introduction.
Fame isn't what it's cracked up to be. It's not all glitz and glamour like the media wants you to believe. It's a dog-eat-dog world out there, and only the strongest will survive. Many people seek out fame for themselves because they think that life will be easier if only they had money, popularity, or success. What they don't know, though, is what lies on the other side of that curtain. While some may get what they're after, others get themselves in too deep, and it takes a special kind of person to back out of a deal like that.
Lavish parties come with the trade. Champagne and diamonds glisten throughout the rooms of some socialite's house as their fellow celebrities mill about. These parties often vary, depending on the host. Some of them are more sophisticated, the sort that are good for making connections and getting publicity. Others tend to get wild and out of hand. It was on the morning after a party such as this that up-and-comer Felicity Albright was found dead in the pool. At first, it was presumed to be a suicide -- she'd been getting a lot of unwanted attention lately -- but after further investigation, bruises on her neck pointed instead to murder.
There had been countless people in attendance at that fateful party, but one of them had to have been the killer. The only problem is that with a gathering that big, it could have been anyone. It would have been all too easy for them to pass unnoticed under the bright lights and loud music, and when you're an adored celebrity with a bought alibi, it would be no hard task to get away with a thing like cold-blooded murder.
born into it.
These are the people that have known fame all of their lives. They've had everything handed to them on a silver platter since the day they entered the world, and grew up under the scrutiny of the public eye. Generally speaking, they know how to handle fame the best from years of experience, and this has been known to go to their heads. They're at the top of the social food chain and have no problem flaunting it or, should the need arise, reminding you of it. God help anyone who dare accuse them of murder.
up-and-coming.
The stars in this category are the go-getters. Some of them had to work hard to achieve their dreams, while others happened to be in the right place at the right time, saw an opportunity, and took it. They're still relatively new to the whole fame thing, but they don't let that discourage them. For the time being, these are the people that have captured the public the most. Everyone wants to know where they came from and how they did it. While some of them wouldn't dare to put their careers on the line over something such as murder, others would do anything it takes to continue their climb to the top.
the scandals.
The way they got their fame is...less than savory, to say the least. whether it was a crime they committed or a leaked sex tape, they got their fame unexpectedly and, perhaps, unjustly. These celebrities would be considered the bottom of the social hierarchy, for now anyway. Given their rough pasts, they're considered wild cards by many. No one knows what they're going to do at any given time. They tend to end up in the news for all the wrong reasons, but that's the way they like it. They like to cause trouble, and murder isn't entirely out of the question.
rules.
01.
If you read the introduction, you should know by now that this roleplay will be focusing on dark themes like, well, murder. If things like that will bother you in any way, please don't join. As much as I want people to be interested in this, I don't want anyone to feel uncomfortable!
This will also be a literate roleplay. I know that the real world is crazy right now, so the pace of this might be slower than what some of you are used to, but I want responses to be relatively long (3-4 paragraphs, at least) so that we can still gain momentum!
02.
This roleplay WILL NOT be first come, first serve. After the application process is over with and everyone's characters have been posted, I'll be picking the ones that I feel will work the best together and make an interesting and diverse cast. If I don't pick you, that doesn't mean that what you made wasn't good, but I don't want this to be overrun with too many characters. As of right now, though, there is an unlimited number of spots to start off with (this will probably change). The only "roles" are the categories of fame into which your characters will fall.
03.
Discord is a MUST for this. After the final cast has been selected, those users will be given a link to a discord thread where we can plan and get to know each other better!
