  • Academy City is a landlocked sovereign city-state whose territory consists of a walled enclave within the Tokyo Metropolitan Employment Area. As the city's name suggests, it is a city of several schools and institutions of higher learning from kindergarten to university level that learn side-by-side along with the scientists who research on psychic powers and higher technology, the latter being one of the primary reasons for its establishment. It is the most advanced city in the world and its technology is said to be 30 years ahead of the world.

Kaede Kaede stopped in his tracks when he spotted Tsubame from afar, looking lively as usual as she happily chatted away with her friends. No sooner than he had spotted then, the group of school girls seemed to bid each other farewell as they dispersed.

"Oi," he called out then, hoping to get Tsubame's attention as he approached her with wide strides, "I could hear your laugh from miles away."

Tsubame She spun around only to come face to face with none other than Kaede, the boy who could sent her heart flying out her chest, and as of yesterday, her boyfriend. Immediately, a bashful smile lit up her face and she laughed that same laugh he had called her out on. To make up for her lack of words, she leaned in for a hug and at the same time took the chance to lace her fingers with his.

"Hi," she said simply, "How were classes?" They must be much harder, after all, he was a Level 4 Esper. She was only a Level 2.

Kaede He wrapped his arms around her briefly, kissing her hair before letting go and shrugging at her question.

"Eh," he responded succinctly, then after a pause decided to explain himself, "Class was just the usual, would've skipped had it not been for the metal guy." Kaede clicked his tongue in annoyance, "He's such a prick, thinking he has authority over everyone just because he's the disciplinary committee chair." Catching himself, he heaved a sigh. Never mind that, Kaede had better things to do than complain about a guy who always seemed to have a stick shoved up his ass.

"So Tsubame...How about a coffee date?" It'd be a nice change of pace, needless to say.

Tsubame The look she gave him was akin to that of a deer caught in headlights. "A-A date!?" As if it was the last thing in the world that she'd expected. "Uh! Yeah, a date. Yeah, sounds fantastic," she blabbered, because it had been such an unexpected yet expected offer. In the two years that she had known Kaede, he had changed a lot. When she first met him, he was the dictionary definition of self-centered and had she began to date him then, she would've had to initiate everything and anything.

But this was the present, and she'd known and kept up with his character development. The primary reason she dared to ask him for a serious relationship in the first place was because he'd changed for the better, ultimately making her fall in love with him. She didn't want to take all the credit, but she couldn't help but believe that a lot of it was thanks to her, not that he'd ever admit it so she supposed it wasn't something she'd ever find out.

"Let's go?" She prompted and pulled him along with their linked hands to a nearby coffee shop.

Event: A classified project file is stolen from one of Academy City's research facilities.

Tatsuya He'd been sitting in his office as the Student Council President, dealing with paperwork when a fellow member of the Council burst in, wheezing. "How can I help you?" He asked, in that ever calm tone of his. Fortunately it seemed to have an effect on the other boy as he straightened out his clothes and tried again at a good impression, "Jumonji Tatsuya, Level 5 Esper, please assist us in retrieving a very important document from the hands of a bandit."

"Alright," he agreed easily, he could take a break anyways, "I hope you have a lead, you know how my ability works." The more specific the details of his instructions were, the more smoothly his ability would carry itself out.

Yukio He was sure Tatsuya had used his ability and manipulated probability again because what were the chances he'd run into the very crook he'd been informed of five minutes ago? It still irked him though, to think that he had to abandon another group of hooligans to go after this one. Pulling together his concentration, he flung a string of wire he carries around with him everywhere, missing the first time because the other guy had used his own power to deflect it. The second time though, the wire successfully coiled around the man. That's when he saw no other than Tatsuya there.

"You prick," he called out to the Student Council President, "Stop making me do your work." He begrudgingly handed over the briefcase, scowling at the fact that he didn't even get to know what he was working for because it was confidential material as Tatsuya always told him.

Tatsuya A chuckle escaped his throat as he was handed over the stolen material. "You're the disciplinary committee chair, this is your work," he countered playfully, knowing fully well that the other had a million other things to attend to. But what could he do? He loved playing with fire. Never mind that though, he was surprised to see that Yukio hadn't raised the question of what was in the briefcase yet.

It was no fun if he gave up so easily. "Yukio," he called, lifting the case by its handle to direct his attention over to the object, "I'll give you a clue if you free up your schedule for the day. You need a break anyways."

Yukio Of course, he'd play at Yukio's undying curiosity knowing fully well that no wasn't an answer to begin with. He'd known Tatsuya since grade school, he should at least recognize that much of his personality. The student council president was never one to simply play along or go with the flow. No, he was the one who controlled the situation and lead the crowd.

"I don't have an option anyways do I?" He replied with a dejected sigh. Once upon a time he didn't mind Tatsuya too much, even enjoying his company to a certain degree. But now, well, it felt like the other was holding too much in and letting nothing out. It bothered Yukio quite a lot, but he knew that if he voiced his thoughts, Tatsuya would simply deny it with a laugh.

"So what's in the briefcase?"
