SYNOPSIS.

PEACE IS NO LONGER.

for centuries, the goddesses of light and of dark have been at war in the mortal realm, otherwise known as faelorr. hundreds of thousands of years ago, the goddess of light and ruler of the divine realm, lyari, rallied hundreds of troops and minor dieties in order to defeat the evil goddess of darkness and ruler of the underworld, thalanil. after several harrowing decades of fighting, the goddess lyari finally had the strength and upper hand to lock goddess thalanil in the abyss, otherwise known as the underworld, where she was never to be seen again... supposedly.

but finally, the world began to prosper. goddess lyari generously blessed those who courageously assisted her in the war with magic and wealth. and those who had supported the side of thalanil? tired of fighting, she too opened her arms to the former supporters of goddess thalanil and won the hearts of many with her compassion and generosity. when the time came to be, goddess lyari returned to the divine realm, otherwise known as the aether, where she could oversee the world and continue to gift her blessings to her loyal followers.

though, loyalty is not so easily earned and sympathy has its pitfalls. of course, not every supporter of thalanil was so quick to reverse sides, whether due to their own devotion or a fear of goddess thalanil's wrath should she escape her abyssal prison. lurking in the shadows are generations of thalanil's original supporters who've festered and grown in numbers even without thalanil's aid. among them is the feared thanadyne, an extremist cult worshipping goddess thalanil and her inevitable reawakening. and it seems like this time, they aren't joking.

having been locked in the abyss for centuries, thalanil has had more than enough time to develop and enhance her power. with the assistance of the thanadyne cultists and minor dieties, she was finally released from the abyss and entered the aether with a vengeance.

the battle of light and dark occurred again, but this time the results were grim. unprepared to fight such an immense battle against thalanil, lyari knew she had to make a last ditch effort. with what power of hers remained, the goddess lyari fragmented her soul into eight divine instruments and scattered them across the lands of faelorr.

now, goddess thalanil rests in the aether in a weakened state. it is said that gathering the divine instruments in faelorr will rebuild the soul of lyari, who will open the gates to the aether to subsequently defeat thalanil. as such, adventurers are summoned by the lyonic guild to locate and collect the divine instruments. however, the adventurers aren't the only ones looking for these instruments. the thanadyne seek the divine instruments as well in order to destroy them and ensure the recovery of thalanil's health.

it's a race against time... but will the adventurers win?

THE WORLD OF FAELORR.
ypekxNH.jpg
faelorr, otherwise known as the mortal world or the mortal plane, is where all non-dieties, including the player, reside. faelorr is the space in between the underworld (the abyss) and the divine realm (the aether). faelorr is separated into six different continents with a myriad of bustling cities, smaller villages, and breathtaking landscapes in between. diverse cultures are seen all throughout the territories of faelorr. no continent is quite like another. it is suggested that there are eight divine instruments scattered across the lands of faelorr, however their exact locations are unknown. due to observations of unusually high magic patterns conducted by magical scientists, it is thought that there is at least one divine instrument on each of the continents.

RACES OF FAELORR.
tumblr_pqzvmhEtZi1vvfsp9o1_540.gif
there exists six different races in the world of faelorr. players are able to pick one during the build your character phase of aether online and after selection, race CANNOT be changed. features of a designated race are purely cosmetic. certain stats may grant stat bonuses and reductions. however, do not let the latter deter you! items can be consumed to increase poor stats permanently.

HUMAN.
let’s be real. you’re boring. nothing about you is relatively special. you have normal ears, normal eyes, normal everything. out of all the options you had, why did you even pick this race? oh well. one good thing is that you’re so unremarkable that nobody really cares to pay any special attention to you. maybe that’s a good thing if you don’t want to attract attention so easily. people treat you pretty neutrally, whether it be npc or other players. balanced stats. no gains or losses.

ELVEN.
you have some pointier ears than normal and hair that could rival someone in a l’oréal commercial, but what does that help? some say that elves might have a higher affinity for magic, but that's actually unconfirmed. in reality, the majority of elves are just unfortunately forced down a path of magic due to stereotypes that are not so easily broken. often, elves have high ranks in societies throughout faelorr, so you’ll typically be respected by npcs as an elf. + speed stat growth, - physical defense stat growth.

DEMIBEAST.
you’re a humanoid with an animalistic feature, whether it be snake eyes, cat ears, a fox tail, or something else. whatever your heart reasonably desires, perhaps the game will let you follow your dreams. these animalistic attributes are mostly cosmetic, but some believe that you might have keener senses. in reality, it’s probably just some weird placebo effect. fellow players might assume you’re a furry or furry-adjacent. npcs probably think you’re cute, so you'll still be a winner. + magical defense stat growth, - magic stat growth.

FIEND.
the race made for the average edgelord. fiends have demonic horns sprouting from their head. it is thought that some fiends are more resistant to immense heat, but maybe you’re just peer pressured to act like that as a being from hell. originally, fiends were allied with the goddess of darkness thalanil, but so many centuries have passed that nobody really gives a damn anymore. or well, that’s how it was until a week ago. now, you might have the occasional npc give you a suspicious side eye because of the dark goddess’s reawakening. + attack stat growth, - speed stat growth.

FAERIE.
finally you can live up to the name of being a manic pixie dream girl. faeries don’t look so different from the average human besides the small, somewhat translucent, not functional wings they have on their back/behind their ears. back wings can flap, but they can't lift up your body weight. faeries are beings of nature and as such, they feel peaceful outdoors which is great for a game where you’re touching grass 80% of the time. npcs in the city might be surprised to see you because they thought your kind lived in a cave or quite literally underneath a rock, but they mean well. + magic stat growth, - attack stat growth.

MEKARI.
you look human. mostly. you’re still not completely human so at least you get some bonus points. the mekari are a race of modified humans with magically enhanced technology implanted into their system. but just like every race, this “magical enhancement” is a complete fraud because you’re not so different from other people besides a mechanical arm or whatever you chose. however, you might feel that you don’t get as exhausted as easily as other people. some npcs might eye you suspiciously, kind of like they want to jump you and pawn all your mechanical parts. + physical defense stat growth, - magical defense stat growth.
