Greetings fellow gods that hide behind the fourth wall. I am OverconfidentMagi, a writer the same as you. As demanded by the overseer of this hosted project, this is where my characters meant to fill and expand this imagined world will be stored for your viewing. I rarely make just one character, that's too lonely, so my characters will exist as a part of a series usually. For example, there may be the superpowered children of the Jacob's family who may or may not have been inspired by the Powerpuff Girls, the only loosely-connected heroes and villains and bystanders who were each given their powers in the form of a mask by an enigmatic entity, or the inexplicable duo of an immortal little girl and the man who killed her. These and possibly, probably, very likely more await your viewing and enjoyment. Without further ado, let us dive into this day's unfolding tale.

Hero/villain name:
Melpomene

Civilian identity:
Joshua Evans

Gender:
Male

Age:
16

Eye color:
either Light Brown or Glowing Red

Hair color:
Blond

Occupation:
High school student

3127156d6242cac9842294c7a9bb0e00.jpg

Powers:
Wish Detection - If a human speaks a wish that is within Melponene's ability to grant, so long as he has his ears open, he'll hear it. Distance and obstruction don't matter. You could call for him in a sealed soundproof room and he'd still be able to hear.
Spatial Manipulation - Melpomene ignores the normal rules of space and distance. He can appear and disappear at will, become intangible, or invisible, or physically invincible as it suits him.
Power Creation - In order to grant humans' wishes, Melpomene creates masks for them. When they put on the mask they are granted a power of their own. The power they're given, or rather the mask that they're given, is decided based on what their wish is for.

Weaknesses:
Noninterference - Melpomene cannot act on his own without there being severe consequences. He must be asked for in order to act, and even then what he is able to do is limited. Unless it's for self-preservation, he's mostly limited to running around handing out masks.
Gods - Melpomene despises the gods, even their bastard offspring. Should he encounter one it's hard to know whether he'd simply run away with his tail between his legs or try doing something and face the consequences of his own limitations and the wrath of the gods.

Skills and abilities:
Joshua's talent for reading other people borders on supernatural, but it's just a skill he picked up as a kid. He's also good at lip reading.

Weapons:
Joshua wouldn't dare carry a weapon on him, but that doesn't stop Melpomene from pulling a knife out of a pocket that previously didn't exist.

Equipment:
Masks, masks, so many masks so little time.

Hero/villain Appearance:
84cfad4bcaca533b07e6ac821d0756ee.jpg

Personality:
Joshua is a kind, carefree young man with the kind of disposition that makes him hesitate if he sees a bug where he's about to step. He laughs often and makes friends easily. He wears his emotions openly for all to see, holding nothing back.
Or is that just a mask?
No, he's cold, quiet, always thinking too hard about something that can't have an answer or else he would have found it with how much time he spends in thought. Other people are just distractions that serve no purpose.
Or is that just a mask?
That isn't right either. He's cruel and manipulative. He's a liar. The worst kind of liar. The kind of liar that smiles as he stabs you in he chest. A truly despicable person. He treats even his friends as puppets to be played with and thrown away when he's had his fun.
Is that true? Or is that just a mask?
Just what kind of person is Melpomene?

History:
Since the very beginning heroes and villains have worn masks. Their identities are some of the closest guarded secrets in the world. If someone knows their true identity, then they can be attacked through their loved ones. However within that very secrecy is also where Melpomene has hidden itself. So many heroes and villains wearing masks, so many who take the secret of how they obtained their power with them to the grave. It makes it impossible to really tell just how long Melpomene has been around handing out masks that grant superpowers.

Quotes:
"Do you have a wish, one that you'd give up everything else to fulfill?"
"I don't grant wishes, I just give humans the power to grant their own wishes."
"Say, what do you think would happen if everyone got what they wanted? How would that turn out? I really want to know."

The KingThe Heartless King

Hero/villain name:
The Heartless King

Civilian identity:
Eise Varia

Gender:
Male

Age:
24

Eye color:
either Dull Grey or Yellow if he's using his power

Hair color:
Black

Occupation:
Taking care of his sister

tumblr_mlqs0zwCfW1s153hoo1_1280.png

Powers:
Reality Warping - Eise is a mid-tier reality warper, and as such exerts his influence on the very fabric of reality just by existing. Thankfully there seems to be a hard restriction on his ability to induce permanent change, but even so the sheer scope of his power is mind-boggling.

To simplify things we'll just go over the typical uses of his power. The first and most common way is to alter himself. From just altering his clothing and height to become the Heartless King to full form changing, making himself stronger, or intangible, moving his body somewhere else in a kind of localized teleportation. Or he can alter his surroundings, creating matter from nothing in any shape one can imagine, or altering the properties of existing objects. He always tries to do something different each appearance, but even so he's especially known for his love of making dozens of swords appear from his red cape. A more creative use of his power to affect his surroundings is him creating sound in the air to speak even without his voice.

Eise himself summarizes his power as "the ability to bring whatever I imagine into reality".

Weaknesses:
Mentally, Eise is overconfident bordering on arrogant, rarely even considering the possibility of anything other than complete victory over whoever is sent to deal with. Eise is physically very weak, in addition to having a bad heart, so physical exertion while not using his power to act as the Heartless King is out of the question. But those are less important, as Eise himself isn't a major threat. The Heartless King though, he's a much different story, so take notes on his weaknesses, never before released to the public.

In terms of his power itself, most of its weaknesses come as a result of its demonic origin. The most glaring weakness and easiest to take advantage of should it become publicly known is nothing more than salt. Salt disrupts his ability to alter reality, and a handful of the stuff is enough to cause whatever he's created to break apart and dissolve. A thick enough line of salt also inhibits his power from crossing, so fully surrounding a space with salt will prevent him from altering reality within it. It also prevents him from crossing so long as he's acting as the Heartless King (and for a time after he's changed back), but if he really wanted to get in the protection would likely only last for a short time before he found a way inside. The salt is only mildly irritating to Eise in king form; it doesn't really harm him directly.

To actually hurt him you'll need iron. Any injury caused by iron will stick, even if he's intangible or changes his form, and will cause him incredible pain, like red-hot metal is pressed against the wound. The only way Eise has found to recover from such an injury is to stop using his power until it's able to heal - repair? - itself over time. The shock of being hurt and feeling pain while acting as the Heartless King is often enough to make Eise's control over his reality altering loosen, but there's a much more effective way to stop Eise's power, and its as simple as changing the metal used. A solid hit from pure silver will immediately stop Eise's ability to affect his surroundings. It's important to note that silver will not hurt Eise directly like iron would, it only temporarily seals his ability to warp reality, the exact duration of the block depending on how the silver was delivered. The number of people aside from Eise who know of this particular kryptonite of his can be counted on one hand.

And lastly because it's rarely ever of much importance, the Heartless King is unable to act on or within holy spaces. Many old churches Eise has found to be completely unaffected by his power, and he's unable to change into the Heartless King inside such a space.

As far as actually killing the seemingly invincible, oftentimes intangible, damn-near-omnipotent Heartless King... no one's been able to figure out a way so far. Most kinds of attacks end up going right through him, or else they'll make contact but not seem to do any damage. His entire body's been blasted away until there was nothing left, including the mask that'd been theorized to be his weakness, but he just gathered himself back up and continued on like nothing had happened. The current theory is that he's able to be killed only when he takes off the mask himself, but so far the groups of individuals who would be willing to test that idea and those who know his identity have been kept quite separate.

Fight him, slow him down, weaken him, injure him, trap him, whatever they have to do to stop him. There are plenty of plans in place to deal with Eise should he ever attempt to increase his area of control, but the only one who knows how to actually kill him is Eise himself, and he would laugh at all of the overly complicated ideas people have come up with. The public named him the Heartless King, but that's a misnomer. Nothing can live without a heart.

Inducing permanence to anything he changes has a price. His own heart condition and inability to speak came as a result of him attempting to permanently alter reality. To not suffer terrible consequences, the rule is that every change he makes to reality must be undone when he's done. Another limitation, though one he's constantly finding ways around, is that he cannot use his power to directly affect another living human being. Pulling a sword from thin air and using it to cut someone is fair game, but materializing a sword already inside a person would fail. It should go without saying that any living constructs formed by his ability is not covered by this immunity, no matter how human he may make them appear. A person can willingly give up this protection at any time, but once they do they cannot undo that decision, and Eise would always be able to alter them with his power.

Skills and abilities:
Eise is surprisingly good at cooking and sewing, things he's picked up while taking care of his sister. He'd say he's also proficient at playing the violin, but anyone else would call that a stretch.

Weapons:
Whatever he feels like using he'll create then.

Equipment:
The Mask of the King

Personality:
Eise has a quiet intensity, the latter simply being his nature while the former is a result of him being mute. Anyone who knew him before he lost his voice could tell you it's probably better that he can't speak. Most of what used to come out of his mouth was just snarky commentary anyway. He's extremely uptight, generally getting annoyed at others' attempts to cheer him up. There is only one person who's able to lighten this unhappy dark cloud of a person, and that's his younger sister Emily. Eise loves his sister more than anything in the world, and it shows. The moment she shows up it's like the clouds have parted and he's an entirely new much brighter person. The change is like night and day.

In his persona as the Heartless King Eise acts as an ambivalent ruler of the city. Due to his weaknesses being a well-kept secret, he appears to be omnipotent. Any problem, be it villain or other emergency, he can effortlessly solve should he decide to do so. But the Heartless King doesn't step in to solve every problem. More often than not he won't appear to take care of a situation, and will leave normal people or other heroes to deal with it. Unlike Angelo, Eise didn't ask for power to use to save everyone. And he's gotten a glimpse at where that road leads.

History:

Just know that if you become a problem I am forced to deal with myself, I will eradicate every trace of you.

Occupation:
Music Shop Worker & technically still enrolled College Student

Powers:
Since Angelo's power comes from the same source as Eise's, it makes sense that they are nearly identical. Both bend reality around them, but whereas Eise mostly exerts his control outward to influence his surroundings, Angelo directs his power inward. He can of course alter his form however he wishes, the same as the king, but generally he just makes himself stupidly strong and durable and brute forces his way through fights while face-tanking any and all blows from powers or weapons. He, much like Eise, treats the laws of physics as a big joke, and he can often be seen floating in the air or standing on the sides of buildings (or even the side of a moving vehicle in one case).

Eise's power is mostly based around matter, creating it, altering it, and destroying it. That makes it easy for him to balance out the changes he causes by simply undoing them once he's done. Angelo's power is more focused on energy, and unlike Eise he isn't able to simply destroy energy. So he stores it up inside his body, burning some of it whenever he uses his power, but always ending up with more of it stored inside than he can expend. Every once in a while he'll use some of this energy during a fight, shooting out bright beams of raw energy, but that tends to vaporize most living things and is something he avoids doing when possible. All of this stored up energy is what makes him losing control of his power so dangerous.

The Black Joker "Overheating"

Weaknesses:
Angelo's power shares many, if not all, of the same weaknesses as Eise's ability, which makes sense due to them both coming from the same source. Salt irritates him in joker form and messes with his control over his power, iron can hurt him, and silver temporarily breaks his control over his power. Silver in this case may be more dangerous for others than to him though. The Black Joker keeps an incredible amount of energy stored up inside himself, and suddenly losing control of all of it could have explosive consequences. Instead of using a silver weapon to injure him, it would be ideal to simply restrain him with silver. Simply being kept in contact with it would keep him from using his power. And as with the Heartless King, the Black Joker cannot enter or act on holy ground.

As Angelo rarely use his power on anything but himself, the range he's able to affect is small, only ten or so feet from himself. His strength and durability are incredible, so it's not advisable to try fighting him directly unless you happen to know of his weaknesses. He can also be driven away by forcing him to use his power constantly. His desire to protect civilians will force him to flee else he leak excess energy and accidentally kill someone.

Skills and abilities:
Angelo is a very likable person, able to make friends easily wherever he goes. He's also quite confident in his athletic ability, especially when it comes to endurance. Angelo loves music, and he'll often sing along to whatever song happens to be playing. His singing is surprisingly quite good. He keeps himself healthy, making sure to eat well and exercise. He's a good teacher as well, having taught Eise many of the skills he needed to learn to take care of his sister.

Weapons:
Angelo owns a few swords and knives, but as the Joker he rarely bothers with weapons.

Equipment:
The Mask of the Dragon

Villain Appearance:
(Transformed too far, becoming demonic)
2bde868af97fe8ea7622370b7f05e915.jpg

Personality:
The Angelo Eise remembers was a very kind, loving person. He could be loud and get too worked up over things, and he didn't bother thinking about consequences until after the fact. But he was always doing things for others. Even when they didn't want help. Or rather, especially when they themselves didn't want to be helped.

History:
The Heartless King and the Black Joker were born together, out of a dream shared by Angelo and Eise years ago. In it a strange boy offered to make their wishes come true, and when they woke up they each had in their hand a mask. Sure enough, using the mask gave them incredible power. Angelo immediately took up the mantle of "hero of justice" and started cleaning up the streets as a vigilante hero called Joker. Eise stuck to the background, using his power in subtle ways to help those around him, and Angelo whenever he needed it. A fun trick Angelo loved was having Eise create a sword for him to run around with. He never used it for real or anything, but it was still cool.

Things went well for a few months. No one could have predicted what happened. It started with the first appearance of Red Don, at the time a no-name villain just testing out his power in the most cliche way he could come up with, by robbing a bank. Eise never saw any of this himself, but apparently the guy was a powerful telekinetic and Angelo was having a hard time dealing with him alone. Things escalated, people died, and whether it be from overuse of his power or some accidental contact with one of his weaknesses, Angelo ended up going berserk. He destroyed the bank and smashed up a couple of city blocks before the first hero arrived to deal with him. Angelo nearly killed him too, and would have if not for Eise getting there in time.

That was the public debut of the Heartless King, named for the moment the "Black" Joker blasted a beam of raw energy through his chest but he didn't die. Eise had never used his power to fight before, but his power ended up being stronger than Angelo's and he was able to contain Angelo by covering him with silver (in the form of coins). Angelo was declared a villain and confined with his powers sealed, and Eise became the hero Angelo had always wanted to be. Eise tried to get Angelo released, going so far as to lie that the villain whom he'd fought had made him go crazy with some sort of mind control. It was slow progress, but he felt he was close to securing Angelo's release. Before that happened though, Angelo broke out. Well, broke out might be a bit much. An accident led to his silver chains coming off, and he just kind of disappeared from his cell.

The Black Joker's been sighted a few times since then, whenever there's a villain or emergency and no other hero is there to act in time. He deals with the problem as quickly as possible, usually in a single move in the case of villains, and then disappears just as quickly before anyone else arrives. The villain he went berserk fighting, Red Don, has become a major threat in the city, but the Black Joker never appears in the same place as him.

Quotes:
"I wanted to be a hero, to have the power to save everyone. But that was such a silly wish.
Do you know what it takes to save everyone!? Of course I turned into a monster!"

The VillainRed Don

Villain name:
Red Don

Civilian identity:
Alexander Carr

Gender:
Male

Age:
41

Eye color:
Yellow

Hair color:
Grey

Occupation:
he used to be a High School Science Teacher

a96a3705709d0cb8f1d6b8ab2905989b.gif

Powers:
Red Don is an exceptionally powerful telekinetic. Simply put, he controls the movement of the world around him using only his mind. Trying to touch him is like running up against a wall, and bullets stop before ever touching him. He's caught a thrown grenade in his hand and kept it from detonating, only to toss it back later. He's dismantled the gun of a cop shooting at him, and the hand holding it, without moving a... ahem, finger. He can attack from a distance, or he can use his power to augment his body to throw a punch, that while not on the same scale as one from the Black Joker, is still plenty strong enough to make sure no one on the receiving end is getting up again. The terrifying part of this power is that it's completely invisible and cannot be blocked. Since it doesn't rely on any physical strength it's not a force you can fight back against or resist once it's got you. There does have to be some limit to the force he can output though, since he was unable to simply crush the Joker when they fought. The last power up Don's sleeve is his trump card, one he uses only to end a fight, either to finish off his enemy with a surprise attack or to escape. That is teleportation. When he put on or removes his mask he can teleport himself to a distant location.

Weaknesses:
Compared to some other mask abusers, when Red Don uses his power, his body stays human. As such, he notably lacks the common weakness of iron. His body reacts completely normally to touching or being hurt by iron. Much like the Heartless King, salt can block his power, making it unable to affect objects beyond it if enough is put down. Should a place be encircled by salt he won't be able to teleport into or out of it. Getting hit by silver will temporarily break his control over his power, and it's also the only material he is completely unable to move with his telekinesis. Anything with enough silver won't even go with him if he teleports holding it. And just like the others, his power doesn't work within churches or similar sacred spaces.

Skills and abilities:
Alexander used to love hiking and mountain climbing, and even now that his physical strength means nothing he still goes through the motions of staying fit. He loved reading, science fiction being his genre of choice. He'd often claim modern scientists and inventors were just stealing their ideas from the authors that wrote about their discoveries years ago in works of fiction. His daughter liked more fantastical stories, the kind with princesses and kings and dragons, and he found them growing on him as a result.

Weapons:
Two handguns, a few knives, some pocket change.

Equipment:
The Mask of the Fool

Villain Appearance:
e1d0fe3e305c49acbed927d67c95dba6.jpg

Personality:
Red Don is unquestionably insane. The man laughs as he smashes people against walls and then calls it art. The only people who could possibly sympathize with him, Melpomene's other victims, even consider the man a deranged monster. Each person he sees he imagines opened up, red on the outside, dead on the inside. He hates it. It scares him. He lashes out out of madness yes, but some part of him is also hoping that if he kills enough, eventually a hero will appear that can kill him. But that scares him too. Oh God what has he done?

History:
Red Don's first appearance was when he robbed a bank and fought with the Black Joker. It was unprecedented for a completely unknown villain to show up and be able to hold their own against the Joker, but Red Don managed to do just that. He was never able to go on the offensive, just keeping himself protected from the hero's endless barrage of powerful blows took all of his concentration. But when the Heartless King showed up to deal with the rampaging Joker, Don was able to escape with a considerable amount of money.

Earlier that week there was a car accident that put four people in the hospital. There was the driver of the vehicle that was hit, a young woman who died shortly after, and the family who had been in the vehicle that hit her. A man, a woman, and a child. Alexander only suffered scarring across his face where he'd hit the glass, but his wife and daughter were worse off. The doctors told him that he should say his goodbyes, but one man contacted him saying there was an experimental operation that might be able to save them. But it would be expensive.

This was when Melpomene appeared before Alexander, while he was tearing himself up over what to do and wishing he had a way to get the money to pay for the operation. Now he's tormented by the nagging thought that if he'd just wished for a way to save his family everything would have turned out differently. But at the time he didn't think about that, only that help had appeared before him. The demon gave him a mask, and with its power he knew it would be easy to take the money he needed by force. Could he have simply threatened the doctors to do the operation with his power? Probably. But again, he wasn't in the best state of mind to think things through.

After getting the money he needed, he went back to the man and paid for the operation, much to the other man's disbelief. He was so foolishly hopeful. He'd already been given the miracle of a mask, and he truly expected to get another in the same day? The operation was not successful. Both his wife and daughter had died. At least that much was what the doctors told him. Alexander was distraught, but more than that he was confused. How had both died without him being told anything? He demanded to see them, but was told he couldn't. So he forced his way through. He was the villain newly dubbed Red Don, no one could stop him from getting his way.

It was all a scam. There had never been any miracle operation. The entire place was just a front to extort desperate people clinging to false hope. All of the patients were simply emptied out, their organs sold, and the rest tossed out with the trash. I won't go into any more detail about the scenes that met Alexander's eyes in that hellscape. Suffice to say, it broke something important in him. His laughter filled the halls as security and hired thugs tried to stop him, but their bullets couldn't touch him, and when he flattened the entire place into the ground and then down even deeper until nothing could possibly remain and there was no possibility of a single person surviving, he was still laughing.

Red Don is a dangerous villain because he's completely insane. You can't predict when or where he'll show up, only that when he does it will be a bloodbath.

I can see you put in time on your new characters, but there are some things that don't seem very balanced that should be addressed before these characters are approved. If not, then, well, I have nothing to say. I'll delete this message and be out of your way.

BackSet BackSet , thoughts on the characters?

Telekinetic:
I had problems with the telekinesis being irresistible (since theoretically, if someone can exert more force than the telekinetic force holding them in place, they should be able to muscle their way through if they're strong enough. Telekinesis used to grapple their muscles individually is a different story). Sure, it can be nearly impossible for most to escape the grip, but if a character with this much power can exist, it's likely someone out there will be able to resist it. I'm thinking along the lines of another telekinetic being able to do just that. BackSet BackSet has the final say whether or not changes need to be made. This one's pretty close to being balanced, actually, and it could be left as is.

Heartless King:
"Damn-near-omnipotent" doesn't really seem like something that would fly here, considering all present characters have domain influence over none, or only one or two things (time, space, their own mortality, etc), but with all things mentioned, it seems like this character has influence over, well, a little more than that. I'm going to pin it on word choice that made this seem a little iffy, and I can already tell that you've tried hard enough to balance this character. BackSet BackSet has the final say whether you have to make changes or not, but personally I'd think adding another weakness would balance this one out. It's almost there.

Black Joker:
Yeah, this one's balanced enough. Nothing much to say about it. Treating the laws of physics as a joke sounds alright, until it's pointed out that most characters rely on the laws of physics to even attack. Just throwing that out there. Don't think any changes need to be made here. BackSet BackSet ?

I know that the point of these characters isn't for being ridiculously overpowered, and I'm apologizing for however rude this message seemed. It's just that I felt like a little bit of tweaking would prevent issues in the future, such as when these characters are in action.

That's all.

Don't read unless you really want to. BackSet BackSet 's the one approving the characters to begin with.

Yay someone is actually reading these!

The current mask trio don't just seem overpowered, they are overpowered. Melpomene spent a lot of time figuring out how to shove power into weak little human flesh socks. But ignoring little masked Kyubey for now, the trio are meant to keep each other in check. The Heartless King creates and destroys matter, the Black Joker absorbs and amplifies energy, and Red Don throws around raw force. Red Don wants to destroy and kill, but if he goes too far the King will come down on him. Joker wants to stop Don, but if he fights all out he'll become the threat instead. The King can fight equally against both but is afraid of overusing his power and becoming like them (insane/a literal monster). And of course there's their actual hard weaknesses, their various kryptonites. If your character knows even one then dealing with any of Melpomene's victims becomes a lot more manageable.

With this explanation I definitely will approve this. Thanks DepravedMind DepravedMind . Its probably a good idea I don't go around approving CSs in the morning anymore because I wasn't really paying attention.

Alright. Without this explanation about keeping each other in check, I wouldn't really be able to see what the point of all this was. Thanks. Other than that they're actually well made characters, so, good job.

Occupation:

2de8d3708f59991b430edf838db8d5fd.jpg

Powers:
The ability to destroy heat and plunge her surroundings into sub-zero temperatures. The freezing winds she produces can easily freeze a person solid, but for propriety's sake she does try to avoid doing that. Encasing a person in ice is usually sufficient for making them shut up. At least some part of her power seems tied to her emotional state, as her being in a bad mood for too long has resulted in blizzards burying her location in snow.

Weaknesses:
While she can and does use her power to shield herself from the freezing cold she produces, Selene is not immune to feeling cold. If she goes overboard and lowers the temperature of her surroundings too far, she can freeze her own body. This leads to an odd point about her power. Against common sense, she is only really able to use her power to its full potential when she's surrounded by heat, not in an already cold environment where she'd be just as likely to freeze as her opponent. If the air is too dry she won't be able to produce ice, but the freezing air itself is often more dangerous anyway.

Skills and abilities:
Selene is quite athletic, running at least a mile each morning and regularly doing gymnastics whenever she has the time. Having two younger brothers, she's surprisingly good at dealing with kids, as well as being an incredible cook.

Weapons:
A rounded silver dagger just in case she's faced with a heat or fire user that can't be frozen.

Hero Appearance:
8c87ff8b3d5eb7bd9d845414b3811099.jpg

Personality:
Selene might seem cold at first, but that's only until she's figured out whether a person is speaking to her because they want something from her or if it's a more innocent reason. Her popularity has led to multiple incidents with fans wanting to speak to her when they shouldn't, so she's become more guarded around people until she's gotten to know them.

Selene generally acts very mature for her age, often acting more like a mother than a young woman still attending school. She worries about others constantly, thinking about the most minor of things, wondering how they're doing randomly during the day. She's quite considerate of others' needs and almost never forgets something once she's decided it's worth remembering. Having grown up with two younger brothers and two busy parents, she's very good with kids. Others will often find themselves on the receiving end of the girl's motherly instincts before she's realized what she's doing.

You'd think she'd get embarrassed by things like that, but Selene doesn't do embarrassed. She considers it too close to regret, the one thing she absolutely hates. She considers regret to be the ultimate display of weakness. To succeed in the world you must take ownership over every choice you make, no matter the outcome. The only reason a leader should ever look behind them is to apply past experience to the present, no other reason. And Selene is most definitely a leader.

This absolute confidence in herself can occasionally put her at odds with the rules. If she doesn't agree with a rule then she sees very little reason to obey it. Her own authority is more important to her then someone else's. While she certainly cares about doing what she can to help others, she wouldn't hesitate to step over those in her way to succeed. Anything and anyone who puts themselves between Selene and what she wants had better find a nice hot place to hide before she freezes them solid and continues right on past.

History:
The daughter of two very smart individual, her father being a chemical engineer and her mother being a fashion model and musician, Selena grew up a bit on the spoiled side. She has two younger brothers, Antimony who's 16 and Mercury who's 12.

Selene's had her power since before she can remember, and growing up with instead of suddenly coming into her power means she is completely comfortable using it. It's a natural part of her rather than something she can turn on and off. Aside from keeping her hometown on top of the annual snowfall charts, the first time she displayed her power publicly was when black ice caused cars to slide off a bridge. She froze a large portion of the river to bring all of the vehicles back up to the surface, saving more than a dozen lives. To this day she remains something akin to a celebrity in her hometown.

Powers:
The ability to constructs basic shapes from energy. The amount of energy it takes to make more complex shapes scales exponentially, so he tends to stick to three-dimensional cubes or two-dimensional planes for the most part. Those basic shapes take hardly any effort to maintain and are still quite effective. Very rarely is he forced to use more complex shapes against an opponent. As only the "shell" of what he creates is solid objects can be stored inside. For very basic shapes (planes and cubes) when he isn't actively using a shape but doesn't wish to destroy it he can lower the energy output to make the shape near invisible. This also makes them incredibly fragile, so less usable for combat but still a useful trick. Conversely, he can increase the amount of energy to make the shape give off light. More complex shapes will often glow simply because of how much energy they take to maintain. Those cannot be turned invisible without breaking apart.

Weaknesses:
As said before, his power is very complex to use and control. He needs to focus to maintain his constructs' shapes, and focus on their movements or else they simply float around, all while keeping track of everything else that is happening. The first point is why he rarely uses anything more complex than cubes. The second point is less noticeable for most people. It's difficult to control multiple shapes in unique ways at the same time, so he'll often only be controlling one shape at a time, or else controlling multiple in more simple ways, such as having multiple shapes move as a group, or having certain shapes follow a pattern of movement. Because so much focus goes into using his power, he is vulnerable to distractions. For this reason he avoids close combat, sticking back where he can safely orchestrate his constructs. Additionally the shapes he constructs are only as strong, both in durability and movement, as the amount of energy Antimony puts into them. It's very possible for them to be pushed back or broken by enough force.

Skills and abilities:
Antimony is a brilliant strategist, and has an incredible talent for mathematics. As one might assume given his ability, he's especially skilled when it comes to geometry.

Weapons:
An incredibly sharp dagger, often hidden inside one of his cubes.

Hero Appearance:
32c527ae154b7f5cb64337a5fa555063.jpg

Personality:
Antimony, or Ace as he's more often called, is an incredible person. A genius with the self-confidence and skills to not only make but also carry out whatever he puts his mind towards. He should be happy with what he has, but there's something overshadowing his own success. His sister, Selene, the Ice Queen. He might be smart and powerful, but she's on an entirely different level. She's an absolute monster gifted with overwhelming power and the natural instincts necessary to wield it. Ace has always been stuck in her shadow.

But that has created a person driven by a very clear goal. He wants to surpass his sister. His brilliant mind and growing ruthlessness in battle are both honed with the intent of rising up to take her throne. You'd think this would create some discord between the siblings, but neither one holds any negative feelings towards the other. They're family and love each other, they just also enjoy one-upping each other at every opportunity. Selene is Ace's excuse to become stronger, and he drives her to maintain her position of power. Ace wouldn't forgive her if she let someone else bring her down before he did.

He has a good relationship with his entire family, sharing his father's love for science and math and enjoying music like his mother. His rivalry with his sister drives him to improve, and he loves his younger brother. Ace doesn't let his desires or emotions cloud his mind, always thinking before acting or speaking.

When it comes to other people they often find Ace a bit too sharp for their tastes. He's too scheming, too willing to use people for his own purposes. When you need results there's no one better, but very few people actually enjoy spending time with Ace. He doesn't really mind, it just means he's something different from them.

f8939bbdf4135a71642cd111a92975c9.jpg

History:
Much like Selene, Antimony grew up spoiled. Not quite to the degree his sister was, but enough to show. He has two siblings: and older sister, Selene, who's 19, and a younger brother, Mercury, who's 12.

Despite being the middle child Antimony was actually the last of his siblings to manifest his power. Mercury's manifested 6 years ago when he was struck by lightning, and it wasn't until a year later that Ace finally showed signs of his. If it's possible for an individual to develop their power through pure willpower that's about what he did. But as soon as he did finally bully his power into manifesting he began experimenting, learning its quirks and exploring his limits. He doesn't have any impressive stories about him using his power like his siblings do. Everything he used his power for he intended, and he wasn't the type to go around showing it off for strangers.

Occupation:
None

Powers:
Mercury's body generates an abnormal amount of energy within it. Just walking around normally he's likely to shock anyone he touches. But shocking doorknobs is hardly cause for concern. Mercury's ability goes far beyond that, or rather, that excess static is just a side effect of his power. Mercury's body can hold within it near limitless energy and then discharge that energy as pure electricity. He's a perfect battery. There is the minor downside of drawing lighting right to him whenever a storm passes overhead, but between him and Selene their parents pay very close attention to the weather forecasts.

Weaknesses:
He does not have full control over the electricity once it's left his body. As far as control goes, think a person holding a hose: they can point which direction the water goes at first, but they have no control over where it goes after that. In order to discharge electricity Mercury first needs to charge electricity, usually by draining from some wall socket for a few minutes. Even if he isn't discharging electricity he will slowly lose charge over time as it drains out of him. He suffers no ill effects from holding a charge inside his body, aside from becoming slightly magnetic when storing a powerful charge, but discharging too much electricity from the same part of his body can leave him numb or even with slight burns. If his body gets supercharged and he has to let it all out at once he can even be left paralyzed for a time. This is usually more scary for others than it is for Mercury, since he's used to it. A quick shock to put some energy back into his system will get him right back on his feet usually.

Skills and abilities:
Mercury is quick, on his feet and in his head, has no problem relying on others even if he could manage on his own, and has a real knack for getting struck by lightning.

Weapons:
Two metal yo-yos, a charging cord, a handheld taser (repeatedly confiscated and inevitably stolen back), a skateboard, and the occasional light bulb.

latest

Personality:
"You're different from other children."

That idea has ingrained itself into every aspect of who Mercury is. Even before discovering his power he'd always been the type of kid to run off on his own and generally cause trouble for his parents. He's tried to cut back on that second part, but having a power only reinforced the need for him to rely only on himself. Every friend he's ever had has eventually come to distance themselves from him due to his power, either due to him being "special" or "dangerous" or "a freak". Different. Oh well, he was perfectly fine on his own.

Mercury might not admit to wanting others to acknowledge him, but his actions speak for themselves. He's rebellious and willing to question someone's authority the second he doesn't agree with something. If he doesn't agree with you, he'll let you know. And he can be mischievous just for the fun of it, but it's never malicious. Annoying sure, but he'll never be mean to someone who doesn't deserve it.

db83f42447b0a4d84fec934582970dfb.gif

"You have to be careful not to hurt them."

When he was younger Mercury would go around shocking people for fun. His parents saw that he didn't really consider what he was capable of, so they were forced to show him. His father came home with a whole pig, dead but entirely intact. He had Mercury electrocute it with all of his power, over and over until it was smoking and charred. "That's what you could do to a person."

Mercury has avoided using his power on another person ever since, that lesson sticking deep in his memory. Not just a little shock, not just a few burns like what it sometimes did to his hands. If he used his power on someone, they could die. Putting so much focus on not electrocuting people to death, it's shocking - excuse the pun - how little effort Mercury puts into avoiding conflict. His strong will bordering on stubbornness tends to make enemies of people who already dislike him just for being different. He doesn't care if he's beat up or hurt, and if he has to fight back well, they can't really complain since he's not using his power and leaving them burned like the pigs they are.

tumblr_mznts6JFk01sox2y0o1_500.gif

History:
Mercury was always doing something, usually something that would get him in trouble, even as a child. Since his family didn't live quite close enough to town for a young boy to make it on his own he'd often just be found somewhere nearby climbing one of the many apple trees on the property. That was how it happened first. He was sitting up high in a tree eating an apple when a storm rolled in. His parents went out to find him and bring him inside, but when they found him lightning had already struck the tree a couple times. Somehow Mercury was completely unharmed. They watched, first in horror and then in awe, as dozens of lighting strikes struck the tree their son was sitting in, until it broke apart beneath him and he fell onto the ground. And then the lightning was reversed, going from their son up into the clouds. This went on for over an hour, until the storm moved on and Mercury tipped over and fell asleep.

Mercury had a pretty average childhood even with his power. Sure he had to avoid shocking people on accident, be extra careful on cloudy days, and generally avoid calling down the wrath of Zeus as much as possible - his parents had to install quite a few very powerful lightning rods both outside and inside the house back when Mercury had occasional nightmares - but his power has its perks too. For one, no batteries necessary, and he's got a really nice deal with the power company where they pay him a lot of money to get struck by lightning and let them collect the discharged electricity.

Having a power did eventually create a divide between him and his classmates, leading to him having few friends and eventually being outright bullied. This might have been a serious problem for other kids his age, but Mercury didn't really mind it. He'd always loved physical activities, and so long as he didn't use his power or seriously hurt anyone a fight was just another sport to play. He enjoyed being able to do something fun with his classmates again. When the kids picking fights with him figured out what they were doing wasn't working they changed tactics. They started a fight as usual, but when a teacher came - Mercury has to give them credit for thinking to get a teacher involved - they said he'd been using his power to shock them. Kids fighting was one thing, but if Mercury had used his power he could have killed "his friends", and that's what he told the teacher. But it's easier to plant suspicion than to get rid of it, and as soon as the school year ended Mercury's parents transferred him to a new school.

Approved. I'm assuming that since they're grouped together on the table of cintents youll be wanting a single solo thread for them?

Just one is fine. I mostly plan on having them interacting with other players' characters.

How about Everyday Life of a Superhero Family?

With memorable episodes such as:
"Hell hath no fury like Selene stepping out of a cold shower."
"Mom, Ace is being an asshole and putting a forcefield over the TV remote!"
"Mercury I swear if you short out the wifi again they will never find your body."
and the limited airing of
"Three superheroes hide from the Jehova witnesses knocking on the door."
