Grey sighed. He was just having bad luck this week- nothing seemed to be going right. His ears twitched as he picked up the noise of somebody talking, who he first assumed to be someone he knew. Dismayed at his discovery that this person was not, in fact, his friend, he looked down and sighed again.
Akira sighed, looking around. There where so many people around. She felt her teeth grow sharper as she tried slipping away from the crowds. She was not going to hurt anyone anymore.
Grey, who had been absently looking around, noticed someone- they looked like a girl- trying to get out of a crowded patch of people. Always the curious one, he stood up to go after her.
He pushed through the crowds until he finally caught up to her, slightly out of breath. He attempted to tap her on the back to get her attention. "Hey! Miss!" He said, a little louder than he meant to. "Where are you going?"
He lost his balance and fell over, watching dismally as the pretty girl ran away in the other direction. Did I do something wrong? he asked himself, but shook it out of his head. Either way, he couldn't just leave after that event- there was a chance she was in trouble, and he'd feel terrible if something bad happened to her.
"Hey! Wait up!" he gasped, quickly getting back on his feet to chase after her.
He paused. He hadn't barely ever went into forests- much less ran in them. He looked around and perked up his ears to listen. He'd completely lost track of her. Straining his hearing, he heard footsteps coming from the undergrowth. That's her, I know it! he thought excitedly. He was about to run to where he had heard the noise but then realized something.
He knew that if he tried to chase after her he'd easily get hurt. The only choice was to enter the forest at a slow walk, giving her a great advantage. Suddenly, stepping down, there was nothing below him- he fell into a ditch, screaming pathetically. His nervous side began to show as he realized there was no way out of this- he couldn't climb up the walls of the hole- the soft dirt would break away too easily, and he could fall again, possibly injuring himself more than he already had.
Akira felt something behind her, a long ways behind her. She sighed, realizing she might have caused the pain. She started running towards the ditch she leaped over. She found it and peaked her head over the edge, looking down. Inside there was a man with dark hair and blue eyes. She realized that he must have fallen in and she poked her head a bit farther over. "A-are you ok?" She asked timidly.
He reached upwards to grab her hand. With her support, he climbed up to the edge of the ditch and pulled himself back up. Noticing her blush, he laughed a little.
"I guess you're as nice as you are fast. I don't know what I would've done if you hadn't helped me. Thank you." Brushing the dirt off of his clothes, he asked her a question. "Hey, what was going on back there anyway? I mean, why were you running?"
"I guess I probably didn't help much then..." He looked away, embarrassed. By drawing attention to her, he had probably made the whole thing a lot worse. "What do you mean, dangerous? You just seemed like you wanted to protect yourself, not hurt anybody. And besides, you helped me out of there- out of danger! Oh, sorry, I'm rambling again. I better just shut up, right?"
He laughed nervously. I can't believe I just kept yapping! Let the girl get a word in, Grey! he scolded himself in his head, but kept a smile on.
"I am dangerous." Akira said with a frown. She sighed, realizing she probably seemed like a lunatic. She couldn't tell him, or anyone. She just wanted to keep people at a safe distance form her. That's why she lived in a traditional house, alone. Because she hurt the rest of her family, and she didn't want it to happen again.
Upon hearing her response, he looked back at her, trying to hide his surprise. She looked upset. "Sorry. I was being insensitive- you know more about yourself than I do. I just..." He paused, searching for something the right words. "You seemed really... Nice. But if I'm just bothering you, I guess I should probably go. Good meeting you."
He got up, feeling defeated. He walked around the ditch and started to head out of the forest, not realizing that it was getting a little dark out.
Akira blushed a bit. "Thanks." She said, watching him leave. She sighed, letting her tails come out again. She sighed, twitching her ears. She sunk to the ground, her body shaking. She almost lost control in a crowd again. She sighed, looking at her palms. "How am I ever going to heal?" She wondered aloud.
What was up with that girl? He wondered, but decided to try and forget about it. However, as he traveled through the quickly darkening forest, he couldn't help but think about her. Being so absent-minded usually got him lost, but today he managed to get out of the forest unscathed except for the scratches and bruises from falling into the ditch.
Akira got up and walked towards the edge of the forest, finding her house easily. She slid open the door to her house, entering the forever quiet zone. She took of her shoes and walked towards her room, changing out of her uniform for her kimono she wears around the house. Her tails still floating behind her, she began dancing with a fan, a old dance that her mother had performed a long time ago, when she was alive.
When Grey woke up that morning, the girl from the night before was still on his mind. Shaking his head in an attempt to get her out of his thoughts, he sighed. What was up with that day, anyway? Everything happened so quickly. Struggling to remember it all correctly, he made himself some toast and sat down.
When he was done eating breakfast, he couldn't help but think about the forest as well. Why had she ran into there of all places? It was empty and all, but... his thoughts faded slowly as he decided to grab his messenger bag and go there.
When he got there, the forest was empty. He decided to sit down at the edge and wait for something to happen. Would she come back? Probably not, but a man can always dream!
Akira had gotten up early. She had already eaten breakfast and she was ready for school, but she decided to go for a run. She transformed, her tails coming out. She smiled and began running though the forest.
