A Glimpse in the Life of a Monster
... Monsters are everywhere. They're all around us, watching us, and occasionally eating people. But are monsters really that bad? Are they merely the victims of undesired urges that they cannot control? Do they have free will like us?
Derrick was a monster of the worst kind. He was an ogre, and ogre's were known for eating children. They gave horror in the imaginations of kids and grown-ups alike. They feed off of people's brains and deep-fry their genitals. They are the most unpleasant creatures in the world, worse than werewolves or vampires.
But this particular man was different. He didn't like eating children and he had no intentions of hurting anybody. He was, what one could call, a kind ogre. One day he was walking far away from home when he stumbled upon a peaceful village. The village had several huts and there were children running along. He saw that it was good. Perhaps, he thought, these were kind humans. Perhaps they'll not throw rocks at me and call me a scum. Derrick then started walking into the village. And as he got closer, a sentry spotted him.
"An ogre," the sentry said. He unsheathed his sword. "Go away, you vile beast!"
The ogre noticed the man brace himself for combat. He didn't like this at all and he never liked fighting. But he knew full-well how vicious and cruel humans could be, so he kept his guard up.
"Human, I mean no harm. I came here to ask for food, not eat you."
The sentry was unmoved. This not trusting an ogre wasn't unusual in the likes of him.
"Like I said, go away! You vile beast, you are nothing but scum!"
Derrick left, in tears, knowing that he may never be accepted in the land of the humans.
