Secretly an Alien, Shhh
✺ Tonk'peh qom'i! ✺
I apologize for the graphic nature of that gif, but our boys are just like that sometimes.
Okay, so I already have a mass search thread up here and will eventually be adding all my fandoms and pairings to the list, but my OTP needs a bit of loving and I have a couple scenarios that I’ve been DYING to play. One is based in TOS characterization while the other is AOS. And the third can go either way.
Before I get into the ideas:
- That link above? Please check it for my habits and requirements. Or, click this one!
- For "House of Sarek," I want to play Spock. For "No-Win Scenario" and "Little Things," I want to play Jim. If this doesn't suit your preferences, follow the instructions in the last bullet.
- There is the potential for a side of femslash rarepair in the TOS plot. (And I mean... Uber-rarepair. I'm not sure anyone ships it but me.)
- Be willing to play other characters during interactions. We’re pretty much sharing recurring characters based on who is interacting with whom at whatever given point.
- I know this was on the other page, but I would like to reiterate that I do not do sexual content. This is not up for debate.
- My standards are somehwat lower for these RPs. Two to four paragraphs, maybe just one here and there... I want these to be casual and fun and indulgent.
- Interested in a Spirk RP but not interested in the available plots? PM me and we’ll see what we can come up with! (:
The ideas:
Note that I’m involving both Sybok and Michael in this. (Yes, this is an AU where Sybok was raised by Sarek and Amanda. For the intents of this RP, T’Rea died in childbirth and Sarek and Amanda met and bonded while Sybok was young.)
After being rescued from Tarsus IV, a young James Kirk (bumping it to 14 or 16 and making Spock only two years older than him) is sent to live with his mother’s friend and her family on Vulcan while his parents are still in deep space. The doctors concede that the relative calm of Vulcan society might assist him in his recovery.
They don’t count on the absolute chaos that is the House of Sarek.
You have an overbearing Vulcan father who doesn’t know how to express his fondness of his children, an empathic Vulcan son who has long-since embraced his emotions, a Terran daughter who yearns for her father’s love and approval, and a hybrid son who is struggling with finding a balance between the cool logic of his father’s people and the blatant emotionalism of his mother’s. The only thing that keeps the family stable and sane is the Lady Amanda Grayson, the ultra-intelligent, ultra-loving mother who just wants the best for all of them, including her new surrogate son.
In no time, Jim is swept up in family drama as he assimilates to life on Vulcan, attempting to heal both mentally and physically from the trying experiences of Tarsus. (And isn’t that an understatement?) His family expands unintentionally, and he quickly attaches himself to the hybrid son, Spock, who is closest to him in age and has a gentleness about him that the brash Sybok and controlled Michael seem to lack. They bond over common interests, and despite the kindness and care of Lady Amanda, Spock becomes his rock.
Ideally, this would take place over a couple of years. I want this to explore not only Jim and Spock’s relationship, but that between Spock’s wonderfully dysfunctional family of geniuses.
ALSO! I would love to have a Michael/T’Pring side-pairing, as it has inexplicably become a hardcore rarepair for me. (Fanon T'Pring, not canon T'Pring.) We can actually play them if you’d like, or if you’re not up for doubling, have their relationship be a thing that’s developing in the background. (For reference: for this RP, T’Pring and Spock agreed to break their betrothal bond after T’Pring called him out on the fact that he isn’t attracted to women. The two are on decent terms and have a friendship based on snark.)
In terms of ages: Sybok is seven years older than Spock, Michael is four years older than Spock, and Jim is two years younger than Spock. If Sam Kirk comes up, I want to place him at seven years older than Jim.

Spock Prime came through within days of Nero’s ship, and worked in conjunction with Starfleet to take the rogue Romulan and his crew into custody. Sadly, he was not in time to prevent the Kelvin Disaster, the death of George Kirk, and the alteration of James Kirk’s history and development. Illogically feeling as though he failed his t’hy’la, he allowed the Time and Dimensional Anomalies Division to assist him with his relocation to Vulcan and integration with his counterpart’s clan. Earth was simply too much for him to bear. And his life on Vulcan had the added bonus that he could help bridge the gap between his counterpart and his father.
Fast forward a couple of years to the academic dishonesty hearing. With no emergency to interrupt to proceedings, and with the board headed by admirals loathe to oppose the son of a respected ambassador (an ambassador who actually supports his son's entering Starfleet, albeit with slight reluctance), Jim Kirk is expelled and a couple more lines are added to his record. Feeling betrayed, he leaves the city that night without saying goodbye to anyone, not trusting himself to not do something that he’ll regret in light. His life becomes a struggle, as people are loathe to employ a man expelled from Starfleet Academy, a man who they apparently deemed a threat, a man who is a disappointment to his hero of a father.
It’s fine. It’s all fine. It’s not like he never expected it to end this way.
Meanwhile, Spock and the graduating crew receive their assignments on the Enterprise under Captain Pike and Number One for its three-year maiden voyage. Pike clearly holds some resentment toward the young science officer, but tries not to let it show, as he’s certain Spock will come to regret what he has done in his own time. After all, he’s still fond of the kid, even if he got Pike’s other protégé in trouble. And hell… Jim wasn’t sure about Starfleet in the first place. Maybe this was supposed to happen.
Our story starts when the Enterprise crew returns to much media hype. Jim had been avoiding the San Francisco area and living a nomadic lifestyle since his expulsion, but the draw of seeing his friends and classmates returning home is too much to resist. Feebly disguised, he watches the welcome home ceremony from a distance, figuring that enough time had passed that no one would recognize him anyway.
Damn Vulcans and their damn memories.
Spock takes notice of the young man lurking in the shadows, watching from afar with strange interest. Something about him seems familiar, but he can’t quite put his finger on it… Eventually, his curiosity gets the better of him and he follows the man as he turns to leave. When Jim turns to confront him, sensing that he’s being followed but not knowing by whom, Spock’s too stunned to stop the young man from running away.
Still, the bedraggled image of the once over-confident cadet is too much. It feels wrong, somehow, to see Jim like this. Not knowing what else to do, he hopes to find him again. But he never would have if Jim’s curiosity wasn’t enough to keep him near the campus. Spock notices him a couple times, wondering if he’s trying to locate his friends or something else. Eventually, he manages to corner Jim and realizes the extent of what he has done. And it kills him.
Spock resolves to make things right by helping Jim get his life back on track, seeing as he’s grounded and back to teaching at the Academy until the Enterprise heads out again in a couple years. But even once he convinces Jim to share his apartment, the man is loathe to take anything from him, seeming to be wrapped up in self-hatred and once again angry at the world.
This story follows the boys’ attempts to deal with some of their personal issues with a side of Spock trying to right his wrongs and Jim attempting to find a way to make something of himself.
It will likely feature the usual characters in addition to Number One (Pike’s female first officer from the rejected pilot of TOS) and the awesomely not-dead Amanda Grayson. As stated above, most side characters will be shared, but it’s likely that if one of us has a voice for a certain character in particular, that person might portray them with more frequency.
Also, Spock Prime certainly exists in the background here, in seclusion on Vulcan. T’Pau, Sarek, Amanda, and the Vulcan Elders know who he is. AOS!Spock does not. They are acquainted, as Spock Prime is a member of his family and is openly half-human, but Spock does not know that he is not from this universe. Also, Spock Prime will be using the name Selek for obvious reasons. (Note: I deliberately put Selek in a position where he’s there if we need him but not in the way of things. I also have an idea for a sequel where Kirk Prime is rescued from the Nexus and they’re reunited and we have double the Spirk… But that’s for another time.)

While playing diplomat on a newly-approved planet on the Federation’s behalf, one of the planet’s queens takes a liking to Jim. (Within this species, all individuals are “female.”) As per her culture, she offers Jim her “blessing,” which he accepts with a smile. She gains the attention of onlookers, announces her intent, and recites the blessing while offering the man a special drink. The party continues, and they return to the ship soon thereafter
A couple months later – blessing all but forgotten – Jim takes ill and is promptly dragged to sickbay. The source of his illness isn’t something that anyone expected, and the nature of the queen’s “blessing” becomes clear.
He’s pregnant.
Yeah. Only James Tiberius Kirk could get himself in these situations.
Despite there being other options available, Jim makes the decision to carry the child full-term and to raise it himself. He doesn’t revel in the prospect of being a single father, but knows that his personal issues make the chances for him raising the child with a wife or husband extremely slim. This conviction, mixed with a desire for a family and to have someone who will need him, will give him the strength he needs.
Or so he hopes.
To Jim’s surprise, Spock is extremely concerned about him during his pregnancy, far more open than he was before. Torn between anger at being treated like a borderline invalid and joy at the positive attention, he eventually just decides to enjoy it while it lasts.
And considering how quickly things come to a head on both ends of this lovely little pine-fest, it’s going to last a lifetime and beyond.
~
So. Basically as part of an alien culture, queens are permitted to “bless” any who will accept as a means to ensure that their mark is left on the universe. The children tend to take more after their birth parent and are raised by the birth parent. The queens only ever have anything to do with the children that are borne by their official Consort. Is it realistic to get impregnated from a potion and a few choice words? Not really, but this is the Star Trek universe. Shit like this happens all the time. (Jim passionately reciting the Constitution on a planet identical to Earth, anyone?)
(That in mind, you don’t need to know much of anything about pregnancy, because I don’t either. This story is only really catalyzed by the pregnancy, and it gives the boys a chance to raise a child when we get that far which is my favorite thing EVER.)
So Jim gets unexpectedly pregnant, decides to keep the kid, blah blah blah. Basically, I want this unborn baby to be the catalyst that forces the boys to get their heads out of their pla’kruslar. I want Spock’s overprotective nature DOUBLED, I want Jim’s boneheaded recklessness DOUBLED, and I want them both to deal with their issues with the help of the other while Bones mutters in the background that it’s about time before going to collect his winnings from the betting pool that totally wasn’t Sulu’s idea. (No, really: it was Chekov’s.) I want this to be a story about confronting personal issues and falling in love. We can design more subplots together.
ALSO: We can do TOS characterization or AOS characterization. HOWEVER if we’re doing AOS, we’re playing it as though Pike never died because his death was poorly executed and as though Amanda never died because YOU DON’T KILL AMANDA GRAYSON WTF.
