    While Jude is stocky, she definitely does not look her weight. It's due to her body's rather...odd physiology. Look too close, and you'll see the cracks in her stone exterior. Literally. Otherwise, the gal is quite fit with lots of muscle, always keeping her body in tip top shape, but there's still a bit of softness to her that makes people question her skills upon first impressions. And oh boy, does she love proving people wrong.

    Jude has plenty of body modifications, most noticeably many face and ear piercings. Both of her ears are pierced through the lobes, her right ear has an industrial piercing, as well as a few studs. Her nose has a bridge piercing and a septum, and she sports a labret piercing below her lips. The gal also has a few shitty stick-n-poke tattoos on her body, faded over time.

He remembers calloused hands tracing over his features so long ago. fingers danced over a wide, flat nose and over full lips that threatened to bite. they’d rubbed a sharp jawline and traced the bushy brows atop dark, obsidian eyes. a work of art he had been called by some who gazed upon him. a sculpture made of sinew and bone covered by deep brown skin. Not a scar marred said skin but a tattoo of a blindfolded skull perched on his neck, red blindfold vibrant against dark skin. And just like the sculptures admired in museums and bid upon in auctions, his body was shaped to be strong and durable through training.

It was quite a hassle, getting used to being on display, being shown off and treated like a spectacle. They marveled at the tightness of his curls and how they seemed so black that they almost blue. Reaching out to touch before jerking their hands away when slapped. Draped in the finest of jewels and clothes, he was something to be admired. And though a new chapter in his life has begun, he treats his body the very same way.

PERSONALITY
: Intense is a word that is often used to describe Makari. He is not a man of many words, instead he lingers in the background. He melds into the shadows quite easily and from there he is always watching, waiting even. Word has gotten back to him that his aura is unnerving, eery and he would have it no other way. He enjoys the feeling of knowing that he can make people fear him. With those dark eyes, lifeless eyes of his he takes them in, gaze searching for any sign of weakness to exploit. He holds all the likeness of a predator. Makari is the entity that haunts your subconscious, the creature from tales of being stalked and hunted. Cold and empty is something about him that is not quite right. It’s as though something is missing within him.

There are those who have seen the worst of humanity and yet, they still continue to smile, to see the good in the human race. Makari is not one of those people. He is a self-aware individual, he knows that he is jaded and he does not mind. There is no amount of good that can be done to truly erase evil. So he has become one with it. There is no doubt that he looks out for him. His own survival is one of the most important things to him. He holds little regard for others and will not hesitate to use them and toss them aside. Violence and fear are his favorite methods of getting things done, with a little manipulation if he needs.

It is as though Makari became just like those that wronged him. The darkness of his environment truly shaped him in the worst way. A being who was broken and mended together, but his pieces reshaped into something jagged and sharp. He would never claim to be a forgiving person. Is it right? His desire to inflict pain as if it will make up for his own? No, but he doesn’t care. He finds pleasure in hurting others, in breaking them down until they too see how horrible the world is. He enjoys watching the hope leave their eyes. Where the goals of the good of society is to help and spread kindness, Makari wishes to corrupt and reveal the truth. That the world is truly a horrible place.

Makari is the calculating sort and by no means a hothead. Instead he is decisive in his decision making, weighs his options carefully so that he knows that he’s making the right choice. He’s an intelligent young man who plans in advance and keeps his cards close to his chest. There is never a clear sign of what’s going on behind those eyes of his. Makari is a man who moves in silence.

AMBITIONS: For now his goal is to gain the trust of the Justice League and his teammates. Behind the scenes he wants to sow seeds of doubts in the mind of the public, to show them that the world is truly a dark place and expose the selfishness of the supposed heros.


ABILITY

SENSE MANIPULATION:
Makari is able to manipulate the senses of both himself and others. It grants him the ability to freely alter or remove the five senses. It manifests through touch or a pitch black shadow-like substance he radiates.

ENHANCED SENSES: He can enhance the senses of himself and other. When using this ability on others he does it in a way that usually causes a sensory overload or lowering their pain tolerance. Makari can target on sense or all of them at the same time.

SENSORY DEPRIVATION: Makari can cruelly send people into a state where they feel nothing, his shadows will surround them and rip away the senses of his choice. He enjoys doing all of them at one time, making his targets numb.

IMPERCEPTIBILITY: He is able to make himself imperceptible, unable to be detected by those around him. His takes up space but those around will not be able to perceive him. An example would be walking into an unknown force.

ILLUSIONS: He can create vivid hallucinations or full blown illusions when dealing with a target. They’re life like in nature, making them difficult to distinguish from reality. He can conjure up nightmarish images, make mere minutes seem like hours.

LIMITATIONS

TARGETS:
When using his ability through touch, he must remain in physical contact with them in order to manipulate their senses. Of course, this leaves him open to attacks that break his concentration, thus stopping his ability.

MENTAL ABILITIES: Those with abilites that focus on the mind are more likely to break his illusions. Makari has no idea why but they seem to have some sort of mental block that stops them from being completely absorbed into his illusions.

TIME LENGTH: Makari is unable to permanently remove someone’s senses. His ability has a time limit through both means. When his shadows are in use, depending on how much is inserted into a person or how much they are exposed to, it can last up to a few hours or days. With touch, the connection is broken as soon as he lets ago.

FIGHTING CAPABILITIES

MAIN STYLE: Makari took to fighting like a fish to water or a bird to the sky. Makari is a man recognized for his ability in combat. He does not favor a particular style but instead takes from many depending on the situation. In short, he can adapt his style. Makari is not someone who relies on strength alone, instead he wears his victim down until eventually going in for the kill.

SECONDARY SKILL: He is able to use his surroundings to his advantage when it comes to fighting. In his mind nearly everything can be turned into a weapon. From something as simple as a pen, he will use it to gain the upper hand in a fight. There is no such thing as a fair fight in his book. Makari fights extremely dirty without a second thought.

• Makari is able to play mind games when he fights. He does it in a way that leaves his victims thinking that they have the upper hand on him or that he’s going to make a certain move. Only for him to switch up and pull the rug from under him. His moves are hard to predict.


TERTIARY SKILL: • Makari was born and raised in Russia so he’s fluent in Russian. He was also given a thorough education and is thus fluent in English, Spanish, and Korean.

• He was given the opportunity to learn ballet and tango. When he was younger he didn’t see the point but now he’s grateful. Makari is light on his feet and agile. Due to his lessons is core strength and stamina is on another level.


WEAPON OF CHOICE: Nearly anything that Makari can get his hands on can be used as a weapon. He favors dirtying his hands so he has two pairs of brass knuckles, a pair with spikes and a pair without.

OTHER EQUIPMENT: Makari has a sapphire ring. It’s far too big for his hands but he keeps it in his pocket. He also keeps a spring-loaded bo staff on his person.

BACKGROUND: There was once a little boy with big black eyes and a smile that could melt the hearts of those around him. A child who was left on the steps of an orphanage on a foggy night. The caretaker saw only a baby chilled by the cool air, no sign of the parent that left him. In his bassinet lay an apology note with his name on it, Makari he was called.

The one who dropped him off was aware of the orphanage’s status, a place said to house unwanted children. Children who showed signs of being anything but normal. It was true, on the surface. To the public the orphanage was a well funded place for society’s most vulnerable, It was easy for society to turn a blind eye to what was happening. Out of sight, out of mind as the saying goes. Inspections were always passed with flying colors, children were dressed up and showcased to let the conditions of the orphanage be known.

Sadly, the emptiness in their eyes and the hollowness of their voice were never noticed. Justice learned of the true nature of the orphanage as he grew. Knew of the horrors that really went on inside and in his attempts to escape he was always brought back. Eventually he realized that it was pointless, he became one of those empty children. One of the dolls to show off so that more children were dropped off and more investors would sponsor the place. They were raised to be obedient, subservient even. They were told that it was for their own good, so that they could be adopted and taken into a loving family. Children were easy to fool like that, give them enough hope and they were willing to behave. It was disgustingly easy and a young Makari believed it wholeheartedly.

When his time came, he was elated. Makari was happy that he would finally leave the horrible place. And adopted by a beautiful wealthy couple no less. For the first time in a long time he could smile again. His state made him blind to their manipulations however, unaware that they were just using him as something of prized possession rather than a child of their own. Makari remembers the games that they would place, the people who would come just to see him, like he was some show horse. The punishments came swiftly when he dared to act out until eventually he began to act on autopilot. He adapted to the horrors that he saw and his buyers were happy. They foolishly let their guards down.

No one heard their screams as they were slayed in their bed. When a servant found them Makari was long gone and was never seen again. It was assumed that the killer had taken him or worse. For a time he lived on the streets committing petty crimes. But eventually he was saved. Makari swore that his savior was an Angel. Just like that he was plucked from the streets.

Makari was kept tucked under his wing. Proving his worth again and again and again, doing anything to please the one so saved him, Levwas his name. And oh, did Justice thrive under him. He molded the young man until he became the perfect mentee and the perfect lover all rolled into one. It was easy, throw him a little affection and praise and he was putty. Like a feral cat left on the street for too long.

Their little relationship lasted for a long time, until a Justice caught wind of Lev’s plan to hand his empire over to a newly found son of his. Makari cried at first, wondered what he had done wrong, wondered why Makari was tossing him aside after all he did. He began to plan soon after, stealing his empire right from under him. It was easy, whispering into ears, gaining loyalty and promising spots at the top. Makari was not a kind man and it was always easier to catch flies with sugar.

The day came and Makari cried, but not tears of sadness. No, they were tears of joy as he watched the life drain from his boss’s eyes. His plan was going quite well until none other than Batgirl burst through the door. Makari knew that he was nothing compared to Bathirl and so a new plan formed. He agreed to join the little rag tag group known as H.O.T in exchange for no jail time. Makari now lays in wait, looking for the perfect opportunity to strike again.

BASICS.

Name: Sybil Williams

Age: 22-ish? (presumably- Sybil doesn't really know.)

Gender: Cis Female

Sexuality: Bisexual? Maybe somewhere on the ace/aro spectrum? She doesn't really think about it much.

Ethnicity: The specifics are unknown to her, but she seems to be of mixed Asian and Central American heritage

Hair: Black, straight. She usually wear it short in some sort of bob, with the neck cropped so that the eye tattoo on the back of her neck is exposed but long enough in the front that she can at least partially hide her eyes behind it.

Eyes: N/A. See below.

Build: 5'4", 162 lbs. Sybil is not really 'in shape', but she's not 'out of shape' either. She's just.... Whatever shape she is, and she's fine with it. She doesn't really go to the gym or anything, but she does a lot of pushups and arm curls while she's waiting on information, so her arms do have some muscle definition beyond your average youth.

Body Mods:

Tattoos: Sybil has many tattoos, all of different designs of eyes. She has a large one on the back of her neck and one in the middle of her collarbone. She has eyes on both shoulder blades, and eyes on the back of her hands and the inside of her wrists. She has eyes on the outside of her knees. She has a lot of eyes, basically.

Scarring: Where Sybil's actual eyes should be is a mess of scars- What looks like might be burns from fire or acid, as well as scars that were probably caused by knives or other sharp instruments. It looks like someone did their damndest to remove Sybil's eyes from her head, and succeeded.

She usually covers these scars through a variety of means. She has small, flesh colored masks that adhere to her face and cover her eye sockets, and these masks have an eye drawn on the left side. By herself, she usually ties a bandana around her face as well. In public, she wears dark, chunky sunglasses and low brimmed hats. The scars are mostly contained to her eye sockets, but are not entirely covered by these concealment methods and a bit of burning can be seen on the right side. If she is going out and about, she will hide that with makeup.

She has considered plastic surgery- one doctor she consulted with said he could restore the left socket enough to hold a fake eyeball and make the skin look more normal- but she hates the idea of being under someone else's power, even for a little while.

Moral Alignment: True neutral

Virtues: Self sufficient | Confident (maybe a little too much, and usually more than she actually feels) | Quick thinking and adaptable | Reflective and willing to improve herself (so long as she does not have to admit to it)

Vices: Self centered | Immature | Cynical | Arrogant | Habitual liar | Nosy and interfering, with no understanding of privacy

Quirks:
Sybil often hums when she works- Nonsense tunes as she sketches what she sees, or sometimes muttering under her breath trying to read lips or describe something in a way she will remember.

She is ambidextrous, but leads with her left foot.

She doesn't like strong smells, especially floral in nature.

Without her eyes, Sybil has learned to be very expressive in other ways to get her point across- Her mouth and eyebrows are constantly contorting themselves.

Fears:
Not being useful. Sybil has based her entire worth in her abilities and the information she can collect. If she can't provide something of value, what's the value of her?

Her past catching up to her, or being known by others. Sybil collects other people's secrets, but she has some of her own. She would like them to stay buried.

Trusting or relying on others.
Sybil spent the first decade of her life with no one who cared for her, and no one she cared about. It was easier that way.

Being abandoned. Ties into the above- People always leave. That's just the way it is. If Sybil doesn't get attached to anyone, she can't be hurt when the inevitable happens.

Being unable to see through any means. Sybil is legally blind, and she exploits that to her advantage. But the idea of being truly without sight terrifies her. This ties into how strongly Sybil correlates her abilities with her own self worth. It might also have something to do with how painful it was to lose the eyes she was born with, and the fear that 'losing her sight' again would be similar even if she's old enough now to know that logically wouldn't make sense.

Dark, confined spaces. When using nonbiological eyes (like all of the ones on her own body), Sybil doesn't have great night vision. She pretty much has never turned off the lights in her apartment.

Ambitions: Sybil wants to hold power over people, though she isn't quite sure what that looks like anymore. Mostly, she never wants to feel afraid again. She also likes it when she impresses Oracle.

Personality:
Sybil is a jaded, unpleasant young woman. She is frequently rude and abrasive, and seems to have little respect for authority. Her morals seem loose at best, non-existent at worst. She can pretty much always be relied upon to be self serving.

Interestingly, though, what she deems to be best for her does seem to be… Mutable. When she first began working for Oracle, the only thing she cared about was her paycheck, and tended only to think of the immediate future in terms of reward. Over the years, Oracle has noted a shift. Sybil considers consequences of her actions not in days, but in months and years. She has begun to think about how what she does might affect both herself and Oracle, and their shared operation in the long term.

Sybil now tells her if someone else is after the same information, and not follow that announcement up with an extortion demand. She will also contact Oracle with information she thinks will be useful to the older woman, instead of only answering very specific questions or sharing just what she was assigned to learn. She seems to have learned that cooperating with others and looking out for them, means the favor will be returned.

This may not seem like a lot…. But Sybil is young. In her age, yes, but also in her maturity. She has a lot of growing to do, and Oracle is relieved that she actually seems to be doing it, finally. Sybil did not exactly have a stable, happy environment in which to grow up and learn the sort of lessons normal children do. In her first ‘home’, she was seen as a monster, a corruption of humanity, something to be cured. In her second, her abilities were highly valued and she was given almost anything she wanted. She went from no one to care about or care for her, to only being cared about because of what she could do. The fact that she’s had difficulty adjusting isn’t really much of a surprise.

Sybil is naturally distrustful, and generally assumes that any kindness comes with strings attached. Though cagey around individuals, that distrust is even greater when applied to organizations- Any hierarchy in which she is not in the top rungs is inherently ‘bad’ in her mind

POWERS, ABILITIES & EQUIPMENT.

Powers:
X-Gene Superpower: Optical Transference. Sybil can ‘see’ through eyes that aren’t hers, and even through the images of eyes. This may sound like an incredibly useful and powerful ability, which it certainly is... Or at least has the potential to one day be. The reality, however, is that even though Sybil’s sight is unlimited, her focus isn’t and she’s not nearly as omniscient as she pretends to be.

Practical Limits:

Sybil must be able to conceptualize the eyes she wishes to look through before she can do so. She needs to know what it and its surroundings look like, and she needs to know where it is in relation to her. She can ‘hop’ to an extent to get to where she wants to see, by using one borrowed eye to determine the location and image of the next one, but cannot see through eyes she herself has never ‘seen’ before in some capacity.

  • Accuracy. Sybil sees what the eye she is watching through sees, and no more. She is merely an observer, and cannot change the direction or focus of the eye. Her view is subject to colorblindness, far or near sightedness, or poor depth perception. When using a non-biological eye, she only sees in hues in the color the eye is depicted in. She prefers flat images of an eye, as the rounded plastic eye of a stuffed animal or something similarly dimensioned would give her a distorted, fish-eye view. (She once looked through the eyes of a fly, just for fun, and threw up within five minutes.)

  • Attention. Sybil likes to be thought omniscient, but that’s hardly the truth. Like a desktop screen, there’s only so much space in Sybil’s mind that she can devote to her sight. Opening ‘new windows’ as it were, means she has to reduce the size of the existing windows to keep them all within view. In reality she usually has maybe six ‘scenes’ that she’s actually paying attention to at any given time, and she’s giving the others just enough attention to be aware of them. Eventually she will lose views if she hasn’t actively given them attention, especially ones based in biological eyes because they can move and if she isn’t aware that their location is changing, she will no longer know the eye’s location. Sybil has been working to expand the size of her metaphorical desktop and number of open windows for years, but the progress is much slower than she would like and she seems to have plateaued for the time being.

  • Sleep. Sybil tends not to sleep more than four hours at a time, as she tends to start to lose her windows if she’s unconscious for longer than that. She cannot observe while she is sleeping, so she tends to arrange her naps around her opportunities for spying. She is also more likely to lose windows if she hasn’t actively paid attention to them in some time, and if she has too many open.

  • Spying Through Other Metahumans. Sybil can usually spy through someone without them being aware, this is often not the case for those with powers of their own, or even a regular human who is particularly in tune with their body. Sybil’s presence is generally felt as a slight twinge where the optic nerve connects to the eyeball, and a heaviness in the occipital lobe. These are not painful sensations and are usually very faint, but someone expecting them could notice when they appear. Sybil has been forced out of someone’s vision on occasion, usually only by someone with mental-based powers of their own. Much to her annoyance and frustration.

  • Alterations to an image of an eye. If Sybil is spying through a photo and someone uses a pair of scissors to cut through the eye she is using on that photo, she would seize up and cry out in pain, and lose that window. Same if someone took a knife to a human or animal eye she was using. The eye must actually be damaged, and not just covered, in order to cause pain- Using black paint to conceal the eyes on a photo does render them useless to Sybil, but doesn’t hurt her. Sybil experiences the same level of pain regardless if she is actively using that view or not.

Meta Limits:
As noted above, there are many limitations to what Sybil can see, and it’s actually quite easy to prevent her from learning something, intentionally or not. What I’ve written above is mostly just the highlights of Sybil’s ability and I’m certainly down to explain further if there are any questions! Please let me know if you have any ideas about how Sybil’s abilities can be utilized- or deceived!- to instigate plot.

My basic guidelines for using Sybil’s ability in an RP are 1) she isn’t going to reveal anything specific about other characters or subplots unless I’ve already discussed it with the affected writers in OOC and 2) if we need to create some conflict, Sybil will provide. She is useful that way!

If we (me, an individual writer, the collective group of writers, whoever) decide that Sybil is totally unaware of something (a secret a character has been protecting, that the baddies are preparing to attack, whatever), then she is unaware of it. Sybil is not a respectful character, but I am a respectful writer (or try to be, at least!)

Technical Abilities:

As Oracle's 'apprentice', the older woman has been teaching Sybil an astonishing breadth of things that Barbara Gordon deems 'good to know'. Some of this is obviously related to surveillance and information gathering- Sybil is assigned different corporations or law enforcement agencies whose records she must access in a certain amount of time. She is tasked with designing her own code to filter information or some other goal, to generate spoofed data, to ruin facial recognition programs, to create false identities that hold up to increasing levels of Oracle's scrutiny. When they talk over the phone or online, Sybil and Barbara are almost always playing a game to see who can access the other's system first- Sybil got onto Oracle's computer once. (And her damned mentor had stuck a sticky note over the video camera anyways.)

But Oracle believes in being 'well rounded', so Sybil's lessons have also involved things like learning how to disable the GPS locator on most car models, repair a broken comms piece (okay, several broken comms pieces, where does O get them all?), build her own computer board and restore data from a waterlogged USB.

Sybil is certainly not at Oracle's level yet, and she probably doesn't have the patience to ever be. But her mentor has declared her to be 'proficient', which is as about as strong of praise as Sybil is likely to get. And she recommend Sybil to run H.O.T.'s comms and surveillance, so. She must be doing something well.

Assorted skills:
  • Sybil is ambidextrous, as she never wants to be unable to record what she sees because she is unable to use a hand. She would love to be able to write different things with either hand concurrently, but right now is only able to simultaneously write simple things, like the alphabet.

  • Sybil is a pretty decent artist. She is better at layouts and schematics than people, but her portraits are... Recognizable. If not always flattering.

  • Sybil can lip read in English… To an extent. Less than 50% of a conversation can be understood through lipreading alone, and that drops off further if Sybil doesn’t have a context with which to make educated guess. To say nothing of accents, or people who rush their words. And it isn’t like people who meet up to share clandestine information tend to sit in a circle with their mouths clearly in view.

  • Sybil has excellent spatial awareness, as she prefers to use multiple viewpoints to construct each ‘scene’ she is observing and has been doing so most of her life.

  • Sybil is a decent fighter- If fighting an average person. Her spatial awareness gives her good insight on the reach of someone’s fist, and she uses her ability to ‘cheat’ when fighting by observing herself through her opponent’s eyes and using the half second between when they look where they are going to punch and when they would land the punch to avoid it. Usually she uses her ‘advantage’ to give her time to escape- She likes to think ‘getting away with minimal injury’ is its own sort of win.

Equipment:

  • Guide Cane. Sybil is legally blind, and while she denies it... She does kinda need the cane. This girl does not pay attention to what's in front of her. Also, hers is telescopic and made of steel, which she has used against kneecaps on a few occasions
  • Notebooks, pens and pencils. Sybil is constantly sketching and writing down what she sees, though this is more habit at this point. For important things, she generally uses a secure app she and Oracle designed for voice memos.
  • League level tech equipment. (Once with H.O.T.) Is she excited about this? Yes. Will she admit it? No.

Strengths: Able to multitask and split her focus well | Good with technology, trained to deal with hardware and software issues that might come up during hero-ing

Weaknesses: Any situation in which she has to rely on others | See above for a practical guide to limits/weaknesses of Sybil's X-gene power | People knowing how her power works and thus being able to circumvent it (which is why she has never told anyone how her power works, but Oracle has maybe been able to put a lot of it together) | Though proficient with both hardware and software (and much better than a lay person), Sybil is stronger with software and sometimes struggles with hardware issues

HISTORY.

Asking Sybil about her past isn't a wise idea- Depending on her mood, it might significantly sour her opinion of you. It certainly won't get you answers. Either silence, or grandiose lies.

But if someone had the proper resources- someone like Barbara Gordon, perhaps- they could do some investigation. Half a year or so before Sybil began advertising her information and surveillance services under the alias 'Oracle' (which is how Sybil's activities showed up on Barbara's radar in the first place) a gang in Los Angeles called the Syndicate was taken down through the combined efforts of local law enforcement and area heroes.

'Mister X' and several of his associates were killed, and others were brought in to face questioning and serve justice. Between the bodies and the prisoners, almost all the gang's notable members were accounted for. The exception was the girl- Young, with dark hair and dark sunglasses, seen in photos at Mister X's side over the course of the last few years.

The loyalty Mr. X inspired in his ‘employees’ meant that very few gave up any information about him or the organization. But a fellow by the name of Jacobs was a bit more loose-lipped. Someone with the resources to gain the classified transcripts from his interrogation might find he said some interesting things about the ‘creepy little brat’.

No, he didn’t know her origins for sure. Mr. X referred to her as his daughter, but they certainly didn’t look related. Jacobs said she’d started living with Mr. X about seven years ago, after the mess with the 32nd Sect of the Church of the Retribution. Bunch of extremist cultists living out in the desert who’d taken the whole 'Church of the Retribution' thing too far and gotten obsessed with curing humanity of 'unnatural' abilities. Nutso-cuckoo, the lot of them, according to Jacobs. They moved some good product, though. But they’d tried to go against Mister X, see, and he’d burned the compound to the ground and took over the operation.

Jacobs was sure that was where the girl had come from, from those cultists out in the desert- She was a right weirdo, and she had some sort of powers, he was certain. With technology or cameras, he figured, which was how Mister X always seemed to know so much. Jacobs was willing to talk, he told them. In exchange for certain favors.

Jacobs never learned if those favors might have been secured for him, and the investigators never learned what else he might have to say. He was found dead in his cell the next day.

This at least, is what Barbara Gordon was able to infer after her extensive research. But that was three years ago, and thanks to Barbara Gordon, similar research can no longer be done. The information is gone.

Instead, 'Sybil Williams' exists. Daughter to a pair of perfectly unremarkable California residents. Unremarkable student, unremarkable life. Only survivor of the car crash that killed her parents when she was 18. The records are all falsified of course, but Oracle is good at her job. Sybil Williams has a birth certificate and a medical history and a bank account and even middle school grades.

That favor- and the agreement that Sybil no longer use the alias 'Oracle'- was the basis of their working relationship and it's grown to something like mutual trust. But that may not be enough for Sybil to thrive in Oracle's world of heroes and heroics

      Mateo's unusual personality is complimented by his equally as unique appearance. Coming from Brazilian and Italian heritage, Mateo's easily tanned skin is covered from head to toe with freckles. Innocent doe eyes are offset by the harshness of his near black iris, fit with a strong nose and a full set of lips. His hair is more often than not a wild mess of black curls, Mateo doesn't care for styling it too much so he tends to let it do as it pleases. As far as modfications go Mateo doesn't have any tattoos though his right ear is pierced.

      The beetle can also be slightly noticeable if you ever catch him without his shirt on. The galactic bug has embedded itself into his spinal cord, which can be seen as a small bump just between his shoulder blades.

Personality: Leo is a funny sort of a character, and in many ways, can appear quite contradictory, as though a lot of his actions lack a logical coherency to them, or appear as the disparate actions of many people in one body; some might just be on the nose about it and call him a whimsical twat. He's quite keen on his alone, being painfully blunt, if not outright rude to people he feels are infringing, or about to, infringe on such time to himself. Yet, he's not so perfectly content with himself, or the thoughts that solitude brings, that he could endure it indefinitely, so that usually involves going about people watching or, if sufficiently friendly with someone, he might strike up a conversation with them. This attitude might also be displayed in regards to how, and most importantly, if, he decides to tackle a problem. If it happens to be something he enjoys, though perhaps lacking in capacity to approach it sufficiently, Leo could bang his head against such a problems for hours, regardless of how incremental his progress might be. But, on the other hand, were the problem to be something he felt or thought to be incredibly contrived or inane, and despite his noted proficiency in solving such problems, he'd scoff at the thought of ruminating on it, and retreat to do something else a little aggravating. Still, it isn't as though Leo is completely unable to engage in self-reflection; his proclivity to do so, alongside a stinging, but at times, flagging compunction, is the reason why he doesn't like to spend too much time alone, lest his thoughts trap him. This capricious, though he himself might say half-assed, nature feels to Leo like a strange mix of his natural disposition alongside the insidious influence of his parents. That's not to say, as the man would tell you himself, that his parents ever forced him to follow along in their footsteps but rather, in an almost traducian sense, that being their child, having their blood in his veins, makes it seem at times that any inclination to deviate from the right path, if repelled, was just one small hitch along a biologically determined path. Perhaps this is why his troubled countenance attracted interest, and maybe a sense of history repeating itself, from his mentor, having seen how a person, if not given proper means to deal with their feelings, might find themselves in a tragedy cruelly of their own, but not wilful, making.

BIOGRAPHY
Abilities: Leo possesses the uncanny ability to create portals, doing so by flicking the fingers of his rand together, whilst using the fingers of his left to direct, in a way, where portals manifest. This ability depends on a number of factors for it to be effective in the field.
Firstly, Leo can create a portal within a 75M circumference, imagined with him being at the centre of a sphere. Technically, this sphere descends beneath his feet into the earth but, as a caveat, Leo can only create portals to locations where his vision is unimpaired. So, as an example, Leo would be able to create a portal to a room that he can peer into through a transparent glass window, but would be unable to do so in a situation where the wall lacks such a characteristic. This also means that if Leo is in free-fall, and there's enough space, he can likewise make portals in such an instance.​
Secondly, he can adjust the shape the portal makes, though he typically tends to generate them as either a rectangle, for people to pass through, or a circle. Following on from this, he can adjust the size of the portal from being a few centimetres across to more than a few metres; larger portals come with the side effect of requiring more energy and concentration to generate and maintain, so he only tends to make when the circumstances really, really require it.​
Thirdly, the portals cannot be used in an offensive manner, in the sense of when a limb or an object is caught as the portal collapses upon itself, separating it from the main part of the object itself. Instead, when an object finds itself in such a situation, the portal in a sense, and depending on the perspective of the affected object, either 'pushes' or 'pulls' in the direction where its mass is greatest. Leo can collapse a portal at will, though it tends to require more energy than it takes to create one, but it can be quite useful in an emergency manoeuvre.​
Fourthly, Leo cannot create numerous portals at once, only the requisite two.​
Equipment: Leo carries a number of non-lethal weaponry, mainly as a means to not only disorient the enemy, but also to aid in bringing about tactical manoeuvres furtively. Some of these include: flashbangs; smoke grenades; tear gas; malodourants; amongst a variety of curated items, depending on the situation and tasks at hand. In addition to these, Leo has also taken inspiration from Batman in possessing a REC (Remote Electrical Charge) gun, though modified to be in the form of a pistol for the sake of compactness. Aside from, should a situation devolve to the point where its use is necessitated, the young man also possesses a kris dagger for personal defence.

Strengths: Intuitive - Incisive - Creative.
Weaknesses: Capricious - stubborn - socially difficult - obdurate - conflicted - overthinking.
Hero Suit: Leo's Displace uniform is a compact, fit-for-purpose stealth suit, much in the same vein as those seen in the Splinter Cell series, much like this. Instead of having a typical helmet, however, Leo employs the traditional domino mask, a bright purple in colour, that is affixed to his face by spirit gum.

History: Leo was born the only child of Jonathan and Anastasia Shanahan, in the Old Gotham area of Gotham City on the 21st of July, 2030. Unbeknownst to the two parents, the young Leo had inherited the X-Gene, whereby he would come to develop powers related to portals, which wouldn't make itself until the age of 11. Prior to that momentous point in his life, Leo found his childhood years to be quite comfortable, if somewhat lonely. Though the flat the family owned wasn't expansive equipped with all the niceties one might expect of so modern an age, it was more than enough for the young boy, so long as he had the company of his parents, which, unfortunately, was something of a rare occurrence. For whatever reason, Leo would often have to let himself into the apartment after school, his parents tending to leave for a number of days with nothing but statements to that effect, and that they '...wouldn't be gone too long.' He never really knew what they did for a living; when asked about it by a teacher on Bring Your Parent to School Day, being absent of course, Leo couldn't answer; all he knew was that whatever they did, wherever they did it, was enough to put food on the table and keep the heat and lighting going.

It was then, at the age of 11, flicking his fingers to a song that seemed to be on everybodys' lips at the time, that Leo manifested his first portal, made alarmingly clear by the bewildered exclamations of a fellow classmate, who, having been walking behind the mutant, suddenly found himself lurched forward in front of him by a few metres, right up to the front gate of the school they attended. A strange medley of confusion, uncertainty but also curiosity followed during those tumultuous days, so much so that his parents even came back, from whatever they were doing in his eyes. There were frequent visits to the school around the status of the young boy, and whether it would be suitable for him to stay there, given the unknown nature and breath of his newfound powers. But, thankfully, for both the boy and his friends, a compromise was reached; so long as no harm came to his fellow students, Leo could continue at the school. At the same time, however, a scientist from a government department that studied the biology of mutants and their abilities would make regular visits to not only increase knowledge of the child's powers, but also to assuage any worries the school might, or, should it so arise, to recommend, if the child's abilities were dangerous enough, that he be transported to a secure facility where potential harm might not be incurred. Fortunately for Leo, Ms. Mirabai Vivekananda, as he would come to know her, was kind and gentle, but also probative and inquisitive in the way only a scientist could be and often, perhaps forgetting the age of the child she was talking to, tried fo explain the intricacies of his own powers in terminology more than a tad bit obtuse for an eleven year-old to understand! School-life remained unchanged, if often interpolated with a near endless array of questions about when he was going to join the Justice League.

But, unfortunately for the young boy, things would change so quickly, too quickly, and his life would never be the same.

One day, a now thirteen year-old Leo was about to announce himself arriving home when (his parents having been at home for an unnaturally protracted length of time), listened on his father saying, '...a night like this doesn't come around too often, it has to work out, it must.' Leo innocently asks what has to work out, his voice piercing through what must have been a solemn conversation, if the shocked expressions of his parents were anything to go by, before that professional, staid veneer naturally surfaced once again and Jonathan brushed it off as an opportunity for them to finally move into a bigger apartment, where his room, Leo's, would be four times as big as it was now. Aflush with excitement, Leo relented and allowed them to continue preparing for this big opportunity, being told that his grandmother, who lived nearby, needed a lot of help with chores since an aunt of his was returning from Europe to stay for a while. Thus, the evening passed with Leo's head full of thoughts of a new place to live, hopefully with his parents being able to spend more time at home. Such were his hopes up until the moment his gaze focused unknowingly at the television screen, BREAKING NEWS plastered across the bottom of the screen, his heart slowly breaking, punctuated by the sound of his grandmother's sobs. There were his parents, outside the Gotham Metropolitan Museum of Art being handed over to the police by Batman. Leo no sooner saw the visage of the Dark Knight, imperious, the ashen-face of Justice itself, then he bolted out the door and went about using his powers in a way he had never done so before. In a matter of minutes, Leo had traversed across the city, as the museum wasn't too farly situated from where he lived, but the commotion around the city had meant that the police weren't able to arrest his parents and place them into a squad car, such was the excitement of the crowd about a pair of such audacious thieves. Delirious, and on the verge of passing out, Leo summoned enough energy to place a portal beneath his parents feet that threw headlong into the alleyway he had just emerged from. His parents, bewildered by their sudden stroke of luck, were shocked to see their child in such a state and rushed to comfort him, only for Leo to encourage them, '...g-g-go, before...before he comes back.' With tears in their eyes, and perhaps, the duo duly heeded their son's exhortation and darted along the alley, Leo's consciousness fading as what appeared to be a dark shadow loomed over his parents.

When he awoke, Leo found himself in what appeared to be a cave, interlaced with the finest technology that a person could ever hope to obtain. Still nauseous, Leo tried to scurry off of what appeared to be an operating table, only for his weary to nearly slam against the ground, were it not the last ditch reactions of another person. Even with his vision still dreary, Leo was more than conscious enough to recognise the Batman when he saw him. Resistance would be pointless, he thought, allowing Gotham's Guardian to place him back down on the table. An awkward silence ensued between them, as the vigilante pulled up a stool next to the teenager. Then, after what seemed an eternity, the Batman, coldly, states, 'I apprehended your parents as they attempted to steal a recently discovered painting, the provenance of which has been traced to Rembrandt. They're now going to be charged with grand larceny.' It felt as though the world had crashed around him, the revelation eliciting tears and the doleful sound of sobbing. It was in this instance, painfully reminiscent of the story his own father told him, that Damian felt he had to do something, to prevent this child from slipping through the cracks, and potentially using his powers to become an ever greater thief, if not something more malignant. And thus, twice in two days, Leo's life would change forever.

The young man would eventually receive training off of Damian, after having sponsored to move to a private school established under the patronage of Wayne Enterprises. As time weng on, Leo's competencies, and insecurities would grow, encouraging enough that Damian recommended him for the H.O.T., a privilege that Leo's eager to honour.

    JC generally lives by an ‘every man for himself’ policy. He is a complete cynic, firm in his belief that the world is full of selfish people and prioritises his own goals and objectives over everything. However, that does not mean he will not work with anyone and operates solely as a lone wolf. If your goals align or you are useful to his purposes, he will work with you but if he feels that you are getting in the way of his objectives or holding him back somehow, JC won't hesitate to cut ties when he can. He despises the thought of someone hindering him from obtaining his objectives and desires.

    He does not have a sadistic streak nor does he have a cruel personality but he can be pretty cold and ruthless when he believes that being that way is of value to him, prizing efficiency. He will choose what he believes to be the most efficient and effective method available at his disposal even if it might be the most ruthless or abrasive one. While some people might perceive him as having a few screws lose because he will readily shoot someone if he believes it to be the most efficient means of achieving his objectives or doing something similar, JC is following his own brand of logic and perceives himself as a completely rational individual, unaffected and unencumbered by useless distractions such as emotions. He doesn't care for the emotions and feelings of other people, whether they are happy or miserable, unless those emotions benefit him in some way and in such cases, will turn on the charm or use his intelligence to try and manipulate them using their emotions for his purposes. He believes that it is because he does not really feed into his emotions or allow them to rule him in any way that he can maintain an impeccable level of calm.

    JC is a very meticulous individual, valuing precision and keeping a firm eye on the details. He detests it when people behave emotionally seeing it as irrational behavior and clouding their judgement. JC judges the worth of everything around him in relation to himself and whether it benefits him, considering little else, as such he can be pretty much convinced to take any deal so long as one can persuade him that it is of value to him. With this in mind, it should be noted that JC is loyal to no one but himself, often explaining it away as that he has simply never found anyone worthy of his loyalty.

    As a youth he would do whatever it took to achieve his goals and pick whatever benefited him. While he still picks what he believes to be the most effective method to getting things done, now that he is older he would rather choose the less messy and violent route if possible because he detests mess and having to clean up in the aftermath of the violence. JC despises weakness and vulnerability. He doesn't like the idea of people getting a hand on his weaknesses and he fears being killed because he sees it as the ultimate sign of weakness and the possibility of being killed brings him back to his weakest moments living as a child with his father where the threat of death was a constant that could occur at any moment. His attention can be easily captured by anything that tickles his curiosity and in such instances, he is likely to set aside his focus on whether it is beneficial to him and efficiency to satiate his curiosity, becoming much more amenable and attentive.

    A proud fellow, he generally fancies himself as being one step ahead of everyone else and tends to look down on others for what he perceives as their stupidity and lack of judgement. Until their capabilities are proven, he trusts no one to get the job done but once he knows they can be counted on, he will rely on and trust them to do that job if nothing else. However, such individuals are few and far between as JC takes a long time to come to put such trust in others. JC doesn't really have a sense of justice per se, it's a dog eat dog out world. If you can't survive the difficulties and hardships, sure the lack of justice and protection plays a part in it, but he believes it's really because you just weren't strong enough to protect yourself. He doesn't really care if other people suffer so long as it isn't him, and while he himself doesn't really have a sense of justice, he has found value in those who do ever since he came to view peace and the eradication of villains as beneficial to him and his objectives. However, his distrust and cautious nature that often has him preempting and trying to prevent unwanted situations from happening has led him to start taking matters into his own hands and eliminate criminals and trouble before they find him first. You want a job done right, you do it yourself.

    quirks: JC is a clean freak but he detests having to do excessive cleaning to keep things tidy, ambidextrous, gets petty when someone creates extra mess for him and finds a way to get back at them, has a habit of spinning or twirling things between his fingers.

    Long slightly curled and relativley well kept hair, whcih stops just below Imogen's shoulder's at the middle of her back. She doesn't dye or style it much, besides the bare minimum to keep it out of her face, and it gets easily tangled.






    build

    Imogen is quite slim and doesn't have much muscle to her. She is tall and lanky, with a long frame and very little curves to speak of. What physical exercise she does means that while she is physically fit, she doesn't look very strong. She isn't boney, but she isn't that far away.






    body mods

    Imogen's only chosen body mod is a tatto on her back of a monogram, and pattern that contains every possible letter of the english lexicon. Aside from this, she has scarring on her hands that looks like small cracks, and similar scarring on her chest and heart, snaking down to her right hand from mis-interpreted magic.
