hello!! sorry this isn't all fancy and the like, but i have an idea for a stardew valley inspired group. i actually tried this on an old site i was on, but that site's shut down now so it never really went anywhere. anyways, we would all make silly little guys who live in a small town out in the middle of nowhere - whether or not your character grew up there or recently moved in from the city would be up to you.

i, myself, would be playing various little npcs who live in the town. i already have all the npcs and the different areas of town and such typed up, so it would just be a matter of making it look all nice and polished for the public :]

fam. FAM. this sounds adorable. I am 100% in. please elaborate further 👀

so this is a town that i created a few years ago for an rpg on quotev that never got off the ground. i still have the descriptions of my npcs and everything !!
here's the town description:
Melody Hill is a self-sufficient farming town with a steady population hovering between twenty and forty residents. Though small in numbers, the town holds dominion over a wide stretch of fertile land flanking both the northern and southern sides of the highway that skirts its edge. It operates like a quiet outpost tucked into the countryside - unassuming, but deeply rooted.

The town’s agricultural backbone is diverse, producing a broad range of temperate crops like potatoes, carrots, lettuce, apples, and grains. Each resident typically focuses on cultivating a specific crop, developing a level of expertise and consistency that benefits the whole community. Yet, there's an unspoken rule - everyone in Melody Hill knows how to get by on their own. They grow, preserve, and trade what they need, rarely relying on outsiders.

In the last decade, a few greenhouses have popped up, scattered among the fields like glassy oddities. These have enabled experiments with tropical crops- bananas, pineapples, even small-batch coffee - though the results are mixed and still seen by many locals as impractical curiosities.

Melody Hill carries a quiet calm. It’s older than memory. The current mayor, born and raised in the town, often jokes that he inherited the job the way someone might inherit a weathered tool - passed down through generations without much ceremony. According to him, even the mayors who came before couldn’t say when the town was founded. There are no archives, no grand signs, just a long line of people living off the land and keeping to themselves. The town’s history lives in the soil, in the crop cycles, in the rhythms passed from hand to hand.

likely on site; i am running out of discord server space jfhfh

totally interested as long as being in europe doesn't create a timezone issue lol

can you elaborate on what you mean by "what type"? (<- guy who just woke up lmao)
love stardew valley. what type of rp will this be?

I have some questions

-Do all 40 residents farm? Are there examples of residents that have a role that isn't farming? Like a carpenter who just accepts crops for work?
-Are all the people in the town directly opposed to modernization, or just indifferent? (Also, coffee beans being seen as an oddity is really funny to me for some reason)
-Is there an overarching plot or is this just a sort of 'silly little day-to-day' thing? Not that it matters- I'm down for both

This is such a cute idea! Definitely would love to partecipate (and also create a character that would fit well into this world! It's definitely gonna be fun)

- not all the residents farm. in fact, of my fifteen npcs, only about four of them are farmer (about four i say because one of those npcs is just a child who lives on a farm). you've made me realize that i created a blacksmith npc but not a carpenter npc......
- not everyone is; it's mostly the older residents who lean that way. a lot of other people can see the benefits it would bring or just don't care. (i thought it was a little silly yknow)
- mostly just a silly little day-to-day slice of life, but i can try to cook up an overarching plot! i'm going to be running this like ur all little guys in a farming rpg, so i will be creating quests and such for your characters to complete if yall want.

This'll be goated

Wait so it would be reasonable to assume most of the characters we'd make would know each other if the town is so small?

OR is it gonna be like stardew valley where our characters are newcomers?

you'll have the option to either create a resident or a newcomer! i've made different character sheets for each :]
