ooc: hey! i finally was able to snag my partner's laptop to write on, but i am rushing a bit so im sorry if things dont look super pretty. i decided to start things off with the first day of school already over with, and the host club already hosting. by this time, haruhi is already in the host club doing... host things i guess lol
Kyoya was tired as ever by the time it came the hour that the host club would open for the first time that school year. The entire school day had been classrooms going over their rules, letting students mingle, and not a single ounce of schoolwork being done. It was boring, which made him tired, which made him more irritable than normal when Tamaki started up his antics again. But then Haruhi, a new student, came in and made things interesting.
As the new host presented her 'commoner coffee' to their peers, Kyoya sat at his 'lobby' desk, which was inside the hosting room but in front of the doors so that people could check in and make appointments to see the boys. Tamaki and the twins were popular today, but they usually were especially at the start of the year. Kyoya continued typing on his laptop, trying to finish up the last minute finances and accounting stuff for the club that he didn't have time to do earlier in the day during what usually would've been working time. He actually got most of it done, at an alarming speed, but he just wanted to wrap up anything else that wasn't finished so that he could go home without any work to do.
As Tamaki's voice sang over the noises of Haruhi arguing with him, Kyoya remembered that she wasn't the only new member of the school this year. Surprisingly, there were actually a lot of new people starting this year. There were about 7 new students in total. A few boys who transferred from another high class school to here, a set of brother and sister who came from Europe, a girl who came from a pharmaceutical background, and a girl who was most likely here to escape extreme fame. He wondered if he would see them today. He normally would try to seek out these newcomers to advertise the club, but he had been so tired that he forgot about that until now. No matter, he could do it the next school day, as the first day of hosting every year tended to be somewhat insane anyways. Maybe it was for the better that they weren't coming today.

Akari found herself sitting on a bench in the hallway after her last class of the day, texting her friends from America and wishing she was anywhere but here. While it was nice to be somewhere new, she had a difficult time befriending anyone and was feeling discouraged altogether. Normally this was easy for her. But her and Ren showed up late, then she had to spend her entire lunch period getting her paperwork sorted out in the office, and the one study hall she had, she had to spend texting back and forth with her manager to finalize details for her newest album. The dark haired girl knew it wouldn't be like this forever, but it was still disappointing to find herself dreading the next school day due to not having a single person to look forward to talking to. It was seriously putting a damper on her day, and she knew her mom would be sad to hear how Akari was really feeling.
"Hey, you coming home?"
Akari looked up from her phone to see that her brother was standing before her in the school's blue uniform, a bag tossed over his shoulders and a sandwich in his hand. She shook her head and pulled out the only earbud in her ear.
"Not yet," she responded, not looking away to pause her music on her phone. "I want to explore the school a bit, so I don't keep getting lost. It was really embarrassing today not knowing where anything is." Her brother shook her head and extended his hand out. Akari took the sandwich out of his hand and took a bite, immediately regretting it. Her face turned into a scowl and fought every urge in her mouth to not spit out the disgusting juice coating her tongue. "You knew there were pickles on this, didn't you?" Her brother laughed, and she handed her brother the sandwich back.
"I can't go home without telling Dad that I know you ate today." He shrugged, and began walking to the other end of the hallway. "Well, that sounds boring, so I'm going home. See you later. Text me if you're stopping for food on your way home."
"Never." she responded, knowing all too well that her and her brother knew that she actually would reach out if she was going anywhere her brother would like.
Watching the silhouette of her brother fade as he took a left at the end of the hall, Akari let her shoulders relax and let out a sigh. Sure, she had some ground to cover learning where the hell anything was in this castle of a school, but she was secretly hoping that there would be more people still here that she could've mingled with. Where was everyone? Akari had heard students talking about activities going on after the last bell of school, but she didn't see many people in this hallway. Should she go wandering around?
