Acronym Questions

I recognize most of the Acronyms on this site (RPG, OCC, IC, etc), but I don't know what OC means.    Does it mean original character?  Something else?

So it is used for Original Characters in Fandom RPGs?   Like if you are playing in a Harry Potter RPG, you will be playing a character of your own creation instead of one of the book characters?

If the role play is a Harry Potter one and mentions that you need an OC, then yes, it would mean you make an original character for the world of Harry Potter. But it also is used when you make your own role play from scratch with your own world and all that.

Original character can be fandom or non-fandom.  Just means character you made yourself.  ANY character you made yourself.  An RP full of OCs can still use the term OCs.

Sometimes when it comes to original characters in regards to fandoms they can also be called Fandom Characters since they are created to fit into a fandom universe.  Though perhaps that trend had faded...

I guess I have only played in Non-Fandom RPGs, so an "Original Character" is default.

Thanks for the help! :)
