Edythir
The Cold One
Greeting, greetings. I'm Edy. I've been RPing for about a decade and a half in all formats you can think of. I got my start on IRC channels, and if you've been in one, congratulations. You're either a tech nerd, older than you'd like to admit or both. I've done extensive RP in everything from forums to chat to MMOs to Tabletops for half of my life.
I don't have strict requirements about post lengths, it all goes after that is natural and what fits the scene. A dialogue heavy part will have naturally shorter posts than something that is setting up details in the environment or establishing what is diagetically known and unknown but present. All I ask is you make your best effort and write what you find to be natural, when in doubt, match the other person to the best of your abilities. I've done 5000 word posts, i've done 1 paragraph RPs, each have their place, it all depends.
That being said, I still prefer post that are at least 3 lines, some scenes are more dialogue heavy or have less going on so I won't force anyone to pad out length just to fit an arbitrary requirement, the only deliniation between that is just show that effort was given and thought was put in.
Being 18+ is a requirement, being 21+ is a preference.
So. I've been having the brain worms again. Very specific brain worms this time, and this theme is a bit of a departure for me. I thought I could just sleep it off but the idea won't leave my head, i'm afraid it's here to stay so why not act on it?
Though before I delve any further, in this kind of RP, or really in a lot of stuff I do I often deal with dark and or heavy themes such as recovering from abuse and unhealthy coping mechanisms. If you are uncomfortable with that I advice you to seek elsewhere.
So, imagine a world where we have truly immersive VR games. In such a world there would be one semi-popular mmo game, featuring a near-future world with post apocalyptic vibes where combat is done almost entirely with guns. Grenades, knives and swords still exist, but unless you're mad enough to bring a knife to a gun fight, those aren't too common, carrying a knife on you for emergencies, sure, but it's rarely if ever the first thing you grab.
The world is focused on a bounty system. Whether it is kill x amount of creatures, gather x amount of materials or map out x place. Contracts can be given by NPCs but the higher paying ones usually come from other players or guilds. The game also works on a softcore pvp system. Cities and towns are safe areas, but out in the world you can be killed by anything and everything, players, environment or mobs. If you die you keep your equipment but the contents of your inventory are dropped.
You might be thinking to yourself, "Geeze golly Edy, that sounds a whole lot like Gun Gale Online". And you'd be right! That's where the majority of this comes from, but here's the thing. I have the kind of spicy-brain where if things don't behave as I expect them to be I get the most uncanny feeling, this is the reason why I don't do fandoms. Sure, you could likely play a most great Sinon, but. Why risk an otherwise fine RP falling apart for something that's only "likely" to happen? If characters act out of character for some reason there's a part of my brain that just puts a stop to any engagement I could feel, it's something I can neither explain, defend nor justify. It just is what it is.
So, if we want to make basically a carbon copy of the world without any canon characters involved to make worldbuilding easier? Sure, i'm fine with that. If you don't know the setting at all but the theme still looks good for you? We'll create something of our own that works for both of us. If there was something which annoyed you about it when you saw it? Let's change it, the power is in our hands, we have the creativity, after all, this is a creative format so let's make the best use of it and bend the whims of fiction to our needs and wants.
I already have a character in mind, one which might start off on odds with others but could start working together for one reason or another. I don't have a preference as to the gender or type of character you play so feel free to go ham!
