The intention for this is for a cinematic (oooh fancy) moment before another "cut scene" plays out and then you to do stuff. Kinda like how TES abuses those prisoner sequences followed by character creation for all their game intros

Pretty much, I'd imagine. It's a nice war-gauntlet. Maybe it has spikes on it?

It's a glorified gauntlet that takes advantage of being made of the special metal. And lets you add stuff to it like a gun or crossbow
