What is a sleep schedule?
Vampires; the terrifying blood-sucking monsters clad in human skin. Well, not quite. Rumours are always exaggerated, right? Allow me to teach you about them. Vampires need to drink fluid as a normal human does to hydrate, but their nourishment comes from blood rather than typical food. All vampires possess superior strength, speed, and senses compared to that of a normal human. Each vampire born inherits a power typical of their class that are known as gifts. Should a vampire’s gift be their physical ability, it is simply amplified further by a small amount. Vampires possess “normal” eye colour; only when they are feeding or lusting for blood do their eyes change, their sclera becoming a haunting crimson background to their irises. Their fangs only jut out when they are about to feed/are feeding.
All vampires can be killed if their heart should become damaged beyond repair, but otherwise they are viewed as being immortal, but not in the sense that humans seem to believe from myth. A vampire’s average lifespan is roughly eight hundred years, however the aces are void of aging past their prime. Vampires can self-heal should their bodies be strong enough to allow them to do so, but severe wounds will still scar. They are immune to illness. Vampires become fully mature at the age of seventeen, where their aging then slows down considerably for the rest of their lifetime.
Vampires will settle into one romantic relationship, but when it comes to reproducing they remain polyamorous in order to keep the bloodline as diverse as possible. There were once many Aces, but now there only remain four.
The Classes
The Aces
-The progenitors of all vampires. Immortal to aging.
-Capable of any gift ever witnessed within the vampire race.
-Obeyed as royalty within their community; they set the laws for cohabiting with humans.
-Capable of turning humans into vampires.
The Kings and Queens
-Kings and queens are revered as miracles born within the lower ranks. They are extremely rare throwbacks to the aces and are immediately taken into sheltered accommodation at birth in order to be raised as nobles.
-They inherit the most powerful gifts: control of an element, complete shapeshifting, teleportation, shield, psychic abilities etc.
-They are the only vampires besides the aces capable of turning humans into vampires.
Jacks and Jokers
-Jacks and jokers are, more often than not, a result of mating between kings and queens. It is extremely rare for a throwback to birth yet another throwback. Occasionally they may also be born within the numbers.
-Jacks and jokers are viewed as more gentle vampires, due to the fact that they inherit gifts that cannot be outwardly expressed, such as heavily enhanced senses, emotional influence, mind manipulation, healing blood, etc.
-Jacks and jokers are recognised within high society, simply for the reason that their gifts are highly valued.
The Numbers
-The common vampires. The masses.
-The numbers are the most common vampires to be born within every class, to be immediately placed where they belong – normal society.
-Their gifts are simple ones: enhanced speed, limited shapeshifting, etc.
The Mongrels
-Vampire/human crossbreeds. Shunned and viewed as a waste of vampiric blood.
-The are only ever born as one of the masses, and even then they are shunned by the pure-blooded numbers.
-Mongrels do not inherit gifts as they are not of pure blood.
-They have little-to-no control of their bloodlust. They have to train for years to do so.
-They have a normal human lifespan.
-It is possible for them to live on a diet of regular food, but it severely limits their vampiric capabilities and leaves them vulnerable. A 50/50 balance is best. They have the superior physical abilities of a vampire, but not the durable frame. They cannot regenerate and can suffer human illness.
What Do I Want From You?
Go wild! You could be a human caught up in this world, or the vampire that taunts them. Drop your character sheet and go wherever you want! PMs, a 1x1 Thread, or create a group Thread for you and your friends. I only ask that you name any Threads "A Deck of Vampires" so that I can find you! I will be playing a mischievous Queen called Lila - a brat with a firey temper.
