oth groups have been best friends since grade school; each role is available for both groups (ie: ‘the looks’ will be available as a role for the girl AND boy group, so in the end we’ll have two ‘looks’ of opposite genders). Think of the roles descriptions as loose suggestions rather than set in stone. The characters do need to keep the same sense of the description, but it doesn't have to be spot on.

Because the roles are available for their male and female counterpart, I want you to get creative so we don’t have two versions of the same person (although it would be kind of funny if both groups realized they were just different gendered versions of each other )- and I should note here: all of them are charismatic and/or charming, if not a tad socially awkward- there’s a reason they ultimately make it big.

All of the characters are almost done tenth grade, and are between the ages of sixteen and seventeen. There are no exceptions to this, save for the genius roles who I’ll allow to have skipped a grade.

  Celeste Prince was, as her mother puts it, "a welcome accident." Their five older children were all but grown by the time Celeste came to be. Christopher, the oldest, was twenty when Celeste was born, while his siblings Jeremiah, Grayson, Annie, and Elisa were eighteen, sixteen, fourteen, and twelve on the day that Celeste was born. Their parents, Harrison and Jessica, were just as surprised to find out that they would soon be expecting another little one. After all, they were nearing forty, and Jessica had thought she couldn't have any more biological children. But no, that wasn't what was in the cards for the Princes. Nine months later, Celeste Annika Prince made her bright debut into this world, weighing nine pounds, seven ounces.
  
  The Prince children came to admire their new baby sister pretty quickly. They doted upon chubby baby Celeste from the moment she took her first breath. She got the best that a middle class family can only hope to provide for their children very early on. They put her in beauty pageants (though she didn't win first prize in any of them), took her to Disney World every summer, and, most importantly, enrolled her in dance lessons. It was then that Celeste developed a lifelong love for dance, with a strong preference for tap among all of the different genres she had begun to learn. She also took a liking to sports through her older brothers, who encouraged her to play T-ball and biddy basketball as they had done when they were her age.
  
  Celeste grew up with the love and support of her family, even as her siblings began to grow up and move out. Eventually, she was the only Prince child left at home, which was a crushing blow to her. She was essentially an only child now, and she hated every bit of it. Sure, having her parents' undivided attention was a plus, but it appeared to be the only positive thing about her newfound situation. That was, until the formation of the group.

  Do you want to join us? Celeste didn't even have to think about it. She said yes, and the rest was history. She didn't really expect it to (somewhat) blow up like it did, but apparently people seem to like the blossoming group. Celeste doesn't really know why, though. Her parents moved her to the Palmwoods shortly after, coming with her for the ride. Christopher bought their old house, now married with two kids of his own, so if this all goes bust, at least Celeste might have a room available for her with her brother and his wife.

  What drew you to joining the group? "Well, that's a long story. It all started on the day of my birth. Both of my parents failed to show up. Just kidding. I don't know. My friends were all like, Celly, do you want to join us? And I was like, sure. And now here I am."

  If you don't make it big, what's your plan then? "WNBA, baby. I'm gonna be the next Candace Parker. This won't be the last you see of me. Or it might, who knows? Either way, I wanna be a star."

  Celeste better get her credit for being a good friend. She wasn't the one who wanted to start this group, but because she loves her friends so much, she decided to go along for the ride. She thinks that she's the best dancer out of the group simply because she's been in lessons ever since she could remember. But she has a caring side - it just doesn't come out very often. Celeste prefers to dance or exercise more than anything else in the world, though she doesn't mind the beginning stages of the fame that the group's starting to receive. Her bubbly personality shines through, even though she simply never shuts up. There's always something Celeste has to say, no matter the situation. She often finds herself in unusual situations, but honestly, she takes it all in stride. She can be a bit of an oddball, but her goofy personality is infectious. No matter if you like her, hate her, or simply tolerate her, Celeste Prince is here to stay.

  Nolan and Tess Cruz were blissfully in love during their first year of marriage. A baby would complete their family and grow the love that they had for each other. But their bliss would soon end shortly after their son's birth nine months later. Tess would perish in childbirth, leaving Nolan to burden the pain that came with raising their son on his own. How was he going to look his tiny infant son in the eyes that mirrored his now deceased mother's? It would take a huge toll on Nolan, but he wasn't just going to abandon his son, which he named after his grandfather. Francisco Paul Cruz would be the baby's name. Nolan thought it fit his five pound, two ounce baby boy, and he knew that Tess would have loved the name for him too.
  
  The funeral was a grim one. Nolan was lucky that his sister was watching baby Francisco, whose immune system was too weak to attend his mother's funeral. Tess was only twenty-seven when she passed from the rough complications that came with her son's birth. Nolan was a widower at twenty-nine. What would he do now? What could he do now? Nolan spent the first year of Francisco's life grieving Tess's passing - they had been together for four years when she died. It was hard to adjust to life without her. But gradually, over the years, he began to cope with the tragic loss of his wife. From an early age, Nolan had taught his son that his mother was in a better place so that he never had to question why other kids had mothers and he didn't. It saddened Francisco to know that he'd never have the love of his mother, but soon, he'd have the love of a female presence in his life.
  
  Her name was Jacqueline Gould, and Nolan was quite nervous about dating so soon after Tess's death. But a five year old Francisco encouraged his father to date Jacqueline if he really wanted to, after she had been around them long enough. And so he did. They had a whirlwind romance, and within a year, they were married. Francisco served as ring bearer in the ceremony. And surprisingly, there wasn't much of a transition period for the Cruz's. Francisco took to Jacqueline immediately, and they quickly formed a bond.

  Francisco was a bright kid, with an intelligence that blossomed from an early age. School was effortless for him - his elementary school principal even encouraged Nolan and Jacqueline to let him skip a grade, but they wanted him to stay with his friends. But the choice was up to Francisco - should he skip a grade and leave his close-knit group of friends? The answer was obvious. Francisco would stay with his friends - he wasn't a traitor, by any means. And besides, he was a small kid - the older kids would just bully him. He wasn't stupid.
  
  Years passed, and Francisco was caught singing in the shower at one of his friends' house. His voice was better than they expected, and, well, let's just say that he was guilt tripped into joining the group.

  If you don't make it big, what's your plan then? "We're probably not going to make it big. Think of all the most famous boy bands throughout history. What do they all have in common? Five members. *NSYNC, the Backstreet Boys, hell, even One Direction all started out with five members. The logistics of a four person boy band working out just doesn't add up in my eyes. I mean sure, 98 Degrees had four members, but, like, can you name a single 98 Degrees song? I'll wait."

  Frankie's a chilled guy, just taking it one day at a time. He's adventurous and ambitious, letting that drive and desire overpower his nerdiness more than anything. He can be quite awkward around girls, particularly those he likes, but perhaps it adds to his charm. Frankie has a tiny amount of confidence within himself, but he doesn't really use it unless he needs it. He's a kind-hearted, sweet individual who cares a lot about his friends and family. Sometimes he decides to play dumb in order to mask his intelligence because it's easier for others to deal with. Frankie doesn't like to do it, but it's just second nature to him at this point. All in all, he's a loveable goofball with a big heart.

Under the haze of indigo lights and smeared mascara is a red hot flash of stardom shaped into a girl. A passing glance would label Ripley vain, but in an industry that alters lives for better or worse, sometimes looks can get you everywhere. Those who come across Fiona often don't know what to make of her; a performer first, person second. Words drowned in sickly sweet saccharine, the bat of the eyelashes, and suddenly the world is in the palm of your hand. That's not to say Ripley is superficial, but then again, beauty is only skin deep.

There are two sides to Ripley: the one she shows the public, and the one she shows her girls. Child actor turned upcoming stage star, Ripley has kicked and clawed to make a name for herself in the world of showbiz, and with that comes tough skin. On the surface, she's exactly what people say she is. (Fake. Conceited. Too perfect.) A fast talking wild child with the confidence of Rihanna who has one too many exes to come back and haunt her. A real spitfire, never afraid to stick it to the patriarchy and burn it to the ground. A pretty face with an ugly mouth, a true hopeless romantic turned heartbreaker.

That's not to say she doesn't know when to put her money where her mouth is. Self-assured and borderline narcissistic, under layers of makeup and lipgloss is a girl who knows what she wants and knows how to get it. Never a damsel in distress, Fiona is a rock for people when they need it. An eager ear willing to listen, save for the brutal honesty given in return. She's a fervent believer in self love and although vain, isn't afraid to share the spotlight (sometimes).

The closest people to her will always be her group and the guys. Although her relationship with some of the boys is forced smiles and conversations, Ripley stays close with her soul sisters. Through thick and thin and bad hair days, there's a little Ripley who still dreams of being a star, all braces and big grins. She's a lover and a fighter, the same girl who shot milk out of her in nose in sixth grade from laughing too hard. Despite being the same age as most of the other girls, she tries to look out for them when she can, like they're the sisters she's never had. Fiona Beth Ripley came into the world the same way she'll go out: kicking and screaming. She sometimes wonders if her parents had wished she were a boy, as if that would have changed the way she was raised. The middle child of middle class business owners Kristen Finklehimer and Beck Ripley, Fiona grew up the same way her brothers did; pushed into the world of child acting by no choice of their own. The child acting industry was no place for a child to grow up- weekends that could have been spent with friends or grandparents were spent practicing lines, getting fake tans, and missing out on birthdays. Being raised to swarm the spotlight savored Fiona's need for attention, but strained her relationship with her family, specifically her brothers. Feeding into her parent's fantasy put her at the top of the Christmas list, sparking bitter rivalry between the Ripley siblings. No amount of family therapy could unpack that baggage.

It wasn't until grade school that Fiona actually made friends with kids that weren't her competition. Back then she was still geeky little Fiona Finklehimer, pigtails and braces and a terrible overbite that seemed to scream nerd. Back then it was easy to make friends, when nothing much mattered other than what cartoons were gonna be on when you got home. Everything was so simple back then, performing concerts in front of animal plushies and singing along to the songs on the radio. But things wouldn't stay simple for long.

It's easy not to see the bigger picture as a kid and to look at the world through rose-colored glasses. Nothing prepares a kid for the acceptance of death, especially at ten years old. It took losing her youngest brother to realize that. It took losing Foster to begin to bring this broken family back together again, but this time with one less family member. Fiona and her older brother Fran eventually set aside their differences, and even though he's currently in college and Fiona is juggling school with singing and dancing lessons, the two siblings try to call in to check on each other at least once a week.

The last thing Fiona expected out of school was joining a girl group- show choir was one thing, but song and dance was another. It took Ripley a while before she fully gave into the idea. Finding a place in the group has been a journey of bad break ups and bad decisions, all of which she isn't sure what she regrets more. The last thing she expected to come out of it was fame, yet alone all of the attention she received from it. She insists it isn't going to her head, but then again, she's never been a convincing liar.

He doesn't talk about his childhood much at all. He vaguely mentions growing up in the projects, but never goes farther than that. He has two little brothers, which he drives to see often, regardless if he's technically allowed to or not.

From what most can tell, the most that one can figure out is that he grew up on the less fortunate side, often showing this by an extreme anxiety about wasting food, money, or most essentials. Often does he hold on to things like shoes until they are falling apart, or until he can pass them down to his siblings.

Clearly, he worked his ass off to get to where he is now, despite how humble he acts about it.

History:
Eris was born into a small family. She was the only child to Minny and Tobias Donovan. From quite a young age it was quite obvious that Eris had a brilliant mind. Her parents were quite proud of the intelligence their daughter held in her mind. They put Eris into countless competitions which she always won. The one thing the Donovan Parents did not plan on. Was music. They tried to get Eris to only listen to classical music. That didn’t quite work out.

When Eris turned 10 she was finally given a phone. This is where she found her love for pop music. She listened to it constantly and sang all around her house. Finally after a few months her parents caved and allowed her to take singing lessons as long as she learned how to play the piano. Eris sang and played piano for family gatherings and school talent shows.

When she finally reached high school she joined the band her friends created. It was quite hard to juggle school and the band but she made it work by creating a schedule. Eris strictly followed this schedule and her friends learned to accept that she had other priorities that weren’t only about the band.

Mallory can most accurately be described as an anxious, hyperactive and curious soul. She is outspoken, immensely intelligent and enjoys solving puzzles or mysteries.

Mallory is a charming, courageous, kind and caring girl who tries to see the best in people and the world around her. The type of girl who can get knocked down and will immediately get back up and try again, not letting past experiences or failures affect her.

Mallory is a very trusting person and gives this too easily, for this reason she can come across as quite naive at times. She can seem almost childlike with her gullible nature. Mallory is extremely intelligent when it comes to her studies and work ethic, she seems to lack in common sense at times. She can come across as quite serious at times and tries to keep her friends in check, she's almost adopted the role of mom of the group, while she will join in with the antics eventually, she is also there to gloat and them help out when things go wrong.

Mallory can get a bit overwhelmed in social situations with new people especially in loud and busy environments.

Mallory is carefree in a sense and always up for a good time, a believer of the saying "work hard, play hard". While she takes her career seriously other aspects of her life are a lot less organised, tending to go with the flow.

Mallory is extremely honest, often times saying it exactly how it is. It is almost as though the words fall out before her brain has time to comprehend her thoughts. She has a strong penchant for sarcastic quips.

The word "scatterbrained" has been used to describe her but she means well in her actions. She can be quite goofy and appears to not take herself too seriously.

She is a hopeless romantic and wears her heart on her sleeve.
first stage of life
Mallory was born to Peter and Sarah Jones. She is the youngest of 5 children and the only daughter in a house full of boys. She was a miracle child according to her mother and very quickly became "daddys princess". While Peter and Sarah would say they don't have a favourite child, it is pretty obvious in the spoiled upbringing of Mallory that this statement is simply not true. She is the apple of her parents eyes, as the saying goes. Mallorys brothers have always been very protective of her. Growing up in the Jones household was hectic but full of love and joy and the children were always well provided for.
second stage of life
As long as Mallory can remember shes always loved music and especially singing. She used to put on shows for her family where she would sing, dance and act, she was never a good dance unfortunately but she still loves it. She doesn't care what people think of her or how she looks. When her friend group decided to give this band thing a try Mallory decided to join along after her mother told her that now was the time to make this bold decisions. She is trying her best to juggle school work and the band life and slightly struggling but she knows its worth it.
