He felt a sense of comfort wash over him as he sat between his two adoptive parents. His mother's smile was warm and genuine whenever she glanced at him. Jack needn't be introduced; he was a regular at his mother's office. He also worked at an entirely separate office, viewing texts and chat logs of suspects or victims, or listening to calls that could be the last record of a person's voice. He had grown quite used to the shock of his labor, but he was always amazed at his mother's innocence. She had seen far worse than he had ever; she was the head DNA analyst in the sexual assault department. She had always worked diligently, not even stopping to grimace at whatever she came across. It had always amazed the boy.

Jack had noticed that he had been staring at the woman this whole time and tore his sight off of her. His vision moved to his father, who seemed out of place, but was comfortable. He was an ultrasound specialist; he saw the beginning of life while his spouse saw the breaking of a soul, or sometimes the end of life. His father was a playful man who had a common, but not overused smile. He had always made sure that Jack was alright at the end of a long workday. Both of the adults who sat beside him eagerly took him in three years prior and overwhelmed him with the warmth and happiness that a family was supposed to give him all those years. But he wouldn't take those years back; all those years with Tanner -

"Oh, honey, this is Mr. Capulet!" His mother chirped, springing up on her feet. "Officer Capulet," She called, beckoning him and his family over to their table with a swift arm motion. Jack had seen the man before. He had used much of the information that Jack had obtained in certain cases. He also worked closely with Jack's mother, as they were both one of the best at their careers. His sight drifted down the line of the people next to him to identify his family.

The only things that really mattered to Julianne were her family and charity. Which is precisely why she got dressed and went with them to the banquet. Truthfully, social situations made her nervous. Especially in Barcello. She'd grown up here, but she had never left. Her father rarely left, even as a politician. The town was ... was something different. Troubled.

It was almost Halloween, which meant crime was going to sky rocket. Halloween in Barcello meant Trick or Treating in daylight, and locking your doors extra tight at night. It meant Jackson would be out all night, and she'd be worried sick. It meant Jade would be out late, just to piss their parents off. Halloween scared the youngest Capulet.

"Julianne, snap out of it." Her mother squeezed her arm. "We're here."

The girl forced a smile as they entered the building, giving their coats to the coat check. Jackson offered his sister his arm and she accepted, offering him a smile. He knew she was anxious. That made her feel a little better, having his arm. It was only moments later that they were being called over by a woman Julianne recognized, but her name escaped the girl.

"Good evening, Mrs. King." Jackson greeted when the Capulets reached the table. "Have you met my family?" He introduced them each, ending with Julianne. "This little ray of sunshine is my sister, Julianne." Earned himself a swift elbow to the ribcage, with that.

His mother smiled and gave the girl a small, welcoming wave. "Hello Julianne; I've heard much about you," She stood up straight and motioned to the two men sitting beside her. "Well, Jackson, you know Jack, and this is Daniel, my husband. I think you have met once or twice before, actually," She said as her spouse backed up his seat to stand and offer his hand to Jackson. "I've seen him before when I visited your office," He agreed with a grin. Jack was watching the interaction with awe; his family had a charisma that he had not yet become accustomed to. Sure, he was quite a talker himself, but his parents had no trouble with finding the words to say - even if it was just small chatter.

"Oh, Julianne," His mother piped up. "My name is Heather - Heather King. And this is our son, Jack," She placed her hand on Jack's head. His parents were young - far too young to have had Jack. The family's past was quite obvious just by looking at the three. Jack smiled at the girl and stood up, raising his mother's hand with him. "It's very nice to meet you," He bowed his upper body just a bit, feeling Heather retract her arm. Jack turned his head to Jackson and bared his teeth in a grin. "Mr. C, you never told me that you had a beautiful sister conveniently my age," Heather let a laugh burst from her throat and she began waving the air in front of her, shaking her head. "I think he meant not to, honey," She sighed through her grin and looked at her colleague. "Oh, Jackson, watch your poor sister,Jack glanced back at Julianne with a small curve at the end of his lips and a warmth spreading over his cheekbones.

The blush spread across her cheeks quickly as she tried not to make a food of herself. Thankfully, her brother spoke first. "Behave yourself, Rosewood." He grinned as Julianne squeezed his arm. "My little sister here is a little shy."

He motioned for Jullianne to seat herself, pulling out a chair for her. Their parents had already wandered off to socialize. Not surprising, for the Capulets. Their father schmoozed his way around, securing votes in the upcoming elections, surely. "There's a big Halloween bash coming up at the college," Jackson started. "Are you going Jack?" He questioned, seating himself next to his sister.

The girl shot him a look, knowing where he was going with it. "I'm sure you'll be there, big brother." She spoke finally. "It doesn't take more than ten minutes for the cops to get called to one of the frat parties." She smiled, innocently. It was the truth though. They always ended with the police.

Except for the rare occasion they ended with a cult. Of course, that was only once, and it was long before Julianne was old enough to attend the parties. She propped her chin on her hand and gave a smile to Jack, "it's nice to meet you, by the way. What do you do for the department?"

She feigned interest in the job lives of those at the party for the sake of her brother. These were his colleagues and she would do her best not to embarrass him terribly.

Jack watched the siblings sit across from him and grinned at Julianne's reactions. He wasn't entirely sure if he were to go to the Halloween party. He had a lot of work piling up due to the holiday, but it wouldn't hurt to go with the excuse of "spying" on a person of interest (which meant, well, doing nothing of the sort and then returning to work with a boring report). His eyes focused back to the girl, and he straightened his back. He could already hear his mother chatting away about some court case to his father and other people who stopped by the table. "I'm a hacker," Jack grinned, dropping his hand to pinch the cloth next to his water glass. "I get into a suspect's account to see if there is anything to dig up for a trial ... or just to be a snitch and get information to warrant an arrest," He glanced at his fingers before looking at Jackson. "Officer Jay-Jay has used me many times," He winked at the man and bared his teeth again. Jack leaned back against his chair and rested a finger on the glass.

"Where do you work for?" His grin shrunk into a small smile and he tore his gaze from the officer to eye Julianne. "Surely you've played the damsel in distress before, being so stunning, no?" He raised his hand to his cheek, resting his head on two knuckles. He smirked, waiting for her brother to squirm.

Julianne smirked at her brother's nickname, but she was truthfully fascinated by his hacking. "That sounds really interesting. I've never met a hacker before." His next question made her laugh a little, especially at the reaction of her brother. "Th--"

"She's in college to be a psychologist." He answered quickly, cutting his younger sister off. It was always like this, Jackson was overprotective. Especially with boys. Despite having no real need for it. "A little brainiac, this one."

The girl pursed her lips and then smiled. "Oh, Jackson, look, there's your boss, you should go say hello." She shooed him away. "Is he this uptight at work, or is it just around me?" She giggled lightly. "Tell me more about your hacking. I've always been fascinated by things like that." Her hands folded into her lap.
