A fresh, young fantasy universe

Thebadgamer98

Rightful Lord of Villar
As I've said, this world is brand new, less than two weeks old. I wanted your input on what has been created so far.

It's been centuries since the "Fall", when the gods were bashed from their high thrones and cast away into the oblivion that awaits us all. In their place are the Daemons, whose gargantuan monsters roam the world, ruining civilizations in their wake.

In recent years, though, the monsters have receded, their attacks becoming less frequent, but none the less ferocious. From this relative peace, many new communities have sprung up, along with defenses to stop the attacks of the Daemon's pets.

Outside the walls of these relatively safe  fortress cities, life is much more dangerous. Threatened by lawless vandals and the rare monster or two(with the common monsters running rampant), these farmers who make their living outside the walls live a dangerous, yet important life. For their efforts they are paid well by the city folk, who wouldn't dare attempt to leave the safety of their high walls and towers.

These farming barons build up quite the fortune, and many of them resort to hiring mercenary adventurers to defend themselves and their lands.

"Do the fallen gods still walk the planet?"

So claims Rick Korung. But no one believes him as he can't substantiate the claim.

"What about the average monster?"

Oh, the average monster is well known by most all inhabitants of the known world. The Orcs, Goblins, Undead, those such things, are extrememly common, fending them off accounts for the high cost of business of the average farmstead, mine, or lumber mill.

"And do people believe the fallen gods once existed? Are their skeletons commonly known of?"

Depends on where you go. Some places(like the Northern Wastes)very strongly worshipped the fallen gods, with altars and shrines at their graves that have been discovered by people like Korung. A small amount of these northerners even believe that the gods may still walk the Earth, hiding from the people in far away lands or blending in as the people.

Whereas, Southerners tend to have a very different opinion, with very few grave sites of the fallen gods, and much more diversity in religion, these peoples didn't find much faith in the gods when they did hold the peace in the land. Now that they're gone, it's hard to find one who believes they ever existed.
