Fandom A new Pokemon region

I am still in the early planning stages, but I wanted to get some feedback before I get too far. The working name for this region is Darigea. This new region isn't just new to you and me, but to the Pokemon League as well. You see, until recently, Darigea was a somewhat isolated region with very few cities and few serious Pokemon trainers. Though it is just west of the Johto region, passage between the two regions was extremely difficult.


Recently, Darigea has seen rapid growth, economically and in population. New towns were founded, and cities grew. Interest in Pokemon training followed suit. Many people from the Johto region began to recognize promising opportunities to make strong connections with Darigea. Businesses signed trade agreements, and there are plans for paving a new route to connect the regions together.


The Pokemon League has already implanted the Pokemon League Challenge in many regions across the world, and officials are planning to set up in Darigea as well. A major focus of this RP is the creation of Pokemon Gyms across Darigea, as well as hiring Gym Leaders to preside over them.


Evil forces are also recognizing the potential of forming a Darigean branch to their operations. Team Rocket is attempting a revival in Darigea, plotting world-domination schemes once more. This will be another major focus in this RP, as they stir up trouble throughout the region.


I'm thinking of centering the story around the trainers who are applying to become the new Gym Leaders of Darigea. The Pokemon League has devised a seriously challenging selection process to identify the best candidates for the job.

I am thinking that the Pokemon League will not take initiative on designing the gyms. They will make it the responsibility of each new gym leader to locate and to design it on their own, to suit their own battle strategy and personality. Of course, the rule will exist that there can be at most one gym per town/city.

I would love to have help setting up. I've already started fleshing out what the region might look like. Here is what I have so far:

I also started a document for brainstorming my ideas of how this might play out. An aspect that I haven't made much progress is in how Team Rocket will fit in to all this. What evil plan are they developing? I haven't gotten that far.

I don't really know my Kanto and Johto ((or Sinnoh for that matter)), so I'm just assuming the middle is Johto, and the right is Kanto.


You could also try using one of the other groups or making your own instead of using Team Rocket.

Your assumptions about the map are correct. The left shows Darigea. My only issue right now is that I made everything spread out a lot. I might tweak it later. I am definitely open to using a team other than Team Rocket. I just haven't brainstormed enough on that point to really know what I want them to do. If I can figure out what they want to do, then I can better decide which team I need to use ,or if I need to create my own.

I honestly think we should start talking in pms in if were gonna be going into the plot.


However, looking at the map, the path from johto to Darigea doesn't really look treacherous. Unless the moment you try to cross the river you get swept all the way out to sea.

I have finished a draft of how the Pokemon League will be conducting the application/selection process for hiring new Gym Leaders.


For those who might be interested, I have prepared a document that many of our characters will have come across by the time the roleplay starts. I've tried to make the application form to that of a character sheet. So basically after I accept your CS, then your character has already passed the application stage of the selection process. This is of course assuming that your character is an applicant. Not all characters in this RP have to be Gym Leader applicants.


Creating pdf documents will probably not be a recurring pattern in my planning stuff out. Though there is much anticipation to pass through the selection process put forth by the Pokemon League, the fun of this RP is in the adventure. All applicants will set off on a journey in a similar manner to our typical trainer in Kanto or Johto, with a big exception. There are no gym badges to earn, and no championship competition to win. But the Pokemon League has set up a system for these applicants that is still fairly similar.


The Pokemon League wants to ensure that all their gym leaders knows what's involved in training, traveling, and earning approval along the way. After having their written applications accepted, the applicants must travel the region of Darigea and obtaining the seal from many of the towns' mayors. Each mayor will devise their own challenge to pose to the applicants in order to earn the seal.


After obtaining the minimum number of seals, the so-far-successful applicants will compete in a series of battles against one another, to prove their battle strength and strategy.


I hope you'll agree that the system is pretty similar to what you would normally think of as a typical Pokemon trainer's adventure. I am attempting to incorporate evil organizations into the plot, so hopefully we can have very enjoyable stories to tell. But I will try to keep some details a secret.

In addition to the whole application process, I have now got some good ideas written out for other aspects of the plot. I hope they will make the RP more fun and interesting. But I will keep most of it a secret for now. The Pokemon League is having to deal with the threat of a Team Rocket revival, and our Gym Leader applicants are going to get in on a piece of the action. Let's just leave it at that for now.

You probably have more than enough but I'm a pretty creative person so if you need another opinion I don't mind helping.

I need to create a set of rules for the RP. Of course, I will include the rules I see in just about every RP out there. No over-powered characters. No metagaming. No powerplaying. Etc. Etc.


But I need a little more than that to make a smooth, successful Pokemon RP. For example, will I allow new species of Pokemon? This is a new region after all. I'm leaning towards making a rule that says "No new species of Pokemon allowed. You may encounter and/or possess any non-legendary pokemon found in the main series of pokemon games."


And then there are the rules that the Pokemon League will enforce on the Gym Leader applicants. Breaking these rules won't get you personally in trouble, but if your character gets caught in-game, he or she will have to accept the consequences of his or her actions.


I will post a draft of all the rules soon. In the meantime, if you have suggestions for rules, feel free to reply.

What do you guys think about Mega Evolution? The response I'm looking for is not "Mega Evo is totes awesome!! :3"


I mean, what sort of rule do I need in place to ensure that there is not too much of it going around? Mega Evolution is supposed to be a rare thing, right? Mega Stone, Key Stone, and a bond with your pokemon or something. Do I need to ban it outright, or just set a limit? And how would I define that limit? Can I simply say that each character may possess no more than one mega stone?

It's been a little while since I last kept y'all up to date on this. The idea is still alive. It's just that I've been ironing out details and rules that will hopefully keep the RP flowing smoothly. I'm somewhat interested in this as well. I was thinking of whatever that generally exists for pokemon is valid. Although mega stones were always said to be rare so I would support it to be only one per player and no repeated Mega stone. Possibly have them go through a trial in order to see if they are worthy of it?
