Me: *walks slowly past Oberyn, staring at him with curiousity*
