Realistic or Modern A Monster in All Of Us

Atsuko

Breathe
It was only an hour ago that his lips had touched hers.

Now she was lying before him, with a bullet hold pierced through her throat.

She had been the most beautiful and radiant creature he had ever seen.

But death had not only taken her...but her beauty as well.

Her body lay mangled on the cold cement.

The dark and nauseating scent of blood filled the night air.

Laughter of children and adults surrounded him, and Christmas carols screamed in his ear.

Her once shining eyes were dull, and her lips were parted slightly almost as if she was about kiss.

But instead of seductive whispers, crimson blood dripped down her chin.

A bad dream...

Only if he entire life was just a simple nightmare.

That he could...wake up from.

Footsteps echoed in the alleyway.

Angry soldier-like men shouted from all directions.

"Master....Master...Master....!!!"

The calls pounded into his brain, as he ran through the city's maze, as his black eyes darted around like a field mouse looking for the hawk.

Couples erotically kissed each other, beggars pitifully held out their empty cans, children ran around laughing in every corner.

Icy snow bit at his pale face, as his legs slowly grew entrapped in the thick snow in a forgotten alleyway.

No one was there.

No music...no laughter...no crying...no talking...just silence and the wind whistling by the worn down building.

He slowly walked down the dark pathway, embracing the tranquility.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

His eyes snapped wide open, the frosty air biting against his cheeks. 'Again...,' he groaned in his mind, as he stared at the empty park before him. He threw off his blanket of fall leaves, and stumbled onto his feet. The scent of blood suddenly intoxicated the air. "Curse this hyperosmia shit," he muttered, as his eyes watered. He slowly walked towards where the scent was coming from, his eyes darting around cautiously. Suddenly he felt a soft crunch beneath his foot. When he lifted his leg, his eyes were paralyzed by the horrifying sight before him.

A squirrel lay splayed out on the ground. A predator had already attacked it and left the remnants for the maggots to come and clean.

Blood stained its once beautiful fur, and its intestines were spilled out for the whole world to see. Small minuscule transparent creatures lay scattered around the body. His eyes widened as he realized that they were small squirrel fetuses. 'How sickening...,' he hissed in his mind, as he walked away from the murder scene. He scraped his foot along the cement ground, attempting to rub off the smashed bits of organs under his barefoot.

Cacien breathed out steam, as the frigid wind of dawn bit his face. He pulled up his hood, as he ran back home. The freezing dark apartment welcomed his presence. The cold floor iced his bruised, and bloodied bare feet, as he limped into the bathroom. The hot water soothed his wounds, and soon the once clear water turned into a murky brownish-reddish color.

After washing up, he lay down onto the untouched cold bed, silently wishing that Erika was there beside him. Maybe the house would have been warmer with her presence.

The air was frigid, a crispness that was only possible during the colder seasons. It burnt her face as she stepped out of her front door and into the silent morning. The sun had just begun to shine, barely enough to light the streets in a soft gray and no where close to warming the air. Her clothes were enough to pack in the heat that she had been collecting from indoors. Her thick red scarf, securely wrapped around her neck, fluttered softly as a late fall breeze swept by her. Leaves rustled along the gutters, filling some of the quietness as she set off in a direction only known to her.

To most she looked average, a girl heading off to do some sort of chore. Which was correct. Only, it wasn't the type of chore most women her age attended to. Rinko was not normal, or so her therapist had said before she had stopped going three years ago. Necromania. Or the obsession with death. He had said the word so many times, over and over. Like broke record. He was wrong, so very wrong. It was not death she loved. It was the killer... no.

He was her savior.

A Surgeon, and surgeon is a savior to the patient. A patient such as her, rescued by him in a moment when she needed it the most. She wanted to be close to him, her doctor.

It was for this reason that she was leaving so early in the morning. Getting up before the sun had risen to prepare herself after a night of listening into the police scanner she had illegally obtained through the internet. It had been an investment she hadn't thought she'd actually use until the fateful day that The Surgeon saved her. The police codes were simply enough to track down when she put her mind and body to the task. A few lustful favors to a dirty cop and he was more then willing to hand over his knowledge.

The spot she was headed to was a crime scene, a murder had occurred in the night. Though she wasn't sure if it was actually him, she had her suspicions and would in no way miss the opportunity to be closer to her love. To step where he stepped. To touch the body that had been taken from this world for the better of the people still here. They would be thanking him one day, even if they thought he was the devil itself. In truth, The Surgeon was the merciful lord of death. The judger of all that's good and bad.

He was a god in mortal form. Rinko loved such a cruel and beautiful god.

Erica shivered, feeling the cold attacking her even through her thick clothes. She tightened her woolen scarf around her neck and put her hands deep down in her pockets. She arranged her bangs to hide the scars on her face and began walking.

Winter was arriving too early. The trees were completely bare. The clouds were casting a shadow all around the place, so dark that it seemed like darkness was enveloping everything.

She smiled to herself. Cacien would've loved to see this. He loved the darkness. It was his specialty to love the dark and imperfect things. That's how he found me and saved her when she was thrown out on the streets by her own mother, cut and stabbed like she meant nothing more than a rag doll. And that was when he came. Her savior. He looked at her like she was a beautiful piece of art, even though she was too scarred to even resemble a small sophisticated drawing.

A ball stopped near her feet, making her stop in her foot tracks. She looked down at it and at the little chubby girl who was running towards her to get it. She picked up the ball.

"Can you give it to me?", the girl asked in a small voice, slightly smiling at her, making her cheeks puff up even more.

But Erica didn't pay attention to what she said. She was, instead, mesmerized by the little girl's face.

She knelt down to come to eye-level with the little girl and trailed her finger down the side of the latter's face. "So innocent, so pure...", she whispered, staring at her face as if in a trance. And then she dragged her finger across the child's forehead. "I wonder how more pretty you will look when you're sliced here...", she said, making the girl widen her eyes in fear, and then tapped her left cheek, "and here", her right cheek, "and here-"

"Mary, come back here!", the little girl's mother shouted from far away, feeling anxious and worried by Erica's behavior.

Erica then smiled at the little girl, handing her the ball. "The more scarred you look, the more beautiful you become."

[OOC: I will also act as the classmates. Just basically I will act like the extras in movies to enhance the story]

"Shh...she's coming," a girl hissed, as she peered out of the sliding door.

Student bustled around in the classroom, giggling to themselves.

"Poor Yuki, having to sit next to Shinigami. I bet twenty dollars that he is going to die in a week," a boy chuckled, as he placed a vase of flowers on the boy's desk. "It's best if we prepare ahead of time, right guys?"

"I bet fifty dollars that he is going to die in five days," another student sneered.

"I will pay for a class karaoke trip that he is going to drop dead tomorrow," a short haired girl snickered, as she wrote "DEATH GOD" in thick red sharpie.

"Honestly, I would kill her to protect myself, but who knows if she might come back alive...that witch."

"Didn't you guys hear that she lives with a guy? What a slut."

"Her mom's such a whore too. She dated five guys last month...it must run in the family."

"Why does she even come to school...no one wants her here."

"Hurry up, she's coming around the corner."

"The bell's going to ring in a couple seconds you guys..."

"GUY'S STOP. The teacher's also coming!"

The students ran to their desks, chuckling and murmuring among themselves as they watched the witch walk into the classroom.

(Whoa, those classmates are really witchy with a B :o )

Erika walked into her classroom, ignoring the stares. She was used to it by now.

Her desk was covered in scribbles, not made from her but her classmates. A new one had been added today. Death God, huh? They were surely creative.

Classes went on and she longed for them to end, her mind wandering to Cacien every few minutes. She didn't go for lunch because she didn't want to face anyone. Not because she was afraid of them, but because of what she might do if they angered her a lot. Cacien was the only one who could calm her down and since Cacien wasn't here, she needed to avoid those situations.

Although at times she doubted her humanity, it left her at peace when she saw people having the same type of wounds that she wore on her back to this day. The pain inflicted on them made her feel satisfied and disgusted at the same time. (Am I turning this character into a too psychotic person? :D )

But who can stop the Surgeon himself from doing such things?, she thought, smiling to herself. Although at times she doubted her humanity, it left her at peace when she saw people having the same type of wounds that she wore on her back to this day. The pain inflicted on them made her feel satisfied and disgusted at the same time. (Am I turning this character into a too psychotic person? :D )
{OOC: I originally had her as a rly innocent character. But I like this psycho twist your adding to her. It makes her far more important and interesting than I had made her in mine. Um, but I don't think she should know who Cacien is yet. Like I would enjoy watching the scene where she finds out that Cacien is the Surgeon and struggles to make a decision whether she should abandon or save him)

Is it fine now that I've deleted the part about the surgeon?
