Making America Great Again.
The Yhardel family is a well renown and yet infamous family among the Velkian Empire and their direct allies. The wealthiest family that resided within the Empire's borders they were always secretive about how they came about their fortune. Of course, the Yhardel family had an Estate! A large, gulping Estate lorded over by an illustrious Manor that was seated on the top of a cliff overlooking the Sea of Ghosts. It was just when Gren Yhardel, the Father of the Yhardel fortune and family was at his most powerful that tragedy struck and Ruin had come to the Family.

This venerable Manor, opulent and Imperial, gazing proudly from it's stoic perch above the moor. The Yhardel's lived all their years in that ancient, rumor shadowed Manor, fattened by decadence and luxury and yet, they began to tire of conventional extravagance. Singular unsettling tales suggested that the mansion itself was a gateway to some fabulous and unnameable power. With relic and ritual, Gren Yhardel bent every effort towards the excavation and recovery of those long buried secrets, exhausting what remained of the Family Fortune on... swarthy workmen and sturdy shovels. At last, in the salt soaked crags beneath the lowest foundations they unearthed that damnable portal of antediluvian evil.

The reports are scattered, confused, no one, not even the Velkian guard seem to be sure what happened in the following months after Gren Yhardel announced that he had found some sort of gate beneath his manor. The Estate went silent, no one entered and no one left for many, many, months until finally a singular man emerged from the rusted gateway that fenced the Estate off from the rest of the wilderness. The man was non-other than Gren Yhardel himself, his clothes ragged, his face worn and tired, his eyes holding a specific madness to them. He journeyed to the city of Gero Saor, a large trading hub in the Velkian Empire and began recruiting mercenaries, heroes, and adventurers, claiming his house was besieged by bandits and they robbed him of his fortune. Promising payment in the form of insurmountable loot, Gren Yhardel had his band of heroes. You are one of those heroes.

It winds with a troubling, serpent-like suggestion through the corrupted countryside, leading only, I fear, to ever more tenebrous places. There is a sickness in the ancient, pitted cobbles of the old road, and on its writhing path, you'll face viciousness, violence and perhaps, other damnably transcendent terrors. So, steel yourself, and remember, there can be no bravery without madness. The old road will take you to hell, but, in that gaping abyss, the Yhardel's can find their redemption.

Your party now rests, having travelled a full day along the old road, you are surrounded by decaying trees and moss covered rocks. The corrupted landscape is eerie against the backdrop of the setting sun and the campfires being sparked. You got thus far by carriage, driven by Gren Yhardel who seems distant and avoids eye contact or even speaking to you and your party. Something doesn't seem right but you're already this far and you know of the Yhardel's fortune. Even if he can't pay you, the loot you can bring from capturing his estate would be invaluable. (Your first post should briefly describe your character, give them an intro and explain what they do now that a camp is being set up.)
