i usually do Canon x OC, or OC x OC, occasionally group roleplays (which I typically host on discord) canon x canon isnt within my domain unless its a ship i like (which is far and few)

I was heavily invested in my characters, and wanted to use them. Also, playing pretend in my early years as intricate characters with personalities probably played a part.

Haha, so you started with LARP. I myself did but also orienting between LARP and Tabletop with D&D. It's great you were heavily invested with your characters. The list of OC's you have is great as well.
