2000 IQ Killjoy Detective
(Note: This is a quick summary of Academy City. As there is a lot to cover, not everything may be listed below. A link will be provided if you feel the need to check the wiki.)
Academy City is a place of great invention and discovery and is the most technologically advanced city in the world by a large margin. It has a population consisting 80% of students and has numerous school systems scattered about. These schools educate students on general subjects as well as on the supernatural powers created by AIM diffusion fields.
The government and politics are handled by 12 individuals who are called the board of directors. They have absolute power in the deciding of policies and laws, and since most of the population consists of minors, voting is completely non-existent. Studies of many kinds are done every second, ranging from bare-bones simple to mind-mindbogglingly complicated, and their are rumors of horrible test and practices conducted all in the name of science.
Foreign relations are a tricky subject for Academy City, and for obvious reasons. Being so advanced on top of having the ability to create Espers, many countries both envy and fear them. They have facilities set up around the world for various tasks, though most of the research is done in their own borders. Academy City claims to follow international laws like the rest of the world, though suspicions are that this is not the case.
The advancements made allow for strict and tight security, the city itself being lined with walls with the only entry points requiring permission to pass. Hidden cameras as well as small, almost invisible machines monitor the streets to gather information and maintain security. If this wasn't enough, there are three satellites in space that constantly monitor the city, so almost everything that occurs is known to the board of directors. To apply as a citizen, blood, fingerprint, and retinal data is needed, and a pass is required if one wishes to travel out of the city. For those visiting, a permit is needed. Following the magic-science treaty that states that neither side will get involved in the others business, Academy City allows magicians to travel into the city and do their own thing.
There are many different inventions that litter the city as everyday tools. Buses can run on their own, with automated AI bringing passengers to their desired destination. Some of the most common pieces of technology around the city are cleaning and security bots. About 40 centimeters in diameter and 80 in height, these cylindrical droids perform their duties without interference. Cleaning bots pick up trash and clean up messes around the city, and security bots monitor the area and emit an alarm when a law is being broken.
The city is split into 23 different districts, with each district containing a specific purpose. Below is a map accompanied by a table describing each district.
