Plot:
Characters from all over the multiverse wake up in a rundown room at a motel. Last thing they remember, they were at home - wherever that is. Now, they're here.

How do they react?

They leave their room, and find theirs is one of many; dozens of others line alongside it, making a U around a pebbled courtyard. Others are leaving their own rooms, trudging through grimy doors with furrowed brows and questioning stares that tell them everyone's in the same boat here.

What do they say to them?

At the open end of the U is a smatter of bars, restaurants, diners and obnoxious gift shops with neon pink goods proclaiming Welcome to the Motel at the End of the Universe!!. Beyond them is nothing; a steep drop into an abyss.

They're stuck.

What next?

Necessary, But Kinda Rambly Info About Background & Tone:
So my holidays just started, so I've decided to use my free time and come back to RPN to revisit my old roleplaying years. And, at the risk of sounding like a grandma (no beef, grandmas; you're awesome), man oh man things have changed. Like, damn, I used to be able to come on here with their blocky old original coding, sign up to a fantasy high school roleplay and spend a few weeks writing some OP fire demon or something shitty like that. Y'know, the days where a secret password in the rules was a necessity and people would tag Anyone Anyone because there were no quotes. RPN has upped its game, and I love it don't get me wrong, but I still kinda miss those labels of Simple and Detailed, and the promises they made. So I'd love to make something that captures that old spirit of 'let's just make some characters and throw them at each other and see what happens', except hopefully with some better writing and characterisation.

Please make no mistake; I love roleplaying, and want to keep some level of order within this to keep it going for a good while. But at the same time, this will be very laid back, and honestly has no real plot or goal; just some people who love writing, writing characters they love, and seeing how they interact with different people and genres. There will be no obligations beyond the rules I set out below, and if it becomes a mess of threads and posts so be it, as long as everyone can follow their own characters. This isn't some massive responsibility; god knows I don't have the time for that. Just have fun.

Rules:
  1. Human characters only. Or, at least, characters with human or very slightly above human capabilities. Aliens, monsters, angels, they're all fine as long as they have no powers that would mean, say, Batman couldn't take them out with no prep. If you have doubts, run it by me, but this is really just to keep things somewhat balanced.
  2. Canon characters and universes only. If its a universe I'm familiar with, I might allow OCs, but run it by me first in DM.
  3. You need to be able to write. I'm not expecting published authors or anything, and I don't want any pressure on those who may not have much experience, but if you're here you're here because you love writing, and I want that to shine through your words, at the risk of sounding cheesy. Good grammar, good characterisation, and material for other writers to bounce off is a minimum. And, uh, lets say two paragraph minimum. It won't be strictly enforced, but if you're running around with an anime girl giving one line of dialogue or something, I'm gonna pull you up.
  4. Five character max. Talk to me about exceptions.
  5. I'm gonna start a discord, cause apparently that's the norm now. RIP OOC threads.
  6. There's no set max on members, but depending on how well this goes I may have to close it eventually.
  7. If I feel you're causing problems, I'll approach you. If you feel someone else is causing problems, approach me. I'm a pretty laid back person, but I've seen to many RP horror stories unfold before me to be caught off guard.
Taken Characters
Aelin (or) Manon (Throne of Glass)
Lando Calrissian (Star Wars)

I'll start setting things up if I garner some interest.

Seems interesting, and also have nothing better to do, so might as well.
